Attack choices ramped up recently?

Anyone else running into a problem where the attack choices difficulty has ramped up recently by a large amount. I'm at around the 1600 rank range and prior to upgrading to renaissance age I was able to find attack choices about 50% of the time that were the age below me thus give a 95% chance at winning. Now the day after I upgrade I seem to almost always only be given current age or above opponents with 200-300 trophies lower than me with defenses almost maxed out for the current age thus making 3 stars all but impossible since I just started the age.

 

Just wondering if the change is due to upgrading my keep or something else because I've hovered around the 1600 trophies range for the last week while I upgrading my buildings so I figured I'd be fighting the same level of opponents based upon trophies but it doesn't seem that way. Maybe I'm just unlucky now with my timing in that all the weaker towns are all locked out due to peace treaties.

Idk people manage to get that high in trophies. I am lingering between 1250-1300. Winning only nets me 5-7 while losing takes away 35+.
