Some SNES love, by Konami, and they actually monetized a video I once did of this game...

Song by Kow Otani, his first crack at a video game soundtrack, and one of my more favorite PS1 soundtracks... He's known for Shadow of the Colossus and a lot of anime soundtracks...

lol I'm still looking for a good sheet version for this theme, but I couldn't find one.

I linked to another sone from the following soundtrack on the previous page, should be the first video in the first post on the previous page. Anyway, it's another soundtrack by Hitoshi Sakimoto (FFT, Vagrant Story, FF12 etc) where I think he did a great job.

This post has been all smhups and to finish it up related to the last game, here's a legendary one by Square Soft:

I'm sorry if this has already been mentioned but I haven't had time to read the full thread. One of my personal all time favourites is from Final Fantasy X and it is Jecht's Theme

.

I went over all my posts with lots of videos and put the videos in spoiler tags, hopefully that will make the experience of browsing this thread better for a lot of people! I also added a lot of text to each track, which might add to the enjoyability of the tracks I've posted too! :)

Sometimes I listen through Ninja Gaiden 2 soundtrack, this is a nice track from NG2!

This is not an original track from a game, but rather a funny remake! It's from Pokémon 1st and 2nd gen, and it's about who's the better trainer and who got the biggest balls!

The girl this theme is about was one of the very first PS1 mascots, not that it lasted long, but yeah... Guess why? :o

Oh, and here's a real life version of this girl in the intro of the second game... o.o o.o o.o The intro has pretty nice music too IMO. If you wanna skip the crinchy Japanese narrator voice (but honestly, why would you???), go to 47 seconds in.

A good chunk of this soundtrack can be described as porn music, or some do. I really like the soundtrack though, and the game!

The original Rayman game for PS1. One of my most favorite platformer games ever. The new ones are pretty bad in comparison IMO, just totally missed everything that was great about the original except for tight controls, though I liked the speedrun stuff and some of the treasure chest runs and "boss/music" levels! :) Anyway, this was one of those games you could put in your CD player and play the music like a CD!

Been playing a lot of Donkey Kong games lately and here is the very song that got me into the series back when I was a kid.

I've not really played DK all that much... :o But listened to this track several times today, it's a remix though...

I've honestly played Pokémon Ruby for like 500 hours!! Anyway, here's some of my favorite tracks from the game. I guess the three first are really based on much of the same melody basis, still very different, anyway enjoy!

EDIT:

Added another! :)

Oh, I remember the first Crash Bandicoot game so well. :) It had such a unique feel to it. A bit rough around the edges, but so good and it really captured it's own mood. I don't think CB2 did this as good, while CB2 was way more polished, but that may be why the first game felt so different. IMO, CB2 is by far the easiest CB game there is, and CB1 is waaay harder, not just to 100%, but just to beat... Pretty sure I got each of the 4 CB games by Naughty Dog for xmas! :P

CB1 had some very nice sound tracks! :)

I'm so over this track, heard it way too much, but it's like the classic I associate CB with:

For some reason, the Road to Nowhere levels always stuck the most out to me in this game, and is the most memorable, even if the levels are just one long line...

The music to the longest level in the game:

One of my more favorite tracks from the game, but definitely from the level that caused me the most pain. There was another similar outdoor rain level that was very near being completed, and would have been a much longer version of this level, but it was cut from the game.

The last boss... took me a while to get to this one due to many of the latter levels being quite hard and how the save system worked. Not only was the levels hard, but you had to make even greater accomplishments just to save... :P That's my biggest issue with this game. I can listen to this track for a long time though. :S

Wow, I have a few that particularly stick in my mind

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVWmELSsuHg

The Walking Dead was such a beautifully emotional experience to me, which had me weeping uncontrollably by the very end, and this song, I think, sums up the season brilliantly, a song about longing for older days, but accepting the present with the one or ones you love.

And speaking of apocalyptic father/adopted daughter stories, The Last Of Us was a stunning game with absolutely sublime environments, convincing characters and a raw story, but with the first thing I heard of this game, Gustavo Santaolalla's brilliant guitar instrumental for the main theme, I knew I was in for a particular treat.

Double whammy here. The Bioshock games have some fanatstical set-pieces, but the best parts about Infinite were the more toned down, emotional moments, so hearing the barbershop quartet was delightful, knowing that Columbia was far removed from the world below, and Rapture, having it's own unique identity, but sharing some things here and there. And the cover of the old hymn by Courtnee Draper was my absolute favourite piece of music from this game, giving so much character to her and Booker in that brief scene when they perform it together.

Child of Light has probably one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard in a Ubisoft game, or indeed, a small scale release. Their use of instumentals was phenomenal, especially coupled with the set-pieces that you see in the game, including the boss battles, where the composers really got to work. But the best piece of music in this game remains the theme used for the main character Aurora, in her journey across Lemuria to find to sun, stars and moon.

Another two. I would argue that Final Fantasy X had the absolute best music in the series, and whilst many themes remain memorable to me, such as Dancing Mad from VI, One Winged Angel from VII and The Promise from XIII, these two pieces of music perfectly encapsulate the emotion during X's story, and the greater experience with the Final Fantasy series' absolutely magnificent OSTs. To this day, To Zanarkand makes me experience chills to the bone, and makes me think of the opening cinematic, where the gang are ready to face their fate, and fight Sin and Yevon, or die trying.

The Mass Effect series was one of the most brilliant western RPGs to date, and will remain so, no doubt about that. But Mass Effect 2 was the perfect experience to encapsulate the series, and, indeed, all Bioware games. A small team, fighting insurmountable odds, the likes of which extended beyond them, or one race, but the whole galaxy. And they succeeded in so much. Making the game far more focused on squad mates, and introducing some of the best companions Bioware has ever created, giving a focused story and experience, and, of course, the Suicide Mission. To this day, I still get nerves when I pass through the Omega 4 relay to end the Collector threat once and for all. So obviously, an epic game need suitably epic music, which is where these two themes come in.

Finally, Quiet's Theme from Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. So many of the themes and characters of the Metal Gear series are unbelievably tragic, and since playing MGSV, Quiet crowns the list, or my list at least. She is one of the most sympathetic figures in any modern game I have played, and her motivations and character growth is more human than almost any other game character I have ever seen. The tender moments that Venom Snake and Quiet share in the more subdued and emotional scenes broke my heart, because being in the middle of the timeline of the Metal Gear series, the ending was inevitable. And the sacrifices made by both of them for each other makes them my OTP in my head. So Quiet's Theme quickly became one of my favourite pieces of music in a Metal Gear game, on par with Snake Eater, but due to it being fresh in my mind, Quiet was my choice here.
