Popular Post AlteredFormula
OK, So here it finally is, the first PSNP interview. This time around its with BDKSimba, and a few of the community questions got thrown in for good measure. A massive thanks to BDK for his time on the interview, Its lengthy detailed answers like this that will make this work. Finally, all responses are unedited unless I've noticed a word has been missed and thrown it in. I dont want peoples responses to come across as though I've written them. 1.) Tell us a little bit about yourself, what do you do do for a living? About BDKSimba, well currently I'm living in Upstate New York USA. came across this town back in 2001 rite after I got out the Army. if it's anything I recommend to anyone it would be an awesome experience to join the Military in some form or fashion. I'm 37 years young rite now and like most I been gaming since the 2600 days. I'm more a 3rd person shooter gamer but will every now and then play something different. been working @ My job for about 7 years give or take a month or two. I work as a laundry aide in a nursing home. can't say there is anything overly exciting about it but I love it. been @ it so long it's almost like I'm My own boss. I get no flag about it plus it's something I enjoy doing. My parents always say," if you love your job, you will never work a day in your life." and really, going to work is almost like a get away @ times. 80% of the time I'm either @ work or @ home with My immediate family. the other 20% I got a gun to My head and dragged off to some sort of family gathering by she who enforces the law. 1 of the things I most often tell people is, " I'm 1 of the koolest people ya could know". 2.) I understand your a married man with children, how many kids have you got? Well, in all legality I'm not really Married. I've been with the same Beauty for almost 10 years now and even though We haven't went and exchanged rings she really is My wife. I know I should just go and get it over with and all, but I have been married legally before and really, except for the exchanging of vows there really ain't no difference. in total, the last time I counted 4, hahaha. . My oldest a " girl ", from said previous marriage, My own little Angel on earth, just Graduated form high school @ the age of 16 years old with honors on the deans list and few more certifications that @ the moment slips My mind. My other 3 are from My current marriage. I have a son 8 years old. My Pride and Joy. My little man. trying to get him into football he's build for it and further down the line into the Marines. My 3rd is a Monster @ the prime age of 4 years. seriously, she's a terror . I tried getting My hands around her neck but being the 1st daughter of the 1st Lady warrants her immunity from everything. hahaha, a frigging little Monster. and last but far from least is My baby girl. will be turning 2 in September coming. My own little " fat fat " as I love to call her. a beauty among beauties, looking just like her mama . 3.) How do you balance your hobby with your responsibilities as a husband and a father, does anyone in your family share your passion for gaming? See now, I've never found it difficult really. I get a lot of gaming hours in due to My work schedule. I work odd hours most days. My main shift would be 9 pm @ night to 5 am in the morning. so when I get home everyone is still sleeping. so I'm able to squeeze in a good 3 hours in most mornings before anyone gotta get up. and by 9:30 am all but the baby is @ school or work, so it's just Me & the baby who is usually a sleep by 11:30 am. I would sqeeze in a couple hours of sleep time with her. the wife won't get out of work till 6 pm and due to various after school programs, she would pick up the kids on her way home . so I mean, the hours are there it's good time management that makes it a plus. and really, since the military, I have a mind set that I really don't need more than 4 hours a sleep per day. most people think this crazy but that's how My days have been for about 15 years. My son, " I frigging Love My boy ". not taking anything away from My girl, but " I frigging Love My boy ". not just for the fact that he idolizes Me in every way but for his age, he's extremely smart and has a nack for gaming. and an up and coming Hunter too . We get a lot of gaming in. if there is any games that require any offline Co-op play, that's My #1 wing man. from Resistance 2 to Lost Planet 2 he's always there. I mean, he even gets a kick outta just sitting there and watching his dad play. don't let him be there and say I've been grinding away @ a specific trophy and it pops, We do the Monkey dance together. hahaha . case in point, MK vs DCU. had the hardest time with the Shang Tsung Kombo. when that popped and then the Plat popped hahaha, well ya know, the wife almost had to call animal control. hahaha 4.) Something I really need to get round to battling myself at some point, but Broy asks how your battle with quitting smoking is going? you both quit at the same time, when was that? Geez, smoking. I would have to say, getting hooked to cigarettes has to have been the worst decision in My entire life. I mean, worst than the stupid shit I did in My youth that got 6 months of My freedom taken away. sorry to say, Broy, I hope that you were a lot stronger than I have been. My answer would have to be that I'm still hooked and really haven't made any progress in quitting. but what will add is, a friend has suggested using an E-cigarette and as of late I have been researching into that and it might be a method that might work for Me. well, till then the inevitability of Cancer is still on My plate. 5.) So... It had to come up, this game has been the bane of your life!! Lost Planet 2. Eburkulosis asks what is the probability you will obtain platinum? How much do you have left? How many hours do you estimate? Are you going to burn the game in a ritualistic fashion when you finally pop that plat? Lost Planet 2, LP2. in all reality, I frigging love everything about this game. the game play the graffix the story, everything, but the LeaderBoards. the LeaderBoards weren't properly thought out. and with that said, unless a patch of some sort is released the probability of obtaining the Plat is slim to none. it is My honest belief and most might not agree with this statement," but half or more than Plat holders of this game has hacked or loaded up a save file of some sort ". I will live with the fact of not completing this than to tarnish My list with a hack. but with 2 trophies left for the Platinum and with the inevitability of never Plating this game I'm in no way giving up on it. so I still foresee countless hours of game play left. just that I think that I've hit a wall where I have to give it a break and move on for now . 6.) The next question is from Psxtreme_, What is your 1st memorable gaming experience...what game...what system... was it single player, MP, etc? Wow, 1st memorable gaming experience would have to be " Pong ". back on the Atari 2600. and as simple of a game as it might be considered in this time and age, it was the shit back a couple decades ago. geez. where has the time gone. Me and My older brothers got a couple multiplayer games in, but as now, I spent most of My time playing single player. 7.) Oscar knows you like quality over quantity when it comes to plats, and you have a near perfect list. How do you pick what game you will tackle next when it comes to the ultra rare plats? Definitely the 1st thing is getting My moneys worth. I mean, most would consider getting there moneys worth in just enjoying the game, but for Me, I usually enjoy every game I play with the exception of 1. so I usually wanna make sure it's not a game I'm gonna finish over night. I usually look for games I will be playing for @ least 2 or more weeks. the game it self also has to been out for a while, a year or 2 to ensure a proper Ultra rare status. really, I've just recently undertaken this mentality within the past 2 or so years after joining that other site and seeing that there actually a following behind the harder games. and almost instantly got addicted to the harder trophies. and till of late, never really thought except for where the server has been taken down, that any trophy was impossible to obtain. everything just takes practice, patience and time. 8.) What is your Favourite game of all time, any system? Now We're getting to the meat and potatoes . without any doubt it would have to the be the " Dead Space series " for the PS3 of course. who haven't dreamed of being a space marine of some sort flying through space with a license to kill . well, for Me above all other, the " Dead Space Series " fills that hole for Me. I've played a lot of games, not just that on My trophy list and for some reason nothing compares . and I know, for sure, it's not the best game gaming series ever created, but you can't convince Me of this . I mean, the Devs have changed every aspect of every game in the series. from 3rd person, to 1st person, to rail shooting. even adding the 3 save concept in DS2 I thought was an awesome addition to increase difficulty and so hope for DS3 they bring it back or with some sort of added difficulty just to increase the fun factor for Me. 9.) Rory asks, but we all want to know, you sponsor promotion of members on a monthly basis to premium, but why did you start it, and why do you choose to continue to do this a year on? Can't say I've Officially thank Sly for creating this awesome community, so here it is " Thanks for Creating this Awesome Community " . really, the site fills a need for Me that I think is more than worth sponsoring 3 members to Premium status on a monthly basis. the features on the site helps Me enjoy My games so much better. even though the initial goal was to try and get more activity in the forums cause really I believe in order for the Community to blossom people gotta get to know each other, and nothing beats the forum when it comes to communicating. and the reason for keeping it going is the fact that I'm here everyday, I use 80% of the features everyday, the people/gamers I've met here are all individual characters from all walks of life from all over the world. most of which put maturity above childish antics. even the kids on here @ times you can have a mature discussion with, for what it is worth . and really, I have no intention on closing that forum anytime soon. all in all, this is My way of giving back to the community. it ain't nothing extravagant, but it's My little nitch. and have noticed a few Prominent Members making their own little nitch to further promote the site . good deal if ya asking Me. 10.) A final question from me, what is the with the fascination with lions dude?!! Hahaha. next to " favorite game of all ", this My 2nd favorite question. really, it started from when I was a wee cub. hahaha. My gold skin tone and the fact I had a lot of hair on My head I've always been compared and told I looked like a lion. when I was a teen a friend of mine just made mention how much I reminded him of " Simba " and really ever since have been known by nothing else. I have friends in real life that really do not know My real name. and @ times I won't answer to nothing else. a lot of powerful words, people and phrases are associated with the Lion, including yours truly . as for the " BDK ", I got that from My wife. Well, I just wanna say Thanks to Sly for the site once again. thanks to AlteredFormula for his Awesome selecting abilities. and thanks to the Community for making every visit here a reason for Me to come back. Get active and I'll catch up with you all in the Forums. ltr. So there it is, you've all got enough there now to go and get to know BDK. Hope you enjoyed the read.

Nasty_Rory
Thanks BDK Simba, I enjoyed that interview and its always good to get a perspective on the folks you meet in communities such as this. I know they always say gaming is for kids but there are alot of us out there in their late 30s and 40s As for the smoking BDK, I got around "quitting" (as I ain't a quitter!) by just telling myself that I was taking a very long time between smokes. In the past 5 and a half years I have had 3 cigarettes (due to being very drunk and just forgetting myself) And there are still mornings that I wake up thinking "where did I leave my fags last night". Looking forward to the next victim AF
