Can vita get a virus ?

Alrighty here's why I made this topic. I was browsing about game of thrones tv show on my vita, and as I kept browsing, obviously a porn link related to game of thrones had spawned and I was tempted to click on it which  I then realised was a fake video !

After logging on later on my name wasn't Kumies, but it was something like Q9c9. I closed my vita and turned it back on and now it's back to normal.

So, should I just reformat to be safe  ? xD

Coding a virus for the vita instead of a windows computer would be like robbing a lemonade stand instead of a bank.

Joking aside, I'd power cycle my vita and move on. It was probably nothing.

Never heard of a gaming console or handheld to have Virus's like those the PC have... well kinda, back then I used to have a modded ps2 that can play pirated discs, used to play newer games that some of them didn't even released worldwide. one day I got a game that by the time I saved my progress this annoying blue block save file have appeared on my memory card, it ate a huge size of memory and affected my spiderman the game 2 save file and overwrite my hard earned dark chronicle save file, I still remember how I got so pissed back then lol. I tooked the card to someone expert, he tried to format the card but no use to get rid of the blue block. He toold me that this is actually a some sort of a data storage virus.

as far as I know, gaming consoles/handhelds never actually get affected by virus, only the storage part of it might get affected, memory card/ memory chip/ HDD's etc.

nowadays we have frame update patches, scanning or updating stuff, even if your console or handheld is affected by a data virus you can kill it by an update or some sort of a patch.

My username changed as well once on the Vita to '2bff' but then it went back to normal a few seconds later. I looked it up on here to see if it was an actual profile but it said the PSN account didn't exist. I don't think it's anything to be worried about. By the way, the answer to your question is 'No.' The Vita can't get a virus because it has Trend Micro Security installed onto it.

You know, even NokiaOS has viruses. :P

Also... Today you can buy stuff digitally over your console. You enter account- and bankinginformation and stuff... And I must admit, surfing the Web with Vita is pretty smooth and relaxing.

Sure, there IS malicious software. xD Why not? There are more PS3s in usage than Linux-based systems and Linux has malicious Software too.

I know, I know... people are like "Linux is the totally superbestest and most securiest OS in the world you Windows-faggot!!" but, eh, in reality its currently Windows.

ofcouse there is a possibilty that vita viruses exist .... but they would not try to spread it with a "game of thrones porn".... they would try it through vita gaming sites , vita app sites , vita theme sites and so on...

if someone is really interested in writing vita viruses , this person would make sure that it hits the goal .

Dude, seriously.

Porn on the Vita is the fucking worst. I tried it a couple of times and no videos would work, I basically had to decide between a still frame that took a full minute to load, or some god awful PG rated lesbian scenes on YouTube. Everything was horrible. I was like, man fuck this shit, I'm just gonna go grab my phone or something. Horrible.

I like how the PSP's god awful browser at least had the excuse of being from 2004, what's your excuse, eighth gen portable console?

If someone was capable of writing a virus for the Vita, surely the Vita hackers would be all over whatever exploit the virus was using.

Then again, the browser is the flakiest part of the Vita and you probably just experienced some of that.

Everything connected to the Internet can pretty much get hacked, when I pointed about " like those the PC have " I meant Virus's that messed up your console hardware for good, like prevent your gaming console to works, blue/red/black/pink whatever screen of death, fatal crush, probably prevent one of the USB ports to work properly, or spamming your screen with ads even when you're playing a game, and for handhelds I meant stuff like PSP, Vita, 3Ds. that kinds of handhelds.
