What is your biggest screw up on your way to a platinum?

Recommended Posts

Following the collectible guide for Deus rex and failing to pick up a collectible right away and couldnt go back for it. Woud have been nice if the video mentioned that the building would be locked after completing the area.So had to do an entire playthrough for one collectible sinve they dont even carry over.

Not keeping track of the baseballs in Neptune vs Sega Hard Girls... they are unlisted (you just know how many you have but not where you got them) and when I only had a few left I couldn't even remember what levels I hadn't found them in yet. (Did make extra sure to get the missable ones after reading about them though)

I don't got that many platinum's, but there are a few mistakes that come to mind, but my two biggest mistake would have to be Deadpool and Bioshock.

In the trophy guide, the easiest way to get a 300 hit combo for the "Be like Joe" trophy, the hardest trophy in the game, is to reset all your upgrade so that you can milk from a heavy brute early on in the game with DP twin Sai. If you don't de-buff your weapons, you will kill him before getting the combo.

The problem though was that I didn't complete all the gold challenges for the other tough trophy "Gold rush". This make it much harder to beat all the challenges with no upgrades. I had to replay several chapter just to repurchase certain upgrades. Fortunately I was very familiar with the combat system, and only had two more gold medals to get. Still, I've should have saved the "Be like Joe" trophy for the end.

The other mistake, is almost the same as OP, Trophy_Croissant in Bioshock, I also did the same thing.

Just when I completed the big daddy transformations, with that annoying escort mission, I notice that you couldn't use the camera anymore. I wasn't sure which enemy class I've forgotten to fully research, so I had to replay most of the game on easy difficulty since I didn't had a back up save file. Ironically it turns out that it was the little sisters that I didn't full researched.

I'm anal.

I'll complete any DLC first before the base game and make sure my final trophy is the platinum so it really feel's earned as well as getting 100% completion at the same time.

That said, I did Marvel Superhero Squad The Infinity Gauntlet... I got the platinum but found out the DLC was delisted from the PSN store over issues with THQ going bankrupt in 2011...

Seriously? who the fuck does that?

Oh well, I'll just buy a shitty easy plat game to restore the balance :)

I was just attempting to get every trophy for Telltale's Back to the Future: The Game on PS4 in one day today and would have succeeded except I goofed up the requirements for a missable trophy in the Fouth Episode and couldn't go back to before the point I fucked up. Also, I could have woken up earlier today to give myself more time but I deserved to go out drinking last night! So not a major goof as I only have to replay about an hour in total but it put paid to my attempt to have the entire thing done on one day!

Not really my screw up, but my PS3 version of Assassins Creed II was glitched, one of the feather collectibles was always missing from the same spot (played the game a few times before figuring this out). Discovering this after finding 99 feathers wasn't fun.

I screwed up on Heavy Rain by accidentally getting Madison killed by thinking that she could survive the jump out the Window.

I misread the guide of Until Dawn and had a character die in chapter...I think 5? I figured no big deal, I'll just choose to replay from that chapter after getting the trophy for everyone dying. Redid that chapter without deaths and continued on until chapter 9, at which point I realized I missed a collectable earlier that chapter. I started again from the beginning of the chapter...and was told in the video that plays at the start of the chapter that nope, that character was once again dead. So, I started from chapter 5 again, got all the collectables properly, and then got the ending where everyone lives.

My own fault

Until Dawn- I was going for the all deaths trophy but I thought the game saves when you go to chapter select like Telltales or QD. But nope, it only saves for the first time you had completed it so I had to REDO from 8 to 10.

TWD: Final Season- Missed a step in episode 2 for the Botanic trophy so I had to redo the entire episode.

AC3- I used a USB for the first time so I would back up a save after each sequence. Instead i uploaded my copy to storage and had to redo sequence 5.

The Witcher 3- To be fair, I was new at the time but I missed a few trophies. I was planning to play blind and on easier difficulty before I wanted to do very hard.

Red Dead Redemption 2- Did the fishing side quest before do the fishing challenge so finding a 19 pound non-legendary was the big screw up.

Red Dead Redemption 1- Didn’t do the 20 horse missions so I had to redo the game until I got it.

Resident Evil 2 Remake- Had limited ammo for the final boss on Hardcore for Claire B so I had to start the lab area again. Uhhhh....

Uncharted 2 Remastered- I screwed up the Doughnut Drake run when the power went off and I noticed my Nate wasn't fat for a few seconds. I continued the run but I only got the speed run trophy. Fuck. Not required for plat though.

Beyond Two Souls- Missed a few collectibles and forgot to do the last chapter like 1-2 more times before I did the save all trophy.

Bioshock- Missed one of the collectibles and a few trophies.

Bioshock 2- Had limited ammo on hard so I had to restart playing again

Glitched

GTA 5- Two of my story related trophies were glitched and I’m pretty sure I didn’t use cheats. I got mad because I replayed one of them many times (I even got gold on it which was not my intent) to the point where I just quit trophy hunting. Then decided to the last mission and the trophy popped there. So I replayed the other two story related missions and they finally popped. Wow!

Skyrim- It’s not required for plat but Lost to the Ages wouldn’t pop the quest even if I went to said area or read the book. I loaded an earlier save and it worked fine when I saved. Nothing in the guide said it was glitched. It sucked because I was planning to do that with the side quests and misc. trophies.

The Witcher 3- I recently heard it’s not required for the trophy, but the first Witcher contract wouldn’t let me finish. I heard doing it in the wrong order glitches. I spent hours until I gave up and just went to the beginning of the game...again and it worked fine.

Mix of both glitched and my own fault

Alien: Isolation- I used the flamethrower too much before I realized the alien was chasing me too much and on hard, it's unforgiving and near impossible to avoid without it. So I had to restart from an earlier save, but damn glitches (such as Marlo and one your friend (forgot her name) were silent instead of talking and got me stuck) kept getting in the way and had to redo some of the other levels until it went all good.

Can't tell if it's glitched or my own fault

The Last of Us- I thought I did all of Ellie's joke but the trophy wouldn't pop so I had to redo.

Nickelodeon Kart Racers- Slime Mania was my last trophy. I'm not sure if I have to hit one slime in one level each or all slimes in every level. Either way, it was frustrating because there's NO guides on the location of the slime. Finally the trophy popped (as well as plat) in one of the Glove World tracks.
