Niadar
Hello everyone, thanks for visiting my Trophy Showroom topic. I recently switched into console gaming. Even though I owned every Playstation console prior to PS3, I was mainly a PC gamer. I've stayed in most of my games I played for thousands of hours in order to become the best. I could try to write up my PC gaming history sometime, if you guys would be interested, but for now I am putting it aside - after all, this is a Playstation forum. I'd like to push myself over the limits once more - I made a challenge for myself for year 2016 and it's consisted of these points: PST.org points: 1.) Have a Completion rate of over 90% 2.) Get 40 platinum trophies 3.) Write 250 posts 4.) Join the PST Completionist Leaderboard after finishing the first three points PSNP.com points: 1.) Have a Trophies per day ratio over 5.00 2.) Achieve an Average Rarity below 30% 3.) Supply a few guides and become a valuable member of this community Additional points: 1.) Try to get as decent completion stamps as possible 2.) Do not stack trophies, do not get auto-pop trophies 3.) Do not hide any trophy Most of these points seems quite simple, and achievable in 2016, right? However, I am already failing quite a lot of them, mainly the Trophies per day and decent completion stamps ones - I am really not as active as I would like to be and I have already struggled with some of the easier games, so I am sure it will be very interesting to watch me progress. I will try to update this thread after every completed game. Here is my Gaming plan for 2016: Currently playing: Styx: Master of Shadows (PS4): Enjoyment level: 8/10 Difficulty: 7/10 Time spent in-game: 5 hours, 48 minutes When I was choosing this game, I was not really sure if I would enjoy it or not, but I am pleasantly surprised. You really have to think and concentrate when playing it which is making it great fun. Who does not want to lurk in shadows and play as a bad guy from time to time? However, I am sure this game will take me much longer than any other game I have played so far, because I am struggling a lot and also taking my time, because it is the first stealth game I have played. Collecting all Insignia in each level will take me at least 3 tries, but I am really looking forward to the adventure. I'll be happy if I manage to finish this one in December. Finished games: 5.) Worms Battlegrounds (PS4): Worms Battlegrounds (PS4): Enjoyment level: 8/10 Difficulty: 4/10 Time spent in-game: 26 hours, 11 minutes (Timestamp: 2 weeks, 3 days) I've really enjoyed this game. I'd call myself experienced, because I've played every Worms game casually since Worms 3D, so playing this one was not really hard for me except for a few puzzle levels. I've enjoyed the fighting levels much more (especially the ones in Alien Invasion DLC and Bodycount mode), although I think the AI was much weaker than in some other Worms games (the best AI was probably in Worms Reloaded). I like that every new Worms game has some innovations (new guns, physics objects) and this one was no exception. I am happy that it continued with the Worms Revolution scheme (classes of worms) because it really gives the game a new dimension and much more fun. Sadly the online is pretty much dead, so it may take some time to find boosting partners. I could have had much nicer timestamp, if it was more active. 4.) Legend of Kay Anniversary (PS4): Legend of Kay Anniversary (PS4): Enjoyment level: 6/10 Difficulty: 7/10 Time spent in-game: 29 hours (Timestamp: 2 weeks, 3 days) I have to say I was quite enjoying this game, although it annoyed me sometimes. Maybe I am infantile, but I really liked it's humour. However, the main fact I did not like about this game was the high number of collectibles. Despite checking the GameFAQ more than actually playing, I've still managed to get screwed when I missed something. The game often decides to auto-save randomly and then there is no way to get back. There are a few points where you can save manually, but it always overwrites the same slot, so the only solution here is to back-up your saves to PS+ cloud. Another issue for me was the camera. It was often really hard to orientate in the middle of a fight and the passages where you had to time your jumps were gruelling. The game also has a few glitches in the end of the game. If you don't know about them, you may think that you are doing something wrong and keep wasting your time instead of exiting and restarting the game. I started to feel a little bit restless in the end and I was looking forward to the finish. The average time to complete this game should be around 16 - 20 hours, but I've struggled way too much. This game turned out to be harder than I had thought. 3.) Gravity Rush (PSVITA): Gravity Rush (PSVITA): Enjoyment level: 3/10 Difficulty: 7/10 Time spent in-game: 25 hours, 24 minutes (Timestamp: 3 weeks, 4 days) I guess this game was not my cup of tea, because I have been doing everything wrong since it's beginning. I've lost track of how many times I've been repeating attacks, fighting against bosses and trying to climb to the pipe in Rift Plains: The Mirage when Dusty was weakened. I can blame nobody else but myself - I added all of my Gems into Health, Kick and Spiralling Claws which made my Gauge Usage and Gravity Kick abilities incredibly low. I was not having much fun while playing this game, so I was trying to rush through it in hopes of finishing it soon. Needless to say, I was not paying much attention to gems collecting and noticing the mysterious couple. After finally finishing the story in 18 hours (7 - 10 was supposed to be average...), I found out that the challenges are actually even harder than the Story missions. This resulted into huge frustration and I pretty much slowed down. I took a week break from the game and then I started wandering around looking for gems, lowering the in-game sensitivity and practicing the challenges one by one. In the end, doing all challenges took me only 7 hours, which, in my opinion, is a great achievement, considering how much I've been struggling during playing, but I still found some of them very difficult and the slow loading times were annoying me every time I wanted to retry them. I am really happy this game is over - it took me well over 3 weeks due to my frustration. Ironically, I am now looking forward to the sequel of this game, when I finally understand the basics. But, I had not realized that I can control Kat while Speed Falling until the very last challenge, so I am sure it would surprise me with something new. 2.) Welcome Park (PSVITA): Welcome Park (PSVITA): Enjoyment level: 2/10 Difficulty: 4/10 Time spent in-game: 2 hours, 36 minutes (same timestamp) This game trapped me very well, because when I turned on my Vita for the first time, it launched automatically and I was thinking that it's only some kind of Vita tutorial. I was very surprised when the first trophy popped, and then there was no way back because I won't hide any trophy from my profile, ever. So I searched for the guide and I was glad when I read that it should only take one hour to 100% and so I got trapped once more, because it made me think - it's such a piece of cake that I don't even need a guide to finish it! Needless to say, that was a wrong thought. Everything had been going well (I only struggled a little with the Flick and drag and Happy Face challenges) until I made it to the 14 piece puzzle. I am not really skilled in puzzles. Even as a kid I rather played other boardgames - puzzles were boring me. And combined with being able to move through the sides, it was a real pain. After a full hour of raging, I finally did the 14 piece puzzle, but I had to surrender to the 15 piece one after one more hour. If it were not for the puzzle solving tool, I would not be able to 100% one of the easiest games... 1.) Bastion (PS4): Bastion (PS4) Enjoyment level: 9/10 Difficulty: 6/10 Time spent in-game: 14 hours, 37 minutes (Timestamp: 2 days, 10 hours) I picked up this game as my first one deliberately - I had already played it on Steam and I was having a great time. I also wanted to get 'The Stranger' as my first trophy, because I am completely new to trophy-hunting, so it suits me nicely. I did not manage to get all achievements on PC, so I was up for a challenge. Playing with a controller was definitely much easier - some weapons even slightly auto-locked the target, so finishing the Proving grounds trials was much easier. I really loved everything about this game - the story (I was pretty close to crying when I finished the game for the first time), the narration, the awesome soundtrack and the graphics. I am also glad that I got surprised when I first saw the Stranger's dream because I had not played the game on NG+ on Steam, so I did not know about it. I am a little sad that I don't know anything about Rucks, but I can see that it was intentional. I am really looking forward to play Transistor! Raitandrul
Average Rarity below 30% isn't possible with the 40 platinum goal you got there, unless you have loads of free time during 2016.

Niadar
Thanks a lot for your input, I've just updated the OP! Average Rarity below 30% isn't possible with the 40 platinum goal you got there, unless you have loads of free time during 2016. I hope you are not right, but I can see where you are coming from. With my current Trophies per day number, it does not look like it's possible. I won't be playing too much until May, but then I will have much more free time. I could be able to play for at least 1200 hours, and I deliberately picked up games which should take me less than 50 hours each (except The Crew and Call of Duty games). It will depend on the more difficult games (red in my chart) a lot. If you supply a few guides before the end of November, you'll be in the running for guide of the year.Just a little extra motivation... That's a nice motivation, indeed. However, I don't think that I'll be able to write a quality guide, because I'll be happy if I manage to finish Legend of Kay and Worms Battlegrounds this month. I checked the games I had already finished and found a few guides that are missing, but there are already guides over at PST.org which are very decent. I wish I had something special to add, but compared to them my guide would seem like a cheap rip-off. I guess I'll have more luck with some of the less popular games. Winston
Raintrandul is not wrong. It's gonna be a tough challenge. But if you'll succeed in this epic Project you'll have all my respect! If you want a fast and easy Ultra Rare under 30% ave. Rarity go for Frozen Synapse Prime. I managed to get in 4 day while also playing other games. I'm definitely gonna follow your journey since I like people that gives themselves a challenge.
James_Tonto
You have a long and harrowing path as a Completionist ahead of you. Some games are NOT worth beating, if you see an obscure title. Do some research before picking it up. There are possibly good reasons a game is obscure, like it being a pile of crap ^^. But the hidden gems, those obscure titles can really make a completionist's checklist stand out. I see Putty Squad is on that spreadsheet, it looks like a crappy title that you're better off avoiding. Instead you should play Okami HD. Wonderful game, that's just the right level of difficulty throughout. Apotheon is also supposed to be pretty good, but I've still got to start it myself, so I can't confirm if it's good or great yet ^^;.

I agree that the obscure titles are either hit or miss, so it's always a bit of a risk. Putty Squad seems like a game I would enjoy, and it should be a really easy one. But I can do some more research. I've already added Okami HD to my list and I am really looking forward to play that one. It seems like a really unique game and even though I am much more of a cat person, I am sure I'll have lot of fun.
diskdocx
As a 'hardcore' completionist, I have met most of your criteria. 268 plats, 2800 posts on .org, and numerous guides on that site (although I have not done any for PSNP), and am averaging over 5 trophies/day It was a lot of work to get above 90%, and probably I will not get over 98% due to some unobtainable trophies, and some DLC I don't wish to subject myself to (Uncharted 2&3 mostly). I will say now, a rarity under 30% on PSNP will be virtually impossible and unsustainable. Under 30% on the Playstation network would be easy, but remember that PSNP does not track 0% games, so every game is going to have at least one common trophy. For DLC, the rarity becomes even worse as the gamer count does not add unless you have earned at least one trophy from the DLC pack. For your rarities, are you counting completion %, or actually adding up the individual rarity of each trophy, and averaging it out? I am sitting at 49% rarity. I am fine with that number. I would think even getting under 40% would be extremely impressive, and probably very frustrating as a gamer.
Hemiak
If you lower the plat target you can play some UR 100% games, many of those have a much higher percentage of rare trophies. People like their plats, and will continue a hard or boring game longer if that shiny trophy is waiting to reward them, this pushing up the rarity of all trophies in those games. Many of the UR games have an average trophy rarity for the whole game around 40%. You'll really need to pick and choose to find games that won't hurt this stat more than they help and for the love of god, no DLC or you're completely screwed on this goal. Good luck man! FYI: BattleFantasia is your friend. Edited November 10, 2015 by Hemiak
Niadar
I finished Legend of Kay Anniversary and I updated my OP with another short review. I'll start playing Worms Battlegrounds within the next week. I would think even getting under 40% would be extremely impressive, and probably very frustrating as a gamer. Wow, that's a really impressive profile you've got, I can only hope that I'll be as dedicated as you in the next few years. Thanks a lot for the explanation. I count the Average rarity by adding up the individual rarity of each trophy and then I divide it by the number of trophies of the game. According to my chart, my Average rarity should now be around 39%, but according to my profile, it's currently at 44%. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I would still like to try to keep it as low as possible, but you guys are probably right that 30% is just a dream (when my countings don't work somehow). I would like to play Uncharted, God of War and Tekken games at some point, but their percentage turned out to be too high, so I removed them from my list. My criteria already seem to be a little bit restrictive, so I will see if I manage to success in my challenge. The one for year 2017 may be much different depending on my results. If you lower the plat target you can play some UR 100% games, many of those have a much higher percentage of rare trophies. Thanks a lot for your message. I've just checked the rarities of my platinum trophies and it looks like I've got a lot of Ultra Rare ones. Many of my games seem to be under 30% in my chart, so it's still a mystery for me how exactly are the DLCs affecting the stats. It will be really interesting to see my final percentage in the end of the next year. I added BattleFantasia to my list, but I am not sure if/when I will start it. I am completely inexperienced in the fighting games genre. I've only played a bit of Tekken when I was a child and I remember being quite terrible at it. Thanks a lot for your message. Again, I would encourage you to play games you enjoy. I rarely avoid a game because of the list, although I will stay away from online heavy games (just don't enjoy them), and won't buy any that have glitched/unobtainable trophies. I don't think most completionists would think more or less highly of someone based solely on their average rarity. While it might be nice, I would respect some one (and there are a number of them) with a 100% profile but a 50% rarity, over hundreds of games, than someone with 30% rarity, but only a handful. No disrespect intended, if you are a completionist, you will know the pain of grinding for hours for that one trophy that everyone else gives up on, and if you can get lots of UR trophies, more power to you, but the path you are choosing will be painful enough at times without trying to make it harder with rare games. Remember they are rare for a reason, and generally not a good one
Hemiak
*snip are you adding up every single trophy rarity and then dividing by the total trophies or doing it game by game and then dividing by games? The first way would be your true rarity while the 2nd would most likely be off since a game with 12 trophies would essentially have more weight per trophy than something with 100. Also, Dyad has a huge amount of URs. It's a very strange, fun, challenging game, and it could help drop your rarity if you're still looking. LeetWolf2
You should give up on average rarity as a single non "Rare" trophy can increase the average rarity trophy by a lot which will make it a nightmare to keep even below 50%. Every game has a common trophy in it which will prevent you from achieving your average rarity goal and it is not even a stat people use on this site to rate how good a gamer is at earning trophies, most people just ignore it.All of your other goals are totally doable if you push yourself though and I wish you good luck as a fellow completionist. manumatik
I agree with all the above opinions, I think average rarity is not a stat you should worry about too much. I would definitely sacrifice it to enjoy the games I like, no matter if they are UR plats or not. Time stamp, Completion Rate, Trophies per day, those are nice stats to track down but even those shouldn't bring you down too much as long as as you don't play too many games at the same time. Resuming, start a game, focus on that game, 100% it, jump to the next one. Choose the ones you enjoy first! Remember, it's all about the fun! I would definitely recommend the Souls games (obviously) or Bloodborne!
Niadar
I've just updated my OP and added the 'Currently playing' section again. I am about to finish Worms Battlegrounds, I just need the online trophies. Is there someone who would like to help me with them/who needs them as well? I've just created a Boosting section here and wrote in the Boosting thread on PST.org, but it looks like nobody has played the game to 100% it since August. It makes me a little bit angry, because my timestamp is getting ruined by these trophies. I would have already been done if it were not for them. are you adding up every single trophy rarity and then dividing by the total trophies or doing it game by game and then dividing by games? The first way would be your true rarity while the 2nd would most likely be off since a game with 12 trophies would essentially have more weight per trophy than something with 100.Also, Dyad has a huge amount of URs. I am doing Average rarity per game but the rarity which is you are suggesting to track is Average rarity per trophy! I'll definitely try your algorhythm when I have enough time and change some games in my chart to lower the percentage even more. Thanks for suggesting Dyad to me. You guys are right, this goal is pretty much obscure, but I don't want to give up just yet, because I am interested to see if I manage to achieve it and I'd like to challenge myself. There are many downsides which are limiting me, but this whole experience will be fun enough for me and hopefully you guys will enjoy it as well. I've already got many ideas for the year 2017 when I will be focusing on the other goals much more. So hopefully I'll still have enough time to play many of the games I had put aside in this year.
