MMDE
Oh... we are using different abbreviations... My SRPG = Strategy Role Playing Game, not Simulation RPG (Disgaea, Demon Gaze) In this case, SRPG is an RPG with tiles while TRPG refers to the remaining versions (Persona, Neptunia, Atelier, ...) SRPG is not an English genre, it's TRPG. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tactical_role-playing_game And I got no idea what you refer to when you call Persona TRPG. It's more like dungeon crawler, though not as old-school as Wizardry etc.
Satoshi Ookami
I seriously didn't... I seriously didn't want to reply... but if I didn't, it would freaking bug me for the rest of the day. SRPG is not an English genre, it's TRPG. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tactical_role-playing_game Since when wiki is an almighty source?Yes, I checked this and that's why I realized we were using different abbreviations. Abbreviations I use are those that are universally used in describing JRPG. And I got no idea what you refer to when you call Persona TRPG. It's more like dungeon crawler, though not as old-school as Wizardry etc. Battle system. That's what the abbreviations should describe. ARPG - action battle system SRPG - tactical battle system with tile movement TRPG - tactical battle system And seriously, please do not respond to this anymore, you have your views that seem to be hugely affected by westernization, okay, I get it, I presented everything I wanted, I think you did as well, it should be enough. Neputyunu
Since when wiki is an almighty source? Yeah, some people that write wiki-entries are just... overreacting. The german Wikipedia says that yuri IS porn. I mean... there are eg two girls kissing! OMG ITS PORN!!! XD ... Or that people who like lolis are somehow braindamaged and pedo. Generally many entries about japanese stuff is written like it would be something bad. meh

You did reply, so here we go. Nobody said wikipedia is some kind of "alimighty" source, but it's usually a decent source for definitions. You should be able to follow standard genre definitions. SRPG is what they in Japan call the same genre as TRPG. In English, it's all TRPG. If you like to refer to JTRPG as SRPG, then that makes some sense, because it's made in Japan, but little else. When using tiles, it's usually called Tactical RPG. It's not without reason some of the bigger games in the genre has tactics in their name, and that is also likely one of the reasons why they are called just that. Examples of this would be the Tactics Ogre series and Final Fantasy Tactics series. You also seem to confuse TRPG with dungeon crawler. Wizardry and Ultima are clear examples of this genre, but they've been taken further with more real-time action-oriented battle and exploration systems. Where you run through dungeons and fight off enemies. Even games like Demon's Souls and Dark Souls has it's root here. jRPG stands for japanese rpg Rainbow Moon was made by Sidequest Studios Sidequest Studios is in Germany Germany =/= Japan thus Rainbow Moon =/= jRPG I'm in no way saying Rainbow Moon is from Japan, I'm describing the gameplay. In fact, find one place where I say it is a JRPG other than describing the game's gameplay. I don't think I've said that. AnRoDr
Got about 6hrs of gameplay in now and I love the game! Very good save-function let's me play 1 or 2 battles after work or so to then save and quit. Will take me ages to finish it, but it will be fun!
