I've been playing with the English dub and I don't see how it's "horrible" in any way. In fact, I think it's pretty good. I thought P4G also had a good English dub too, but so far, I prefer the one in P5.

Exactly this. Anyone judging the English dub should play the game with the English dub for a while first before judging it. When doing so, you'll notice that it's actually a pretty great dub and definitely not horrible or even close to that.

Yeah, I think people are all too quick to judge. I mean at least give it a chance before completely dismissing it. I mean we expect @Satoshi Ookami to hate any English dub, no questions asked, but I'd like to think everyone else can be a bit more open minded. ?

Its always been a sub vs dub in the anime community why would games from Japan be any different? My only beef with the english dub was the fact how deep Igor voice got vs what it was like in P3 & P4 but I eventually got use to it.

I would recommend playing through the entire game before judging the dub fully

I didn't check out the VA trailers before the game's release. Personally I think the English dub is quite good.

I did notice that some characters have VAs who did work on previous persona games.

I also detect the sound of many Dynasty Warriors voices.

I too like the English dub, although I find it inferior to the dub on, say, Persona 4. I actually like the new Igor (and besides, didn't his voice change from P3 to P4 as well?).

For anyone that has progressed through June (social studies trip)...

Spoiler

Did anybody catch the hint when Goro came up to the group and asked the team if he heard them talking about pancakes? This is some of the best foreshadowing I've ever seen in a game, because nobody mentioned pancakes at that moment except for Morgana.

All you hear is that this game is oozing with style and the art is amazing and blah blah blah. I think the writing is in a league of it's own.

Pancakes actually became a big meme in the P5 'community' because of this. More evidence that Goro is just meme bait. Anyway, I agree. Great foreshadowing on Atlus' part.

I am using the English dub on the English version and the Japanese dub on the Japanese version. If I wanted to here an adult pretending to be a teen I'd just watch any 90's american tv show.

Yup, yup. It's definitely more weird our party did not.

I've almost completed my first play through with all S.Links maxed... honestly I haven't felt this sad about finishing a game since P3/P4G. I don't know about phantom thieves, but this game definitely stole my heart. :D

NOVEMBER SPOILERS (after 6th palace/casino)

They do, and they even concoct a convoluted plan to get him and the public off their tails by making them think he won against the p. thieves.

Honestly the fact that everyone knew all along was more surprising than the actual reveal itself, although the writers may (i.e. probably) have intended it that way.

Since this seems like a more general topic for P5 at this point (and I can't think of a better place to ask), but what're people's thoughts on the original teaser trailer and how it connects to the game?

I haven't thought about this one in a while, but the overall message of "You are a slave. Want emancipation?" Kind of stuck with me. The message and such now makes a little sense given the game's theme, but I dunno. Just the way it's presented doesn't make me think of the final product is all. Not sure, I'd like to hear some others' thoughts on this though as I'm curious what you all think.

Probably nohow as the chair is not a protagonist.

Oh the glorious time when we believe P5 would come in 2015 xD

Anyway, Velvet Room. Sure, you are prisoner, but in a technical way, you are a slave to Velvet Room attendants and your own rehabilitation program.

I think the original message still sticks with the game. Besides the points Satoshi laid out, I also think it applies with the characters in their real world. They're breaking free of the supposed norm that everyone else seems to have embraced and are finding their own way as they do thief stuff.

To be fair it's been well over 3 years since that trailer first came out. Even then that theme of emancipation is, at worst, vaguely still there.

English dub is amazing. What's the complaint?

It's not Japanese :awesome:

'Amazing' English dub is always inferior to Japanese and especially P5 cast =D

Nah, seriously. The characters are Japanese, the setting is freaking Tokyo, there is literally no reason to play in dub =D

Since with P4G you had no option, it's obvious people would play mute with dub but if you have an option, there's no reason to play dub :P
