Trophy thoughts on Alienation.

Just watched the trailer for this. Pretty much looks like Dead Nation. Which begs the question: Why make this and not Dead Nation 2?

Completed that mission where you have to run to the helicopter and the mortars keep raining down on you last night. Damn it was so brutal on world level 2 veteran. But the experience it gave... Wow! Like one guy who got the MVP on my squad had 56.9 million. I got about 36 million.. And everyone else in the party was 26-27 million or more. That was one hell of a mission. Hate to see how bad that mission is in world 3 on veteran. I hate that even after getting to hero level 100 (which will take a shit ton of time investment, days and days, hours on top of hours) you still have to go back through and level both the other classes to 30 each. Don't forget level 30 hardcore. Which means you will have to beat the game about 4+ times easily. Adding in all the extra missions you will have to play, you will have to beat the game (my guess, level 100, and three other level 30's) probably around 7-8 times before staking the platinum. And it's much, much harder on veteran every new game+ you do (as mentioned before). The solo play trophies should definitely be avoided in any new game+ files. Altogether I would say, in my own respective estimate: you're looking at a 200+ hour platinum. Minimum 150 hours but.. Thats if you power level, which I'm unsure if a method is actually out there tht is effective. Anyways. I'm going for it.

Did you manage to get a 12-socket legendary from it? I'm wondering whether 12-socket legendaries can be acquired anywhere or only as a prize from finishing the Ark Ship. Seen up to an 11-socket in the normal game, but never 12.

I've got a 12 socket legendary flamethrower that I got from doing a random mission on Veteran. I also got an 11 from a UFO. Honestly the rewards from doing the Ark seem to be pretty bad, but you do get about 10 level 3-4 mods.

Yeah the rewards we got from doing the first four floors were horrible, not even a single legendary. At this point in the game anything that isn't legendary is just scrap. That's good to hear that you got one in a normal mission though, thanks for confirming.

Is the ark available right at the beginning? Like, as soon as I start new game ++ in world level 3, I can go into it? I'm sitting at a hero level 48 almost 49, and I've seen some massive levels in world level 2. Played with a group of 100+ yesterday. Host was 136, his buddies were 128 and 117.. They were sickening.. Some dudes from France iirc. They were literally clearing entire maps before jumping on the helicopters. I'm gonna stay in WL2 to help my little brother to get to WL3. But that's extremely useful advice for the future. Thank you.

On a side note, was also wondering if anyone had any general tips for certain trophies (especially solo ones). I was trying super hard at the "opposite of wasteful" (non-solo, no?) 90% accuracy trophy last night. I was steamed when I finished at 94% and 297 shots.. 3 fucking bullets away.. And another time I had 87% with like 790 shots fired.. Then again it was late as hell, I had been drinking last night, and I had to wake up in 4 hours for work.. So yeah.. Honest attempt as much as I could muster for it.

I'm 130 now, and done the Ark a few times, w00t top of the leaderboard, I'm not sure if it's open, or if there is even a world 3, I don't think there is. I have no option to do anything further, and ark only seems to become available after finishing world 2.

So do all the missions stay open and the areas stay unlocked? Or do you have to start from scratch again as you did after beating the game the first time? Good to know there isn't a world level 3 though.

What mission does one play to get the trophy without firing your weapon at all? I know there's a couple short ones, but for those with the trophy I would be very interested to know how they did it. Also, the quickest way to get the one where you only use guns and no skills, no rush, no melee- only guns.

The Ark Ship becomes available upon completing the Mothership on World Level 2. At this point it just stays WL2 with all levels unlocked.

 

Not liking this 12-socket legendary. Been playing for 5 hours and only gotten 2 legendaries in that time (incidentally, a minute apart) and they were 10 and 11 sockets. The best method for trying to get one it seems is using your UFO keys to start up the UFO, quickly sprint to the three chests, then quit after collecting the contents. Takes about 2 minutes, and between myself and my friend we have 40ish keys (therefore 120+ chests). Hopefully we get lucky. PS: It's also a great source of cores. Typically get 3-5 cores per chest.

Yea, I get way more legendaries from UFOs. At least 1 per run usually, plus the cores. I'm fresh out of UFO keys though, so need to run missions, I do have loads of Ark keys though, but seems like the rewards are pointless when you don't even get a legendary for completing the entire thing.

Definitely faster. In the 30 odd UFO runs we've done, I've gotten 15 legendaries. My friend also backed up his save file before starting to use his 29 keys, so if the back-up works like it does in Diablo, he'll be able to revert to that save after using all keys to have an infinite supply of keys. Literally all we need is a 12-socket legendary to be done with these characters, but the game refuses to let us have one.

 

EDIT: Okay, save back-up definitely works, so if you stock up on UFO keys, you can farm it until you get the 12-socket legendary. This back-up would also work for Hardcore if you're so inclined.

 

I'm also starting to question whether you even can get 12-sockets in the UFO. My friend and I have both gotten 30+ legendaries now from doing this, yet not one has been even 11-sockets, let alone 12. Beginning to wonder if the chance of 12-socket is simply higher on Veteran than in UFO, given everyone with the trophy so far got it before or just after hitting Hero Level 100.

How many legendaries did you get before you got it? My friend and I have exceeded 100 legendaries from doing UFO runs to no avail, and plenty during our Hero Levelling, no luck there either. It's driving me insane.

I'd say about 20-30, I have salvaged some so I can't count properly. For best loot possibilities try destroying 3 beacons per mission before you collect the reward to get a loot bonus at the end or try to get far in Ark Ship before you collect the loot.

To be honest I think it's pretty random, I saw one early on, but haven't seen another since, and gone through the ark about 4-5 times all the way, coupled with many UFO missions. I'd say just keep trying and eventually you'll see one.

Finally managed to get one, from a Reward Hog Lv 3 box in the first level of Barrow. I just quickly ran the level over and over getting Reward Hog Lv 3 and hitting the box, seems the best way to got about getting it. Not as many legendaries as UFO, but they were better quality ones.

Do you have any general tips for the solo trophies where you use only gun and the one where you can't use your gun at all? I'm assuming these are best done on world level 1.. Just wondering what stage worked best for you and what setup you had (i.e. Class, level you were, etc.).

On yet another side note...

Looked up some forums on this game regarding class and everyone hates on the tank. They s&h its a useless class and it's a pointless class.. And that it's the weakest of the three. But I personally love the tank. Sure, it's the only class I've played with so far. But the shield is beast and my primary DPS is over 1million. Yeah it has crap for range but it's rare of fire, clip size and just over ability to decimate any for makes up for that lack in range. Dunno why the tank is so despised.

For the not using your gun, and for the not using your abilities just run mission 1 on rookie, and be a high hero level. You basically take no damage from the enemies, and have a huge amount of health. Plus mission 1 is really quick and easy.

I wonder if you can do the no gun trophy in Hawaii.. I think there's a mission even quicker and easier than the first mission in barrow.. Like one of the last ones in the states.. Can't remember what it was called. But it's like one of the final three..

Tank is my second favourite class, using it for Hardcore. I used Bio-Specialist for my main playthrough which I loved, the Heal and Wraiths are amazing. The Tank's Shield and Tesla Charge are great too. I found the Saboteur wasn't a very defensive character, particularly for co-op, as his Invisibility only affects himself as opposed to the whole team like Heal and Shield. Only downfall to Tank is short range of primaries, which I counteract by using Revolver/Power Shot as my secondary.

After eventful and the 12 slot weapon trophy, I'm officially done with this massive first playthrough and I can start a new character.

I did it on Veteran, yes. Took a few hours to get one. Annoyingly enough, as soon as I got my 12-socket, I got another 12-socket from my next legendary when I was power levelling my friend >.< I think the best combination for Hardcore is a Tank and Bio-Specialist. Healing and Shield are amazing.

 

As for Eventful, have you been playing co-op? You need to complete 100 events as the host, so if you've been doing events in other people's lobbies, they won't count.

No luck. Tried at it for five hours today. Got an 11 slot (including the bonus effect) like 3 times, a few 10 slots and a lot of 9 slots.. But no 12 slots.. I was at it for a good five or more hours straight.. The battle for Ashland was where I was finding quality legendary items.. The first couple missions I couldn't find shit.. No legendary.. Oh I found one after 6 tries in the first mission in barrow and it was a grenade.. Starting to really doubt in this trophy. Guess I'm about to wait for a patch and hope they increase the drop rate. While I'm waiting, might as well try the other classes out and beat that game with them.. This trophy is such a buzzkill.. Really makes me wanna stop playing the game..

Btw I did get eventful and it was because of the whole host thing. Thanks for clearing that up.

I ended up getting 3 12-sockets, with my third one being when I was level 29 on Hardcore. If you're having no luck, maybe do your Hardcore character first and hope you get one during that, as Hardcore has higher drop rate.
