Servers still up?

Thinking about picking this game up from a sale but I'm not sure though. What worries me the most is the fact that the platinum trophy for the vita version is unobtainable. How is that? I don't know the exact reason but I heard something about not being able to do co-op missions on Vita. You'd think the PS3 version will have this same problem too, sooner or later?

Yes, the servers are still up.

The Vita version is impossible because multiplayer co-op was removed and some missions are impossible to do with an AI partner.

Well that's good news (Not for the Vita part, but for the server part :P). Thanks for making it clear.

Natsume answered your question regarding the severs, but as for how good the game is, I would recommend it.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is a great yet unforgiving hackin' slash game, which requires a lot of practice and patience to master. The Single Player is very linear, straightforward and to the point; it gives you exactly 17 chapters in total: 3 chapters for the female characters (Momij - chapter 5, Ayane - chapter 11, and Rachel - chapter 7) and 14 playable chapters as Ryu himself. If you skip Acolyte, you are looking at 3 playthroughs total for the story based (and difficulty) trophies and another 4 for the chapter challenge trophies.  You will also need a reliable partner for the Master Ninja and Ultimate Ninja trials online along with grinding for 1000 kills with each weapon for the :platinum:

I would also like to note that some bosses can be 'looped' or exploited; however, not every boss can be exploited. Just figured I'd warn you.

Anytime. If you do attempt it, I wish you the up most luck my friend. It is a quality :platinum: to have in any cabinet for sure! The bosses are not as bad as I made them sound. However, instead they are just annoying or tedious. I still remember how to tackle the bosses via story mode as they are pretty much the same bosses while online. However, while online there health bar is tripled of that of story mode. Do not worry, they would still have the same moves and the same tactics apply, but for the online I would again recommend someone on the forums here or on .org, if here is not an option.

If you come across a boss via story mode giving you trouble, either I or Sergen-The-Boss (more Sergen-The-Boss than I) would know how to handle 'said' boss. I have a good knowledge of how to handle the bosses that pertain to Momiji and Rachel, but as for Ryu I remember only so much.

Of course the servers are still up, that's why I have my session up, I play this game online a lot and help people with the trophy every few days. Don't believe what x410xDragon said, there is a cheap way to defeat every boss however, with your limited weapons at the start, you won't be able to perform all the cheap tricks but when you are trying to master the path of the master ninja then you will be able to defeat every boss with ease.

Alexei cheap method:

Volf: cheap method:

Zedonius cheap method:

Rasetsu cheap method:

Genshin cheap method:

Fiend Ryu cheap method:

Tengu cheap method:

Elizebet cheap method, however parrying the attack that she performs here takes a lot of practice:

Elizebet cheap method only works in chapter 17 which is your 2nd encounter with her:

Armadillo cheap method:

Aside from cheap tricks to defeat bosses, you can twirl with Rachel in the team missions which is a move that makes you invincible while your partner kills bosses. But there is also a cheap trick to complete Ultimate Ninja 02 and 03.

Ultimate Ninja 03 cheap trick (canon method): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSr-pZNgcvc

If you start this game and you need a partner to help you with the team missions then let me know and you'll get the trophy easily with my help, I hope the videos help when you decide to play the game. Good luck :D

Good luck with that, you'll certainly be a worthy platinum achiever if you do it with someone else who hasn't done the missions before. It's been years since two fresh players ended up doing the missions with each other. There have been people that did the missions legit without cheating but they are normally helped by someone else who did the missions before them. Personally, I think it's best to get the online done as soon as you can on this game because it would take a very long time to end up becoming good enough at the game to do the missions as Ryu and we're nearing the end of 2015 here, you never know when the servers might close. But if you ever need advice for the team missions, just PM me here and I will likely be able to answer your questions. There are also some very good guides that Phorus made for this game and they've been published on this site so you should check them out. The trophy list is pretty straightforward but the two guides below should help with useful methods that should help you dispose of the regular enemies :D

Yep. Never played any Ninja Gaiden before and neither did my brother so this should be interesting :P. If I still got any question I will PM you! Thanks for the help :)

I can't see the servers being closed it's already been 6 years since the game was originally released. Credit has to be given to the developers if the servers were run by another company say EA they would have closed them years ago. I'm presuming the upkeep for the servers is minimal or easy to maintain as the servers aren't the best perhaps that's one reason they're still open? I feel if they do pull the plug on the online they will kill the NGS2 community there's only so much time you can play through the single player before you get sick of it.

As others have pointed out there are many loops, glitches and tricks you can utilize to your advantage whether your in single player or playing through the team missions. However any information you'll ever need is in my guides. I don't think you'll see a more complete representation of this game anywhere. Everything written in the guides I've produced are from 5 years of experience these are tried and tested methods.

Although I haven't listed strategies for every weapon for each boss in the game the reality is some weapons are terrible and are simply out-shined in every department. As far as every boss can be cheaped not every boss can be cheaped. The best example would be Fiend Genshin because he can't be looped, tricked or cheaped in single player therefore you'll have to learn how to fight him legitimately.

If the original poster plays the game I highly recommend utilizing the bunny hop/wind path technique which can be found in the General Advice guide along with every technique in the game and the situations/circumstances where they're useful. Your ninpo is just as important as your weapon choices having the right ninpo for the right occasion can make a world of difference. Feel free to contact me if you require any clarification or any advice on anything NGS2 related no matter how trivial it is. I don't believe anyone has actually started the game and used my guides yet so I'm interested to see how useful people find them as I originally wrote them for myself just in case I forgot a specific strategy :P

Actually, Fiend Genshin can be frozen offline with Enma's fang, however this method doesn't always work. Great work on your guides, if I remember correctly I have sent some people over to your guides so maybe they have been used by people who were looking for a good strategy. From what I saw, I think your guides are better than the ones that were published on playstationtrophies.org.

Thank you. Yes you can freeze him but not permanently like in team missions. Enma's fang is a terrible weapon though why you'd want to fight Fiend Genshin with it is beyond me. This weapon has very few practical uses and is too sluggish against the majority of enemies and bosses. I'm still adding new information to the guides as I find/remember them. I lost count how many loops/team loops have been detailed in the mission guide but I think its over 40!

Hilarious how people are worried about the servers....

Hilarious how your comment make no sense at all. Some people (Including me) strive to get an overall completion rate of 100%. The only things that can prevent this from happening is servers being down.

You know whats even more hilarious and also kinda sad? Selling trophies. Enough said.

Wow, how fast you get salty and i didn't named you personally in my post. :D This was in generell. If you care that much about your 100%, then just don't synch them until online is done.

And... what kind of allusion should be the last sentence...? This doesn't make sense at all. How ever, just don't synch the game then.
