Popular Post MMDE
I wanted to make a missable trophies guide for this game, but the trophies weren't the same as the achievements for Steam. I was hoping people could post what is required to get the few things that are missable, so that we can put together a guide with as few spoilers and things you gotta do as possible, so that people can enjoy the game and worry as little as possible about missable stuff. Here's the trophies I think is missable, and in the order you should worry about them: Best Bromance This is a trophy that you will be working on throughout an early portion of the game, and it depends on your dialogue choices at various points early in the game. This is because at some point in the game, you will get to a place called Gold Saucer, a famous tourist attraction. When you return to this place and stay there for a night, you go on a date with the character that likes you the most, which depends on some of your choices from earlier in the game. To get this trophy, you gotta go on a date with Barret, so he must like you the most to want to go on a date with you. For a complete list of things that affects Barret's liking of you, see THIS or THIS guide. There is an exploit that allow you to get infinite points towards Barret liking you in Cosmo Canyon, but preferably, you don't want to use this, because it seems even if you get to date Barret, the trophy doesn't necessarily unlock if the points are too high. I highly recommend keeping an extra save from before entering Cosmo Canyon if you plan on using the exploit. Add Barret to your party before entering Cosmo Canyon for the first time. Inside Cosmo Canyon, enter the room behind Tiger Lily's weapon shop. Talk to Barret and pick first and then second option. Leave the room, and come back to talk with Barret again. Every time you say "Go on" you get 3 more points, and you can choose "Yeah, whatever..." to leave the room and reset conversation. Just repeat until you get the desired amount of points, but remember, don't do more than you need. Consummate Cross-dresser After staying at Aerith's (Aeris) place, you're supposed to find Tifa. One of the things you gotta do is enter Don's mansion, and to do this, you gotta dress up as a girl. There will be many things you have to do to obtain the items required to dress up as a girl, and you gotta get the best items to be picked by Don and thereby get this trophy. There is a nice guide for this quest-line HERE. See the Light You need to obtain and learn Aerith's (Aeris) 4th limit break on Disc 1. This must be done before going to the Temple of the Ancients and after getting the Tiny Bronco from Rocket Town. You can read about this HERE and HERE. Waiting in the Wings When inside the Temple of the Ancients, you will fight a boss called Red Dragon, and after the boss is your only chance to pick up the red summon materia Bahamut, which is required to obtain this trophy. Bahamutype-0 There are two ways to get Bahamut ZERO. Either miss a Huge materia or get both the Bahamut materia and the Neo Bahamut materia also. Obtain from blue Huge materia: Get the missable Bahamut materia, which is required for Waiting in the Wings, so see that trophy for how to get it. Get the missable Neo Bahamut materia, which you can only get early disc 2, after the snow board, climbing an ice cold mountain wall, fighting the two-headed dragon boss Schizo and climbing to the top you will eventually get to a place where you start seeing the black robed characters again and eventually a save point. In the same room/screen, right before the save point there is the red materia lying on the ground. If you see a cutscene with Rufus and company, then you're in the correct screen, but just walked past it. See THIS guide for more info and pictures etc. Get the blue Huge materia. To get the blue one, you got to get all 4 huge materia during the story line on disc 2. HERE is some info on that. Dig up in Bone Village on Disc 3, but this requires that you didn't get the blue Huge materia during the main story. Simply miss one of the Huge materias and you won't get the blue one. Glitchy trophies: Chocochampion It seems this trophy is a bit glitchy or the exact requirements to unlock it is at the very least unknown. People have got it from winning the race from escaping Corel prison, and others have got it from winning races while breeding their chocobo later in the game. One person even reported to unlock it when they lost at a chocobo race bet. If it doesn't pop for you when escaping from Corel prison, don't be too worried. You can play a lot of chocobo races later in the game, and you may be doing that to breed a gold chocobo. The requirement might be that you need to wait and let the other chocobos finish the race, and not skip this portion of the race. If the trophy doesn't pop, just keep racing, try to do it with different controls auto/manual, don't use cheats. You may even want to try to bet on some chocobo races. The trophy is likely to pop eventually. You may also want to keep an extra save from Corel prison, and try that over and over if it doesn't unlock, but I'd suggest trying to at least get it while going for gold chocobo later in the game. Just to be clear, you can get a gold chocobo without breeding. Recommended to make trophies easier: You don't need to go through the entire breeding process to get a gold chocobo. For more info on breeding chocobos, see THIS guide. To get a gold chocobo without breeding, see THIS video. You can also get one from the Kalm Traveler after beating the optional side boss Ruby Weapon on disc 3, which is required for a trophy, by trading an item you get from the boss with him. Karnacharya
Leviathan is not missable. I've gotten it on Disc 2 (after Temple) before. Loose Cannon is definitely missable, though.

Yeah, I think you're right. I thought so too, but a guide I looked at said it is. This is kinda why I want it to be a community effort. Aerith's 4th limit break is very easy to miss IMO. lesk8vaincra
Agreed. Leviathan can be obtained in any disc, as long as yuffie is in your group Also, you can't get the Transcendant Convoker by stopping the train in coral. You either have to possess a "master level" materia of each summoning or beat emeral weapon and trading your loot with the man in Kalm Edited December 6, 2015 by lesk8vaincra
Arc-Tangent-
Transcendant Convoker is missable, if you don't get the Huge Materia from Corel, and if you miss some of the Summon Materias in the game.

You are wrong . When you beat emerald weapon you'll get 'harpe terrestre' (don't know how it is called in english) wich you can trade to a man in Kalm for a master summon materia (and also a master magic and master command materia) Edited December 6, 2015 by lesk8vaincra
MMDE
Just so everyone is aware, I removed Bahamut ZERO from the list, because I'm pretty sure, even if you miss out on all huge materia, you can still dig it up in bone village on disc 3. MMDE
doable, but very hard. I recommend not to miss it The bone village mini-game is easy enough IMO. Yeah, sure, get all the huge materia, it's for the better, but it doesn't make it missable if you can get it from that mini-game.

Not missable, but you can lose 5 to 10 hours looking for it... 5% chance is huge... That should be around 20 attempts. 5 to 10 hours??? That takes like 30 minutes tops... You are wrong . It's called Earth Harp, and you do indeed get it from beating Emerald Weapon, but that boss is a pain in the ass to beat. I will have to do some more checking on Barret's limit break. If it's not missable, then I will have to remove it, but if it is missable it will stick as is. Will also need to put in some more info on Aerith limit break, because that one is sooo easy to miss. I can assure you that missing this materia can be really painful if you have to search for it in bone village. Emeral weapon shouldn't be a problem if you know what you are doing, and anyway, it is needed for another trophy . Back in the days, i had to try like a hundred time to defeat it (back then, there was no internet ), but with nowaday's roadmap, anyone will beat it easily. Ruby is harder, but totally manageable IMO, the only "trully missable trophies" are Barret's date in golden saucer, and Aerith's level 4 limit. MMDE
Actually, Bahamut Zero is missable! You require both Bahamut and getting at least one of the four huge materias during main story line, else you can't get the materia or access the location. Will update the guide again with this info. 5% doesn't means "it will come once on 20 attempts", but "in every attempt, you get 5% chance of getting it" . I can assure you that missing this materia can be really painful if you have to search for it in bone village. Yeah, yeah, but I played that mini game many times, and had fun with it. You just gotta know where to place those dudes to pin point the treasure. Each attempt shouldn't take more than 1-2 minutes max.

MMDE
Vincent is missable ??? You can get him on disc 3 just fine. You don't necessarily get a lot of the trophies in this game, but as long as you can always get them without resetting the game because you missed something and have saved past that point, they are not considered missable. Anyways, I made some more adjustments to the guide, and I think it's rather finished to me now. Please do give feedback etc about things I should change or add etc. Edited December 6, 2015 by MMDE
lesk8vaincra
None of the optionnal characters are missable :-)
ItsCraftyMatt
Vincent CAN be permanently missed. If you mess up during his dialogue sequence you can miss him. This will only pose an issue for newer players. Worth bringing up for the many players who have never played this game back in the old days.

ItsCraftyMatt
I dont remember that, are you sure? Which option would you have to chose in order to miss him? He has specific dialogue choices for him to join the party. If you mischoose one choice, he will ignore you and you cant persuade him to join you again afterwards. I remember doing this my first time back on the PSX days pre-internet

I remember doing this my first time back on the PSX days pre-internet I'm still pretty sure that you can at the very least leave the building and come again later. I have never heard of anything making him missable and i have never missed him, even if i absolutely don't know what choice i have to chose. You have to talk to him several times, he'll go in his coffin again, then when you leave the building he'll ask you to wait for him. Also, nothing i can found on the internet says that you can miss him :/
