Make it official, Sly. Rule No. 10: No boosting in the forums, use the Gaming Sessions.

There was ambiguity about it years ago, but now it's firmly established and accepted. Let's help these new people out who come to the site, actually read the Forum Rules and don't see anything about boosting and then start a thread about requesting a boost.

Make it official!

                             10. Don't request to boost games in the Forums. Use the Gaming Sessions.

If you break rules 1-9 you can get a warning point or get banned from the forums

does that seem appropriate for posting a boosting thread?

In the spirit of hashing out the hypothetical, not just being argumentative and stubborn, I would think that if a member posted a dozen boosting threads, even after they had some locked and told to use the Gaming Sessions, they would start earning warning points. So yes, it *could* be appropriate. Just as if someone posts an image as a response, it's not always an automatic warning point.

It is good for making it official, but new members come everyday and won't see it. It is a little useless for pointing this one out. A lot of Threads that are boosting related will just get locked. This is just pointless  :(

Lol it would be pretty much useless as the kind of people who post boosting threads in the forums definitely wouldn't read the forum rules first (they can't even find the gaming sessions tab clear as day at the top of the website!).

Agreed. Most people who break the rule are newcomers. Giving them warning points off the bat seems wrongheaded for a site that ostensibly wishes to welcome newcomers.

The members have spoken.

ALL rule infractions should ALWAYS incur warning points. Posting only an image as a response. Posting off-topic. Not talking properly. Giving others grief. One/Two word responses (see post #14) directly above this one. ALWAYS give them warning points.

We can't have no boosting in the forums be a rule because it was ALSO ALWAYS need to have warning points for new members.

Also, as has been stated above (by people claiming to want to welcome new members) ALL new members who post a boosting thread are morons. Said by you guys, not me.

We are NOT going to warn new members for making boosting threads. We will continue to direct them to the proper area for boosting.

And why make it an official rule, you say for new members, yet there are OLD members breaking the rules, so does it make a difference?

If it's a rule then it needs to be listed in the rules. Some people do read the rules when they join. Maybe include a link to the what to do topic with the rule?

I don't know about issuing warning points for it though but I could see it if it's a long time member who knows better and does it anyways, as has happened before.

Daiv, I always took you for a tit but this takes it a bit too far. All rule infractions don't always incur warning points for several reasons, all of which are situational to the time of decision making. If we were to give warning points to those who don't speak properly half the active Neptunia fanbase would probably be gone and the forum games would be pretty quiet. One/Two word responses have been given by moderators before and in some threads, it's all the words people need to voice their on topic opinion.

We can have no boosting in the forums become a rule but y'know, if you wanna do that and have the warning point upon infraction rule in, then something has to be done about these because whether Sly decided for official threads to be created or not, they're beginning to confuse a lot of members, creating the illusion that boosting threads are allowed:

http://psnprofiles.com/forums/topic/19275-minecraft-ps4-official-boosting-thread/#entry402070

In all fairness though, It's the moderation team's fault for not getting their shit together and making it clear that boosting threads aren't allowed. I suggest something be implemented in the next site update before this suggestion gets reposted in a couple of months

P.S. That's an infraction for calling people morons, whether you're the messenger or not it's abuse ; ^)
