Popular Post Asuka Langley
Join the Party! Password is NicoNicoNii Music is an essential element to any gaming session, it's one of the things that makes sure that we don't fall asleep in front of our consoles when we're playing through long boring segments of games we though were cool at first, but turned out crappy, it can make our bad-ass moments in game even more bad-ass and even effect the way that we play. We have access to various apps that give us a loose way of seeing what people are listening to and allow us to listen to what they're listening to at the same time, but very few apps actually allow us to listen to music as a communion, allowing people to queue up their own tracks for us to listen to or skip out on. One of these applications we knew as Plug.dj, somewhere you could choose your own avatar and watch them do their own dance based on the type of music you enjoy listening to with their own style as well. All of this including a live queue of music chosen by other people who had their avatars jamming out on your screen. Unfortunately Plug.dj ran out of funding quite a few months ago - almost a year now - and there's been a lack of replacements that've been actually worth using. Plug.dj in action. Recently, me and one of my chat buddies have come across an alternative to Plug.dj which actually feels a hell of a lot better than Plug.dj did; Dubtrack.fm What is Dubtrack.fm? Don't let the name fool you, it's not completely full of people playing dubstep and no it's not your favorite actor dubbing your favorite anime, it's a much cleaner version of Plug.dj which does the same thing, just without the risk of constantly crashing your flash player. Of course, the first thing that we decided to do was structure a PSNP room so that we wouldn't lose the name to someone who could've made their room using a mix of letters or someone who posts once then leaves. As you can probably see, the most visible difference is that Dubtrack.fm hasn't got the legion of avatars dancing across the screen, as well as the one behind the DJ decks. Instead of this you're given the ability to choose your own avatar, even if it's a gif, and it'll pop up in the bottom left hand of the screen next to your track along with your name when you're playing. Additionally you have a more visible option to hide the video while you listen to your track, which is always helpful if you just want to listen to music and chat without the risk of someone playing a strobe filled video on your screen. Using the Dubtrack.fm Interface While the Dubtrack.fm interface isn't that different to the plug.dj interface, there's always time to quickly run through the different areas of the interface, to make sure you're ready when you join to instantly get your groove on, without feeling awkward about crashing the party by asking questions on how to use basic features. The Chatbox The Chatbox The chatbox is located on the right side of the page, you're able to discuss whatever you wish to - within reason - and share links heading to news or your gameplay footage, with the added ability to check who's online and adjust other personal chat settings. In the above image we see two of our members - the room creator DanNinetyNine (Chemergy) and a member of the site who joined yesterday through our statuses - Dellrium666d - regarding our discovery of the site discussing Shadow Warrior 2. The best joke since the last one you heard Clicking on where "Join the conversation" used to be on the chatbox actually allows you to join the conversation - who knew it was a text box the whole time?! Press enter and you can send the message you typed out... except if I did that in the demonstration it'd take me all the way to the current chat where I'm asking for my mod position back - I did make this tutorial mainly from the view of a normal guest after all. Next to the input box, you'll find a camera which will open a pop-up menu for you which'll allow you to take a gif selfie using your webcam or internal camera if this actually works on a phone. Current Superstar DJ, Here we go! Moving along from the chatbox, if we click on the two people at the top of the box, we open up the active users tab. The first thing you'll probably notice - unless you're disappointed by my NicoNicoMeme - is the blue text next to the usernames, this text is here to tell you the current status of the active members. Current DJ for those who're playing, Creator for the creator - of course - and Moderator for moderators, any other statuses we're yet to uncover as we've only just began using this application. Because who doesn't have preferences? Moving along another tab, we reach the chat settings. Here you're able to decide what messages you want to hear notifications for - all, only those that give you an @ mention or none at all - as well as whether or not you want to see those goofy gif selfies people can send and whether or not you just want to clear your whole current history and forget about it all. The Video Player Cutie pies, fall from the skies. The video player is the essential component of the application, without it the room would be silent and boring. Of course, using the volume control you can make it boring and silent, but hey it's your call. As you can see below the video you have the Facebook and Twitter share buttons, the previously mentioned volume control, and three other buttons. Let's start with the Refresh button which is in the middle of the three, this allows you to refresh a video that gets stuck buffering or refresh a video that could possibly be broken, to the right of it is the HD control, though you only need to use this if you're playing actual music videos and not using the next button which is to the left of the refresh button, I call this the dark button and it basically blacks out the video, so instead of cutie pies falling from the skies you see this: No more cutie pies falling from the skies Dark mode is usually good if you want to focus on the background of the room, however it can be used in several different ways, the most useful being to stop your flash player from again, going boom. The Toolbar I swear, that avatar goes with everything The toolbar is one of the quicker and easier things to explain. Covering the majority of the left hand side of the toolbar is the current song, With the current DJs profile picture, with their name and what they're playing to the right of it as well as to the right of the toolbar - before the list icon - an ETA to the end of the song. To the right of the toolbar however, we have icons with completely different uses. The list icon opens up the different queue lists and your playlists - however we'll get onto those shortly - while the Heart and two arrows signify "Grabs" "Wubs" and "Boos" in that specific order. Pressing the "Grab" button enables you to add the current song to a playlist of your own, whilst also instantly adding a "Wub" to the song. Wubbing is a measurement of how many people enjoy your current song, while in contrast booing is a measurement of how many people don't. How to Queue up Music on Dubtrack.fm As you can probably see in the first Dubtrack.fm image above, you can click to "Queue a Song". Clicking on this button will bring up the following menu from below (you can also open this by clicking on the list icon on the bottom toolbar) Before we go into queuing up songs, it's useful to know how exactly this menu works, so you can queue efficiently and not screw up your play order. My Queue The most important function of this menu, is definitely the Search bar, which allows you to find music for your queues and playlists. You also have the option to choose between Soundcloud and Youtube when searching for music, so make use of this when you need to. As you can see the first four options are based on what you've currently decided to play and what others are going to play, the current queue open is "My Queue", the list of songs that I'm going to play in the future, however this counts not only for what I'm going to play in this room but also across all rooms after I leave this one. Hitting clear allows you to completely clear your list to recreate it from the ground up and pause stops your queue from progressing, if you want to play one last track. Room History The "Room History" allows us to see tracks previously played - if you missed grabbing one that you wanted to grab earlier or if there was one that you found offensive enough to report to the room moderators but couldn't remember the exact name, or even if you just wanted to see what you missed out on if everyone's talking about a specific track. Room Queue The "Room Queue" works a little more differently, and works hand in hand with the "Wait List". The "Room Queue" tab is where you'll be able to see what's coming up next and who's coming up next, however there is a small glitch with the Queue where if you join a Queue where there's only one DJ, that DJ will be able to play their current song and their next one before you get to play yours as they'd be 1/1 on the queue when you join - this is yet to be fixed but should be fixed in the not so distant future. We believe that when the "Room Queue" overflows, the overflow is sent to the Wait List however this is currently speculation and is yet to be seen and tested... Then again with the feature to lock the Room Queue to the current players, there is also the view that those who try to queue in this period are instead put onto the wait list. Top Notch Jams? Below all the lists you'll find your playlists, as well as two other buttons you might make good use of. First, the most obvious button "Create Playlist" will allow you to make a new Playlist, whereas above it you'll find the "Import Playlist" button which you'll be able to use to bring your playlists over from Soundcloud and Youtube to use in the future. Above these two buttons you'll find my current two playlists "New shit" and "Jams?" The numbers next to these signify the amount of songs on the playlists, which appear to be slightly glitched as I have one song on "New Shit". Above the songs on my "Jams?" Playlist, you'll find a button which'll allow me to add them all to my queue and others that'll allow me to modify the playlist in terms of name and deletion. This remix is absolute fire, Trust me. Upon finding a track you wish to play, and hovering your mouse over it, you can do several things with it. This is a track that I've taken from my "Jams?" playlist, so you'll be able to see the full extent of options available for you to use. The Play button will add the chosen track to your current queue, please keep in mind that you are NOT able to drag and drop tracks to the lists you want them to go onto. The Heart icon works the same as it does on the toolbar, allowing you to add a track to a playlist of your choosing. The double up arrow allows you to place the selected song as the top of your playlist, this is also available in "My Queue" to put a song to the top of your queue. !!TUTORIAL ENDS HERE!! Without further adieu, I present to you the PSNP Dubtrack.fm room: Join the Party! (banner in progress) Password is NicoNicoNii We don't have a specific set of rules laid out yet, though you should still follow those of the forums and we're welcoming all types of music however, we are mainly an electronic music room and mostly play that. CrumpetOfDojima
Now this, is what I call a great idea. I often find myself browsing the "What are you listening to?" thread to have some good filler music for when I game and etc. Edited May 2, 2016 by Najinceil

Asuka Langley
UPDATE: Hey guys, Asuka here. The room has been renamed to "Inside the TV" - A Persona reference, of course In light of this name change I've found out that Kevinnummer1 had created a PSNP room at the time we assume was immediate from our renaming. As much as we'd like to congratulate his sudden spurt of work for the site - although it not being to do with guides, we'd also like to warn users that even though both rooms play the same genre of music, the bookmarked one for most of our current users and the one linked above will be the "Inside the TV" room and we don't expect that to change anytime soon which means the main flow of PSNP traffic should be coming through "Inside the TV" and not the room created by Kev. Additionally, I'd like to announce that I'm considering talking to Chemergy about creating gaming based events to promote the Dubtrack room, allowing members to choose music for our "IRL Anime Girls" streams when they return and play with/against others in tournaments whilst picking out tunes that they feel can improve their gameplay whilst leaving other members in disarray based on tastes. Whilst this is just a simple idea, we'll probably spend alot of time figuring out how to make it all work and help the community come together for some fun. The next couple weeks also spell out the beginning of end of semester exams for many of the younger members here, whether they be sitting SATS - which means they really shouldn't be here - GCSE's, IGSCE Honeybees, A Levels or the final exams for their chosen uni courses which means a lot of you are going to need to unwind, especially with the summer sun coming around to burn all our consoles to death. I'd like to say good luck to all you exam takers and please god almighty don't burn out your consoles. With the end of that, I'll leave space for Chemergy to write something. Asuka, Signing out.
