Kill flying enemies with items?

Anyone have any suggestions as to how to kill flying enemies (ie bats and pixies) on the levels where there is a medal for only attacking with items?  I cannot seem to figure out how to kill them by throwing an item.

You can kill them with Monica's bomb form using the kamikaze technique, and it'll count for every dungeon aside from the sewers.

You can make the invention "Lightspeed" and it should work pretty well against flyers. Also, what I like to do is throw another enemy at the flying enemy to stun them. Not only does this make it easier to hit them, it also groups the enemies up so you can kill multiple enemies with the same item (Improved Bombs, which you can easily get from Erik, are a good choice early on due to the high damage and good blast radius)

There is also a Dark Cloud 2 Medal Guide put there by Darth Mom. A quick google search should find it. It gives detailed descriptions on what items should be used on the enemies on each level. Following that guide, the items only medals became almost a joke.

I would also like to add try group them up if you can and lead them to things like stairs so you are slightly above them.

Just learn their swoop timings and either use a poison apple or stone they're weak too. For example bats will do a single unique flap and then swoop. Throw the item as they swoop, taking a step back as you throw usually helps too.
