Popular Post FreshFromThaDeli
9th Run aka the Platinum Run! Finally did it! What a journey this was Only intended one try tonight and this was the one that sealed the deal. Took 25 minutes from the save I had. Final boss was piss easy with the fully upgraded Contact Beam. Watched a quick YouTube video for the flight pattern in the last sequence and managed do it all in one try. Phew! This game is fantastic and I'm keen on completing the trilogy with Dead Space 3 in a few weeks from now. Overall, Hardcore mode has given me experience in a 1 life mode, albeit 3 saves is generous compared to the likes of Max Payne 3 and Wolfenstein 2. One day I plan to go for Mein Leben and I will look back on my Hardcore journey in Dead Space 2 to find the inspiration to go for it. 1 hit deaths are and always will be bullshit.

KingGuy420
I have the worst hardcore story I think. I got all the trophies except Zealot, Hardcore, and the limbs. I planned where I wanted my hardcore saves to be. I was going to play Zealot up to where my first hardcore save was for practice, then jump to hardcore and do it, then repeat. I got to my final save on Hardcore, Zealot was at the same spot. I thought "alright, I can't wait to finish this tomorrow". Woke up the next day... and my PS3 wouldn't turn on >.< Never touched the game again.

Ps3 didn't have hibernate like the ps4.. you can pause games or fall asleep and come back on ps4. Im sure they could have put hibernate in the ps3 but maybe they fell asleep in that department. They dont want people sleeping cause it is less profit for Sony.

MatThaRiPP3R84
there is a glitch you can use to make the 1 life run easy, but then tbh it does let you have saves so u really don't need it, still there if u wanna use it though.

Popular Post Sisik2205
Save 0 (Deaths count: 2): Chapter 1: Missed the first Stasis shot = instant death, let’s goooooo Chapter 2: When hanging from the train missed Stasis, then missed exploder and then kaboom Save 1: (Chapter 5) (Deaths count: 6) Chapter 6: Got killed by one of the last stalkers, could have been easily avoided if I didn’t forget to recharge my stasis ugh Chapter 9: Fooking hell ... I was on chapter 9, wanted to make a save on chapter 10. Had to do some work so I've paused the game. Once I got back, I’ve noticed that my PS3 turned off ... Fooking fookity fook. I forgot that when you set up the console after formatting, the power saving mode is on by default. Since PS3 is retarded, it doesn't give a fook that you're playing (unless you set it otherwise). It doesn't have a sleep mode so it just turned off the console completely ... Chapter 9: There is a section where you ride an elevator and then you have a breakable window to the left. Shot it too close to the the elevator and got sucked in with hardly any time to close it. Stupid mistake on my part. Chapter 5: Fight after the cutscene with Daina, had a Ripper Blade equipped and when I’ve tried to swap it for Plasma Cutter got eaten. That was dumb, I guess frustration is getting to me. Chapter 8: Zero gravity, where you stasis the block so you can fly through. Probably touched the flames with a tip of my shoe so of course I’ve died. Chapter 9: Room full of Stalkers + one Guardian. Got too close to the Guardian and got beheaded instantly (I totally forgot that it can do that … even on Stasis, sigh and I was so close this time). Save 2: (Chapter 9, right before boss fight) (Deaths count: 1): Chapter 12: When going for drill’s second component I got brain dead. Missed numerous shots on both Dark Slashers and died. Save 3: (Chapter 13, right before the red oval room(s) as I hate this part) (Deaths count: 4) Chapter 13: In the first room after the save. What a great call that was Chapter 13: Same place as above. Although I have to admit, that knowing that I have a save right before this room makes me go full Rambo Chapter 15: The Marker fight. Kinda weird, because I have mostly maxed out Contact Beam and even on Zealot it used to do wonders, but now I had to hit Nicole with the charged beam twice for her to disappear then hit the Marker 4 times. Probably another round of this would do the job, but I didn’t have enough Med Packs and got swarmed by the Pack. A couple of mistakes on my part like not buying more packs, not having reloaded weapons when going into the battle and so on. Chapter 14: Dumb death, tried to rush a zero gravity section, because I thought that the engines would be more lit before the fire is actually turned on. Nope, they won’t, they will just blink lightly. Well, that was 'fun'. Great game so I'm happy to have it completed on my list. During Hard Core pt I've learned to love Stasis + Ripper Blade.

CelestialRequiem
12/19/2022 - 12:10PM Sitrep: Chapter: 3 Saves Available: 3 Deaths: 0 __________________________________________________________________________ 12/19/2022 - 12:15PM Sitrep: Chapter: N/A Saves Available: 3 Deaths: 1 The child swarm at chapter 3 got me. I actually contemplated saving as early as that, due to me having to skip the really boring opening of the game. But knew even if I lost there, I wouldn't feel like it would be worth it. I'll try this again later -- need to work on a guide for a game be worth a save in the long run. Even though I died, I am glad I chose not to save, anyway. x410xDragon
The best save spots are: 5, 10, and 13 from my experience. It has been awhile since I got the platinum, but I do recall saving before the eye-poking machine as that seems to drive people crazy. As for weapons, I found the Force Gun and Plasma Cutter the most useful and sold anything that wasn't ammunition for either of those two weapons. The Javelin Gun is very good, but I did not use it during my Hardcore run. In regards to upgrade progression to your RIG: Health > Stasis > Air. You are given a lot of Air in comparison to the first game and if you know the proper path during the space sequences, then Air should not be an issue; however, I do recall putting at least 1 point into it, then the rest in Health and Stasis because...why not? Zealot on your first run must’ve been painful at times! I’m going to limit myself as much as possible on my Zealot run, only use the weapons I plan on using during my hardcore run. I also only realised just before I started back playing that I previously bought the Dead Space 2 super bundle, meaning I have all of the DLC weapons/suits at my disposal from the first in-game shop. The Force gun is a lifesaver from what I’ve read, so this should make my life a little bit easier! Popular Post BushidoCypher
Did it all in one session last night then I crashed hard lol, I died twice to some dumb things like chucking an exploder arm too close to other enemies and it doing so much damage my health bar took the day off. Then I retried and I actually missed the red switch on a decrompess window lmao so it killed me, the final boss my health kept dropping to literally nothing I spammed force gun then focused boss with plasma cutter, rinse and repeat and did it. I thankfully got eye part first try (And also managed that on my 1st playthrough on casual) but with the nerves up on Hardcore it was more anxiety inducing especially because I saved so early on due to worrying about dying too much and didn't trust my self. (Thankfully I did save because that's when I died moments after lol) Overall though was heaps of fun and I never played anything past Dead Space 1 so it's been nice finally checking them out.
GraniteSnake
Ready to give this mode a go tomorrow all going well. I feel like my Zealot run was a bit deceptive seeing as I had everything upgraded to the maximum, so I think it'll take a bit of practice to adapt to this mode. Will definitely have to approach some fights differently and take a more cautious approach, as well as make more use of stasis (I rarely used it in my playthrough's so far).
Buff_Cupcake
I'm going to start my plan to tackle Hardcore mode this weekend. I want to do it glitchless, with no DLC and no dupe exploits etc even though the temptation is strong. I'm also playing on a digital copy so I don't get that bonus save to play with when switching discs. Strategy I was thinking my strategy would be something like this which will mean i'm kinda working towards Zealot and Hardcore trophies simultaneously - i'm open to any feedback or thoughts on this for sure: Start a Zealot run Make a save after the opening cutscenes to I don't go mad repeating it in practice runs. Play through to Chapter 6 or 7 and make the first save point i'd be making for Hardcore Replay the run to Chapter 6 ot 7 as many times as I need to. Switch over to Hardcore and play up to the save point I practiced in Zealot difficulty. Once that is locked in, resume my Zealot playthrough and play up to Chapter 10 or 11, making the second save point i'd be making in hardcore Switch over to Hardcore and play up to the save point I practiced in Zealot difficulty. Keeping going with that until i've completed Hardcore, Weapon loadout I'm going to experiment a bit in Zealot with the weapons, but I went with Force Gun, Plasma Cutter & Pulse Rifle in my normal difficulty. I'm really curious to see how the Force Gun performs, because it has become one of my favourite weapons for most encounters bar some of the more precision related stuff. I noticed you got the 100%! Congrats, how did it go? Curious to see what your loadout was and save structure etc. The more examples I can get the better I can educate myself on my own attempts
