Popular Post Lord_of_Ra
VERY IMPORTANT REGARDING DEVIL HORNS' EXPLOIT: If you own a digital copy of the game and it is patched with 1.01+ you WILL have to delete and re-download the entire game. Deleting the game data won't solve the problem. Update: I downloaded DS3 again, and you're asked if you want to install the patch or not. I selected not to do it and after following the steps they (devil horns) unlocked for both Hardcore and Pure Survival. As a bonus, if you get to a spot where you can equip them and then the game saves your progress, you're free to install the patch again and they won't disappear. To be safe, have them equipped before doing so and Get to chapter 4 in both difficulties on different saves too. How to obtain Devil Horns for Pure Survival and Hardcore: http://www.playstationtrophies.org/forum/dead-space-3-a/188707-dead-space-3-hardcore-guide-encyclopedia.html#post3406596 ----------------------------------------------------- Welcome to the Classic mode tips thread. Here I'll try to focus on posting anything that can be found useful for your run on said diff. I had this idea after spending some hours investigating over the web what weapons would be best suited for this one, as it is considered by some to be the hardest run in the entire game if you aim to use the devil horns glitch on subsequent difficulties. --------------------------------- Ok, that's enough blah blah blah about me. The purpose of this thread is also to encourage you to share what would you consider useful too, especially weapons and upgrades. To make it even more simple, I will be rummaging through all the posts and make some sort of ranking for weapons and other upgrades depending on how much people agree or comment on that same weapon. The OP will be updated with said ranking plus my personal and much less cool one Alright, I guess that pretty much sums it up. Oh yeah just a request: Don't come commenting some stuff like "oh you using glitch, you're a fag, etc." Yeah yeah you wanna be cool and stuff but nobody cares. Plus, If I find you insulting other people directly or indirectly like the comment before, you will be reported. Everybody might have a different take on the game here, so stop trying to be an attention-seeking baby, k? Other than that, you're more than welcome here ----------------------------------- 1. General Tips: 1. Be sure to always send your scavenger bot to resource areas. You won't only get much needed resources, but you will get ration seals. With this stuff, you can buy DLC resource packs without wasting a penny. 2. Always buy the 10 ration seals DLC pack whenever you can, the others are a waste of money as weapons parts aren't allowed on this playthrough. 3. Dodge roll can be useful sometimes, especially during chapter 12. However, against normal necromorphs and humans, I found that you will still get damaged even mid-roll. As such, it is a waste to do that and you will only get yourself killed. 4. Chapter 8 is your recharge station. Here you will find certain structures that are spots for infinite resources, stasis packs and health items. They are hard to miss and you will even be forced to enter at least one during this chap, unless you want to freeze your ass. They are like this: They are a vital point if you want to make this playthrough way easier and comfortable. Check this vid for info regarding the glitch: Update: I can confirm that an item will duplicate as soon as the door closes, you press unlock and it opens again. This means you don't have to enter every time to make this exploit happen. Just open the door, backtrack, let it close, press unlock. Rinse and repeat. It will be much faster. 5. Be sure to use said stations to farm lots of health packs. These will be extremely useful for later chaps. There's a bench not too far from the first station after climbing a ladder, so you go and use the safe to store your items, return and repeat the same process. You won't get another chance to do this later on. So hey, low on health packs or resources? Spend some hours farming here and you'll be good as new! 6. Be sure to have a decent amount of health packs (preferably medium ones) at the start of chapter 12, and either an automatic powerful gun or the probe gun (story-related). 3 rows of health packs will be more than enough. 7. If you have Mass Effect 3 or Dead Space 2, start them and keep their save files so you can unlock both the N7 suit and the Planet Cracker Plasma Cutter. I found that N7 Suit has offered me a bit more protection than other suits so far and Planet Cracker is 3x better than normal plasma cutter for 9+ chaps in the game. 8. Make the Javelin Gun as soon as possible and start pouring your best upgrade circuits into it. This weapon is absolutely marvelous for taking out ANY kind of necromorph later on. 9. I highly advise NOT doing the optional missions. They're way more useless as you can't acquire weapon parts, plus you'll be wasting tons of ammo during every end section of them. Skip them. 2. Rank: Top Guns (community) - 3. Rank: Important upgrades (Rig, circuits, etc.) - 4. Personal rank: Top Guns 1. Pulse Rifle 2. Javelin Gun (Even better than Pulse Rifle on later chaps). 3. Probe gun (when you get it replace the upgraded javelin gun if and only if such gun doesn't have enough damage compared to probe and keep it throughout chap 11-13, discard it afterwards). 5. Personal rank: Important upgrades Rig: 1. Armor. 2. Health. 3. Stasis. Circuits: 1. Damage output. 2. Reload. 3. Rate of fire (for slow guns) or capacity (for the rest). 6. Necromorphs: Where to shoot before they give you a MK fatality. I highly recommend the Javelin Gun for pretty much any kind of necromorph by shooting at a part that won't come off and then electrifying it. Hence why it won't be out on weapons recommended. However, the weps below are also decent choices for dealing with threats. 1. Slashers/ Advanced Slashers Parts to shoot: legs and then either the head or their bladed arms, though I found focusing on the arms is more effective. Recommended weapons: Plasma Cutter and then Javelin Gun when you have it with decent damage. Strategy: Stasis if they get close, and also shoot their heads or they'll grab you and take out a huge chunk of life. Other than that, focus on the parts mentioned above and you should have no further troubles. 2. Leapers/ Advanced Leapers Weapons: Plasma Cutter, Pulse Rifle or Javelin Gun (Stasis needed). Personal weapon of choice: Pulse Rifle and Javelin for advanced. Where to shoot: ARMS ASAP, this will give you a huge advantage against these. Strategy: annoying dudes that will damage you almost 80% of the time. Use stasis on the ground below them as these are fast. Focus on the arms and they will crawl much slower towards you. I don't particularly recommend javelin unless you know how to shoot at their bodies quickly, otherwise the spear will just tear down their part and whiff, making you use 3-4 shots until you have high damage. Otherwise, stick with Javelin for advanced. 3. Pukers/ Advanced Pukers Weapons: Plasma Cutter. Shoot: Legs and Head. Strategy: stay away from these dudes. Their puke is very damaging and 1 of these can easily kill you if you're reckless. Take out their legs or shoot a Javelin through their bodies then electrify it to kill them. Not much else to say other than thankfully, unlike Dead Space 2, these are now very rare encounters throughout the game, same as Pregnants (see below). 4. Cyst: Easy, just approach them carfully, let them throw their bomb and catch it with Kinesis. If possible, kill the ones attached to the walls first and then use the bombs to kill the ones on the floor last. Just use the wep that will consume less ammo. These little pricks aren't that tough to deal with. 5. Pregnants Weapons: Plasma Cutter. Shoot: Legs Asap and then bladed arms. Similar to slashers, however their legs might not be very visible and you can;t afford to spend much time with these or they will open their bellies and hell unleashes. In short, be very quick to take out their parts and/or use a javelin to electrify them. These aren't common either. 6. Lurker Weapons: Plasma Cutter. Where to shoot: tentacles. Strategy: these shouldn't pose much trouble. Stasis is very useful. However, these dudes become an annoyance in zero g areas, especially on chapter 16-17. If you hear one in the distance, land first, then start dealing with them. Stay away from them as they like to jump onto you, and use dodge-roll if they shoot at you from afar. 7. Exploder Weapons: pretty much anything that can cut or pierce limbs if you want to use their yellow bombs, otherwise an automatic weapon. Plasma cutter and pulse rifle are my personal choice. Where to shoot: depends, I recommend focusing on the sack unless you have enough time to cut the limb off and use it as a bomb. Be sure to focus on the sack on chapter 17. Strategy: at first, they shouldn't pose much trouble, however they will become an annoyance at later chaps. An automatic weapon makes it even easier to deal with these scrubs. Take them out asap. 8. Stalkers Weapons: Pulse rifle or any other automatic weapon. Where to shoot: legs. Strategy: Stalker encounters are always something to keep an eye on, especially during your hardcore run. As soon as they shout and run at you like crazy, take out you plasma rifle and start shooting life craz at their legs, or use your grenade launcher to take them out quickly. I would suggest using your automatic fire thogh as GL consumes a LOT of ammo. 9. Guardian: Weapons: Grenade launcher or high damaging Javelin+ Electricity. Shoot: Tentacles. Strategy: If I remember correctly, you'll only face 2-3 guardians in DS3, perhaps more if you go for the optional missions. You must take out these dudes asap or they will be a nuisance before you know it. Aim at the center of their body and let loose your Pulse Rifle's grenade launcher at them. This will usually destroy all the tentacles in 1-2 shots. 10. Nest Weapons: Pulse rifle or your automatic weapon of choice. Shoot: Glowing bulbs. Strategy: part of the Nexus boss battle. Start unleashing your barrage of bullets as soon as they appear while steering left and right to avoid their projectiles. You will get ammo in here so don't be afraid to become Rambo. 11. Twitcher Weapons: Plasma Cutter, stasis (obviously). Shoot: legs Strategy: the good thing about these dudes is that while they're fast, their hits won't damage you too much if you have focused on upgrading your life and armor, which by this point, it shouldn't pose a problem. Stasis them asap and take out their legs to make them much slower or at least give you some time to think what to do next. Twtichers aren't hard to deal with, however, there will be a part on chapter 15 in which they will appear along with rocket launchers. Move out of the range of the rocket launchers and stay on that spot while dealing with the twitchers. 12. Leviathan Tentacle Pic not available but you'll encounter them by chapter 4-5 in a reactor room. Weapons: Plasma Cutter at first, upgraded stasis. Shoot: bulb. Strategy: Do not bother too much with these as they are infinite. Be sure to focus on getting away from their range as soon as you kill one cuz another will soon appear. Once you do that, forget about them unless you need to pass right next to them. If that's the case, just use your stasis if it's decently upgraded. Don't waste ammo. 13. Waster Weapons: Plasma Cutter and you know what else. Shoot: Legs, head, and tentacles (if they sprout out) Strategy: these dudes are a pain in the ass. Your main priority is taking out their legs. If they don't sprout tentacles, then focus on their heads as they won't grab you if they somehow get close to you. Don't use an automatic weapon with these dudes as they are ammo wasters (no pun intended). 14. Feeder/advanced feeder Weapons: Plasma rifle and grenade launcher unless you have a high damaging Javelin. Shoot: anywhere, head if you can. Strategy: These are your no. 1 concern whenever you find them. They are extremely dangerous and might cause you a death or two. ALWAYS back up to a corner where they won't appear behind you before anything. Use Stasis while you look for it if necessary and use grenade launcher or shoot a javelin to the ground and electrify it to reduce their numbers from afar. You need crowd control for these dudes, as such, Plasma cutter is useless. 15. Creeper and Shambler Shambler pic not available. It is the body the Creeper possess. Weapons: Plasma Cutter. Shoot: Head and nothing else (Creeper). Strategy: Do NOT bother with the body or you'll be wasting tons of ammo. Always focus on the head. Plus, after they first appear, always stomp a human-looking body afterwards. That way, they won't know what to posses and will be much more vulnerable. Heads themselves are a bit tough at first, but shouldn't pose much trouble. 16. Swarm. Weapon: automatic nor nothing if you're full on life. Strategy: you should only bother dealing with these if: 1. You're low on health. 2. There are various bodies around. If none of the above are present, then just shoot some then let the rest come near you. They don't cause too much damage and shaking them off will cause you to save some ammo. 17. Alien Necromorph Weapons: Javelin, javelin. Shoot: anywhere. Strategy: Deal with these from afar if possible. Javelin Gun is your best bet as they'll go down from 1- 2 bolts plus electricity. Otherwise, use you grnade launcher as they take a lot of punishment to go down. It doesn;t matter too much where you shoot, so go trigger happy on these dudes. 18. Alien crawler. Pic not available, they appear as red-glowing insects during chaps 16 onwards. Weapons: Automatic guns. Shoot: Glowing body. Strategy: Deal with these ASAP. If they come near you, you'll regret it. Have a high-capacity plasma rifle with rapid reload as these can close in pretty quickly, especially on the climbing parts. Be always sure to heal if you're on yellow or below. --------------------------------------------- If you have questions or suggestions, feel free to post them here. I own a digital copy of the game but it says its on 1.02v. Do you know if I will be able to do the DH exploit if I delete the entire game as of now? Tried deleting the game data for the Infinite ammo glitch but it didnt work Edit: Ok. I deleted everything and re downloaded the game. I can now access the raw version of the game and everything works. Edited January 9, 2019 by angelbless45
MATT_THE_FLY
Hey sorry for the bump but does anyone know if you're still able to do the glitch on the digital version of the game by deleting and redownloading it if you've already downloaded the awakened dlc as well? MATT_THE_FLY
On 26/05/2019 at 3:25 PM, MATT_THE_FLY said: Hey sorry for the bump but does anyone know if you're still able to do the glitch on the digital version of the game by deleting and redownloading it if you've already downloaded the awakened dlc as well? Slight 3 month bump but I can confirm that the devil horns glitch will still work even if you've installed the awakened dlc. The only inconvenience is that you have to delete both the game as well as the contents of its utility folder and then redownload it as well as complete one additional playthrough. Here are the steps to activate the glitch if you've downloaded awakened: 1. If you haven't already, complete a playthrough on classic difficulty WITHOUT DELETING ANYTHING first. This will enable you to unlock the devils horns 2. Delete your dead space 3 data in the GAME DATA UTILITY folder as well as the game itself. Don't touch anything from the SAVE DATA UTILITY 3. Redownload the game without awakened dlc from the ps store 4. Here is the crucial step - DISABLE INTERNET ACCESS from your ps3 before you load the game up and then attempt to load your classic playthrough. The game will deny the save and will state that it is either corrupted or needs the awakened dlc. This is perfectly ok as you do this step to enable the game to recognise that you've completed classic difficulty and to also receive the devil's horns. 5. Create a new save file and replay the game again preferably on the casual difficulty. If you've done the previous steps correctly, the game should tell you in the main menu that you've unlocked the devil's horns and that they've been transferred to your safe. Additionally, you'll have access to them during this playthrough once you reach chapter three so you can speedrun this step. 6. The option for new game plus should be unlocked and you should now have access to the pure survival and hardcore difficulties. Just reach chapter three once again and you'll get the devil's horns. The rest of your playthroughs will be a breeze and you'll earn your nice shiny platinum in no time!
