Secret Garden / Decaying Labyrinth Guide

In Wild ARMs 3, healing items and the like are scarce and can only be found in treasure chest or drops from enemies. However, did you know you can also garden Berries to make your time in Filgaia easier? There's a trophy associated with this errand as well! Before you can garden, we need to take care of few things first.

Fairly early into the game, you will be able to meet up with a girl named Florina at this place called The Secret Garden. It is located at (X: 17695 Y: 8239), just in the Midland area where Baskar Colony and Jolly Roger is. You'll be able to complete this after Claiborne / Serpent's Coils. Call your horses near the Midland Station and ride for the east to find gorge separating you from a field of green. Jump it, and make your way for the forest. Talk to Florina and make your way for the other side of the field and scan for the Decaying Labyrinth (It's really easy to find, don't worry. Also, don't forget to get the Duplicator in a barrel on your way out of the garden.)

Once there, the dungeon is really straightforward, make sure to fight every enemy you see here to keep your ETC gauge high (granted if you got plenty of Migrant Seals before coming in here). The Boss is Ring Keeper with HP about 4300. You can demolish it easy with light Arcana. Now here's the catch, once you open the chest, your maximum HP will drop to 1 for the remainder of your time here in the dungeon. This is why you had to keep your ETC gauge high. Skip as much battle as you can here. The dungeon will vary slightly, but make a mad dash for the exit as soon as you can. Cutscenes will play, and you'll be granted access to the Secret Garden!

As for the garden itself, let me take a moment to explain the mechanics a bit.

You are able to garden these 8 items: Heal Berry, Potion Berry, Mega Berry, Revive Fruit, Holy Root, Tiny Flower, Mini Carrot, and the Full Carrot. Obviously, you need the have these items to start farming for said item.

Now, you're given three commands in the gardening menu: Sow, Breeding, and Harvest. Before you can be able to garden, a sample of the item must be used. Don't worry, you can always get it back thru gardening. Once the sample is created, you can now Sow a item. How to make it grow for Harvest is through the game's Counter Points, a value the game stores up as you play. You'll also earn a Trophy for growing a item once!

Counter Points are given to you as you play the game for doing certain tasks. 1 CP for one in-game minute, 1 CP for talking with NPCs, 5 CP for engaging in battle, 20 CP for resting at a inn.

Each item has it's own set of CP required to make one full item to harvest. Below is a chart for the requried CP for each item.

Heal Berry: 25 Points Tiny Flower: 25 Points Revive Fruit: 25 Points Potion Berry: 50 Points Holy Root: 50 Points Mini Carrot: 50 Points Full Carrot: 100 Points Mega Berry:

100 Points

Still with me? Each item start with a initial starting ratio, basically a percentage for a chance to grow a item once said CP has been accumulated. Below details the starting ratio for each item.

Heal Berry: 70%         Revive Fruit: 60%

Potion Berry: 50%         Holy Root: 40%

Mega Berry: 30%       Mini Carrot: 20%

Full Carrot: 10%         Tiny Flower: 5%

Now, this may be tedious task, but it's always a labor of love. The easiest way to get maximize a item's breeding percentage is by going to Gallows' House in Baskar's and resting 7-15 times or more there in a row to accumulate enough CP to grow a item. Some might are slower then others.

To check the percentage of item to see how far it is from being maximized, talk with Florina and breed one item. As you breed, read the message Florina gives you for the percentage. Below are all the possible message Florina can give you, detailing the percentage stored on a single item.

"The chances of this seedling surviving are next to nothing. But please do not give up hope on the flower's will to live." 0 - 9%

"It is very difficult to raise a flower in Filgaia's current state. Let us pray for a miracle..." 10 - 19%

"Water, soil, and a warm heart are what makes a flower grow. Please look on with kindness." 20 - 29%

"If you listen closely, you can hear the flower thumping. But it is a small, fragile pulse... Someone needs to carefully watch over it." 30 - 39%

"The flower is trying its best to live. Your kind heart and support will help it grow strong." 40 - 49%

"A young, vibrant power can be felt from the seedling. The power is still small, but it is definitely there." 50 - 59%

"Flowers are actually tough and strong. Just one look at this sapling here and you'll see how strong it is." 60 - 69%

"Someday Filgaia will be green again. Every time I see a young seedling, I feel it will happen." 70 - 79%

"Strong roots are a wonderful thing. This seedling taught me that." 80 - 89%

"What a fabulous seedling. It will take root and grow tall towards the sky." 90 - 99%

"This seedling should grow strong. No, not should... It will definitely grow strong." 100%

Special thanks to the guys at rpgclassics.com for putting the charts up online! Tell me what you guys think, sorry if this guide a bit rough around the edge... this is pretty much my first, haha..
