It would make a bit of sense. After all, why stop at 99% when you could get 100% and just get the platinum now? People these days do not have patience and some people don't like to see that a game took six months to platinum at the gap between the second-to-last trophy and last one was five months. I don't mind that Dragon Quest Builders had a huge gap between the 4th trophy and the 5th because I had been reluctant to continue playing, worried I would screw up and fail a challenge.
