The purpose of adding friends on PSN...?

PleaseHoldOn

Recommended Posts

Some of the people I've met in psn have become really good friends of mine and some I have even met :)

Who am I kidding. There is no room for friendship in the gaming world!!! This is serious business! I'm interested in gaming and gaming alone! I'm not here to make friends dawg so try to add me n' you'll get focking #REKT m8.

Same thing if you ask what's the purpose of adding people on Facebook, have followers on Twitter and so on...

For me I add people who I want to talk with. Yeah sure I might boost with someone here and there to help a friend or to be helped, but I mainly add to get the person better and be friends instead of having a bunch of random people just for nothing.

Also to discuss about games obviously since where I live pretty there's no one for that.

I used to have +100 friends.

I deleted people who never connected to PSN again and people under Lv. 10.

I play the same games with like... 1 person of those friends.

Now my list contains 16 friends.

The notification of connection is kinda annoying and NO, I won't deactivate it.

I just want to see the status of selected people.

Real life friends and people who want help with trophies. And sometimes guys I think are cool. (there's plenty of cool guys here that I haven't added so don't take it negatively that I haven't added you as I rarely send friend invites without trophies involved :D )

I wish I was more active on PSN, lately I have just played pinball, pc games and random games. And posted silly posts here. I also should set up some boosting sessions. RDR 8-player trophy, I'm looking at you...

Worst people are ones with nothing in common with me and not even communicating. "Add me and don't bother me!" And spammers. They get removed real fast. Once one guy added me because of one game, and I was "okay, I was just done with trophies and about to remove game, but can help you fast, what do you need" - then s/he replied "nah I don't care about trophies, just want to climb in rankings". Hopefully s/he found someone to help.  :S I'm fine with short sessions, but time consuming ones I do normally with rl friends as I don't want to bother people I don't know. :D

Initially, I added randoms I played with or against during Uncharted 2 multiplayer, after I found this website on the net, I started to add only people from boosting sessions, specially my Uncharted 2 buddies, some of which I became good friends with. I also added friends from another website who had a goal in common with regarding MGS: Peace Walker, a goal beyond trophies. I remain good friends with them too. Currently, I no longer add randoms.

Hmmm... I gues it's all about being social :)

So - Please add me on PSN - Hyperiond666

:)

TX

You should actually post here for that https://psnprofiles.com/forums/topic/10890-the-official-psnp-lets-be-friends-thread/

Also I saw your status update and if you want to find friends here the best way isn't to ask, it is actually to get involved in the community and people then will get to know you here and add you on PSN.

Start by adding an Avatar to your profile. I never understood blank avatars as how are people suppose to remember you from the other thousands of users.

Next make an introduction here https://psnprofiles.com/forums/forum/13-introductions/and tell us about yourself.

Then I would read up on Parker's thread for new Forum Users https://psnprofiles.com/forums/topic/8202-new-forum-members-please-read/

Finally just get involved and people will be interested in getting to know you. This is a good sub-forum to check out as these are different contests and events we have going on https://psnprofiles.com/forums/forum/3313-community-events-contests-we-plays/.

Anyways welcome to the site and hopefully you can get more involved :)

In my experience people add others to not feel alone while being online. Fair enough. But what's the point if there's no interaction whatsoever? I recently removed over 30 players from my list who added me but never talked to me at all. I actually don't see a reason for having them in my friends list. Well, "friends" list. There's only one guy would call a friend as we know each other since 2009.

I like the concept of Facebook, I don't really use it though.  Kind of disowned it a decade ago when I realized it was just people complaining a lot about things I didn't care about.

Now... if there were a Facebook that revolved around gaming, where I could effortlessly post up screenshots/videos, talk about new games I bought, reminisce about old games, and look at others doing the same... that'd be pretty neat. ;)  That's not terribly far off from what a site like PSNProfiles offers, but being able to share our captured media is a pretty big get IMO.

That's pretty much what Playfire was. But I left the site when the tracking system broke and stopped having fun in there. No idea how the site is today.

OT:

I only add people for gaming sessions. I don't have any irl friends that are gamers. I do have a couple guys from the chatadded, but that is all.

Apart from real-life friends, I can't really find a purpose in adding people to my profile. I play exclusively offline except when unlocking online trophies so adding friends doesn't have much meaning to me. I do add people when boosting, and I'm extremely nice to them when doing so, but delete them immediately afterwards, since I no longer find any purpose in having them on my profile. I basically treat boosting as a business transaction. You help me, I help you.

I did leave one person I boosted Assassin's Creed: Revelations with, though - he was just so nice, I couldn't find the courage.

I never really send friend requests but I don't mind accepting randoms - thankfully most requests I get are from people I played with online, and a while back I posted somewhere that I would help with some online trophies in PSASBR so I got a few requests for that (which worked out well as some people would notice that there were trophies I needed in other games and they would help me get some as thanks haha) but I tend not to remove anyone from my friends list as I like to see how other people are progressing in games they're playing

I just like it to have a nice chat from time to time. ^u^

Also, only one of my buds is from my country. There you can see how hard it is to find people who are also a "weeaboo". :awesome:

im not a weeaboo!!!!!!!!!! ,...... what is a weeaboo? xD

Many ppl talk about that they remove ppl from the list because they dont talk .... but is a empty list so much more fun than a list with ppl without talking? ..... i mean with empty list you cannot talk either? ...  But everyone can do with his list what they want :).

A negative prejudice people use for people who like japanese stuff, because they believe everything is just porn (including childs). Which is superlegit, because when it would include porn, it wouldnt be released in the west.

And when you are playing Counterstrike you will become a terrorist and when you are playing NeedForSpeed youll become a fucking car! :o Want to become god? Play Black&White. ... I know what I want :) *launchs Starcraft2* BATTLECRUISER OPERATIONABLE *is now a Cattlebruiser* pewpewpewpewpewpppppppew *charges Yamato-cannon*  weeeeeeeeeee KABOOOOM!!! >u<

Honestly almost all of my friends I have added on PSN now are people I regularly talk to and have met on various sites.. especially this one!

I think I would get super lonely if I hardly had anyone added like I used too.. I enjoy having a good conversation with a bunch of my pals and plus I always get a nice message or so from them.

Sure we may not be up there with the likes of Steam but I find it to be a neat little thing we have going for us, and the activity feeds are always nice. :)

Lately I've been adding lots of people from PSN Profiles for trophy boosting sessions. But after we've boosted the trophies, I usually just leave them on , in case there is another game we could boost together.

Now I've got this huge list of friends and I don't know who I played what with and when.

I wish there was a feature on PS4 that will allow me to add a note to a friend saying that I played this game with them. And these are the other games they play similar to me.

It doesn't phase me if people delete me after the trophy boosting is over.
