The Surge, an upcoming action-RPG from German developer Deck 13, revealed its first screenshot and an in-game render of the main character today. Concept and environmental artwork has also been released for the game.

The Surge is set in a not-too-distant dystopian future, where the life cycle of Earth is nearing its end. Humans have continued to advance their technology, but the planet has suffered for it and humanity's indulgent way of life is now collapsing. Take a look at the gallery below to get a better idea of it.

The game's protagonist is equipped with a modifiable exoskeleton that is upgraded using the remains of his enemies. The Surge's equipment system is built on dismemberment and using those enemy parts to enhance your armor, weapons and more.

The Surge is currently on track for release in 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Sounds like a gritty version of that 80s cartoon The Centurions. Little too soon to be excited from just some concept art and a screenshot, 2017 is a long way off.

I liked the Surge, it was a pretty good drink.  Shame they got rid of it

Vault was kind of an okay replacement I guess but it just wasn't the same

Heard about this a while back. Sounds pretty good... Will keep an eye on the game. Love the fact you upgrade your equipment by dismembering your enemies.
