Popular Post Kaleniya
It's actually a 4-in-1 list, since i don't like keeping many different threads. I'm not a perfectionist, but i don't like unorganized things either, so i'll keep track of everything in here. Updates will be in separate posts, so i can really see my progress (or not). Playstation 4 - Persona 5 Royal Platinum Trophies Thoughts and scores are my personal opinion. Since opinions can vary, don't bash me, if you don't agree. Playstation 3 Okami HD Difficulty 3/10 Spoiler This is such a great game and i enjoyed every minute of it, even the minigames. The controls are also better than in the Wii version especially the brush. Battles are really fun and trolling foes with the brush even more. I really love games with japanese setting, so that was another plus for me together with the art style. The only thing that drove me crazy after a while was the mumbling from the cast instead of voice acting. Tales of Xillia Difficulty 4/10 Spoiler I loved the story and characters (minus Elize) and the combat felt smooth, so combos came easy. Many ppl seem to dislike Jude, but i could relate to his character a lot. Milla was the exact opposite, but i think that was mainly for her HORRIBLE english voice actress. I would have loved more skits though. I did the Milla playthrough as boss rush and finished the whole main story in five hours. Devil arms are OP. *nods* Tales of Xillia 2 Difficulty 5/10 Spoiler The debt system was... dumb and even though i thought that i wouldn't like Ludger, he really grew on me. I loved the character chapters and the three weapon style combat from Ludger. And like in the first game, the humor was just great. Those advanced titles gave me a headache though. I figured all out by myself, except one or two i think. My fingers hurt just thinking about it. Tales of Zestiria Difficulty 4/10 Spoiler My second time to platinum this game. The first one was on steam. All together four playthroughs, so that says alot about how much i love this game. I really liked the equipment system and freedom with distributing stats and skills. It's a bit confusing at first, but if you stop and think a few minutes, it's really great. The characters and story are also really well done, with a bit of minus on some background stories. The wonky battle camera sometimes wasn't really a problem for myself, even on chaos difficulty. It's great to have a game, where you actually have to think for yourself to piece everything together, since it isn't served on a silver platter. (keyword: timeline discrepancy - clarification, if needed, via PM to avoid spoilers) Also the music is just great. Especially the Go Shiina outdid himself, but Motoi Sakuraba did a great job this time too, contrary to the forgettable Xillia pieces. Playstation Vita Persona 4 Golden Difficulty 6/10 Spoiler Usually i hate time management games, but P4 pulled me in instantly. The thing is that i can't say why exactly, even to this day. It's just a fantastic game. And don't make the same mistake as me to forget visiting Nanako... TWICE and not saving on a separate file. DRAMAtical Murder re:code Difficulty 1/10 Spoiler BL VN with a great story, that doesn't shy away to put the finger on problems of modern society. Also Mink's route got toned down a lot, which is good. Sword Art Online - Hollow Fragment Difficulty 7/10 Spoiler I really enjoyed the game even though it took me almost two years to get platinum. The skill and weapon system were great and left so much room to experiment and try your own setups. That forced dating setup on the other hand was horrible. I have nothing against dating sim elements, but not so poorly implemented please. I'm used to grinding from older MMORPGs, so the really grindy gamplay wasn't a problem for me, but some ppl might be put off by that. Amnesia: Memories Difficulty 1/10 Spoiler I saw the anime a few years back and found it interesting enough to get the game on a sale. I'm glad i got it in a sale and not for the full price. The writing was really boring in my opinion and when it was convenient, rules they established got flipped over or bent like they didn't even exist i the first place, which made the whole visual novel seem more like a bad written fanfiction. The soundtrack wasn't anything interesting either, only the art stood out to me as really beautiful. Wouldn't recommend to anyone getting into visual novels. Steins;Gate Difficulty 1/10 Spoiler The saw the anime before the visual novel, due to it not being out in english at the time and declared that a masterpiece already. Now i have to revise that and declare the visual novel the true masterpiece. Mamoru Miyano does an incredible job as Okabe Rintarou, which really brings the powerful story to life. If you plan to play this after watching the anime, it is really interesting to watch/read them in parallel. Plus, some things just left standing there in the anime (okabe's dreams for example), make much more sense in the visual novel afterwards. Steins;Gate 0 Difficulty 1/10 Spoiler I had high expectations for the sequel and while it's a good story, it's not as great as the previous installment and the ending was kind of lackluster. They could also have done a lot more with Amadeus, which was just a plot device in the end and nothing more. I also missed the branching system from S;G. A convoluted story like this doesn't benefit from a normal route system at all. When you consider googling for a diagramm on what takes place when and under what circumstances just to understand if things are related or part of another main branch, that's not a good sign. Playstation 4 Persona 5 Difficulty 4/10 Spoiler I bought the game with my PS4 Pro at full price and do not regret it one bit. I absolutely loved P4G already, but P5 i just amazing on a whole other level. I really loved the story, the whole quirky Phantom Thief team and the pacing too. I know some say that you kind of feel lost after the palaces at the end, but that wasn't the case for me in the slightest, cause of how the story takes you for a ride. The gameplay was fantastic and made me love every second of every single fight, which is rare for me personally. And then there is the AWESOME OST and the most stylish game UI I've ever had the pleasure to witness. All in all P5 is real masterpiece. Tales of Berseria Difficulty 5/10 Spoiler I'm a huge fan of Zestiria and its lore, so Berseria was a given for me and I wasn't disappointed. It fills a lot of plotholes for Zestiria and explains many things, but also causes some confusion (Pendragon/Loegres palace and church trading locations all of a sudden? Malak/Seraphim able to generate Malevolence themselves or not now?). The story and characters are great and the maps aren't as empty as in Zestiria, though that's mostly due to filling them up with a bit more details and collectables. Gameplay was great (Nagareboshi!), but really, really easily exploitable like Velvet's or Magilou's Break Soul and the trophy grind (A solid B trophy) a pain in the ass. I liked grinding the Xillia 2 trophies a lot more, though that's probably an unpopular opinion. Sword Art Online: Lost Song Difficulty 2/10 Spoiler SAO: Lost Song is... mediocre in every aspect. I loved the gameplay of Hollow Fragment so I gave Lost Song a try, but it felt really stripped down compared to HF. The depth HF had with it's nearly endless skills and implement perks is switched for a "learn-by-use" skillsystem, which is also very limited. The flying aspect is fun at first, but the controls make you want to throw your controller at a wall sometimes. You could have gotten away with calling the game just simple, if it wasn't for the difficulty. Postgame i stumbled into the extra dungeon with... 380-something and just though I'll keep going until the bosses get too high in level. I stumbled into the Level 1000 endboss of the dungeon more by accident than on purpose and still beat it + got the best 1H-Sword in the game at the same time. It's just ridiculously easy and boring after the first wow over the flying aspect. .hack//G.U. Last Recode Difficulty 3/10 Spoiler This was an awesome ride and I wish it would have lasted another hundred hours. Haseo's character development is one of the best I've seen since years and the weapon switching system reminded me a lot of Ludger from Xillia 2, whose gameplay I loved. The story was so great, that i proceeded to research the lore of the .hack universe to get the whole picture and not missing out on even the slightest references. This is by no means necessary as the game has something called Terminal Discs, which explain the necessary bits of the lore from previous games and anime, but if someone likes a well established world, I highly recommend it. The first volume is... lacking and i mean REALLY lacking in the gameplay department, which is logical for anyone who has ever played an MMO and knows about the progression curve of those, but it can put people off quickly, if they don't have patience. Volume two is where the gameplay gets really fun and volume three expands on that. I have to admit that I didn't play around much with the new gameplay of volume four, but from what i saw while going through the story... it's a flashy looking downgrade in gameplay, compared to the other volumes. But volume four is only a few hours long to begin with and more of an epilogue. The only other real gripe i had with the game was the difficulty. For one there was this weird scaling system in place, which had you dealing really low dmg if you were lower than your enemy, and basically facerolling them, if you were even one or two level higher. That made grinding obsolete and if you did, you were basically "rewarded" with going through the story one- or two-shotting everything. Then you had the avatar battles, which were my least favorite part of gameplay. You repeat the same 2-3 motions again and again, firing down a shield, then firing at the actual HP bar for a while, only to repeat the shield part again. It didn't feel as epic as the avatars seemed at all. Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age Difficulty 2/10 Spoiler I was never more positively shocked as in this game when after the end... it wasn't the end - twice. I loved the story, progression and sheer amount of things to do and am excited for the next installment in the main franchise already, whatever it may be. It took me a while to get the plat for the game as I took a break and was just like: "uh... what did i want to do with everything in the game again?", so I played through it a second time before going for the plat - no regrets there. If I have one gripe with the game it's the music score. Dragon Quest is all about it's fanfare-like and upbeat OST, but... a bit more variety would have been great. I found myself just muting my tv at some point and putting on other music instead, which usually never happens. That is a common minus point with the game from what I read. What isn't a minus point for once (for me) is the english synchro. Whoever directed that is awesome. Spirit of the North Difficulty 1/10 Spoiler It is a really short game, but oh my god was it enjoyable and relaxing. The gameplay is very simple, but following the whole tale, which unfolds without a single line of text, was just amazing. The atmosphere and soundtrack above all. I want to say I didn't cry, but I did. It was my first game of this kind, but I don't regret buying it and am looking forward to play more of those kinds of games. Spirit of the North is often said to be riddled with bugs and I was a bit wary of that, but I only found one, after I tried to jump along some stone formations in the very beginning and got myself stuck in a way i had to reload. Other than that nothing. Nexomon Extinction Difficulty 2/10 Spoiler Nexomon Extinction was an impulse buy and while I do not regret buying this indie game at all, it has room for improvement. Contrary to Pokemon it actually has a decent story, doesn't take itself too seriously (LOTS of 4th wall breaking) and is sarcastic so often, that you wonder how they came up with all those dialogues. It was fun to play through and while characterization was lacking or jumpy at times, it was decent enough. The art and animation is great, as is the variety of assets. It has a wooping 381 Nexomon, which would be fun and all... if they actually were different aside from the look. The attacks (those that matter, cause buffs and debuffs don't) are sadly not very varying in their effects and while the speed of those attacks matters at the start, you quickly start to look only at which ATK number is higher and toss the rest without a second thought. One of the biggest points differentiating the game from Pokemon is the use of a scaling system. Wild Nexomon, Trainers and also Story fights will level as you level and while it isn't to an unfair degree, it can make things quite challenging, which i personally would have liked a lot, were it not for the difficulty coming from raw numbers. The game practically forces you to carry a huge stocks of potions with you and heal your Nexomon every 1-2 fights, which gets VERY annoying VERY fast. Battles are often won through you throwing a potion while being low, attacking once or twice and having to throw another potion - rinse repeat. Were it not for those points, the game would have been even more amazing than it already is. I also like the banner and headers a lot, it's Sorey from Tales of Zestiria right? Yay, always nice to meet more RPG fans, Glad that you like them. It took me a while, since my photoshop skills aren't what they used to be. Yeah it's Sorey, though fused with the Seraph of the corresponding element. He's kind of a favorite of mine, haha. Those Photoshop skills tho, the max I can do is writing my name with a shadow effect . Nice list! Yeah i saw the notice about ps plus, but i never bought it before and probably won't for some time. I have almost no games, that have or require multiplayer and even less ppl to play them regularly with. Most of the games are on sale sooner or later, so i'll grab them then, but thanks for bringing it up! Not as amazing as you think, but thank you. It's mostly adding simple layer and blending effects.

Xillia
I love the layout of your list! Maybe you should think about adding some of your thoughts about the games before the list grows too long. Do you have any plans on maybe platting Zestiria on PS as well? Or have you had enough of it?

Maybe you should think about adding some of your thoughts about the games before the list grows too long. Do you have any plans on maybe platting Zestiria on PS as well? Or have you had enough of it? That's a good idea actually. Will add this. I never have enough of Zestiria, haha. I just started a completely new game a few weeks ago and mained Mikleo in that playthrough, which ended up maining both him and Edna. (it feels like 3/4 of the enemies in the game are water resistant... ) I'm thinking about getting it for the PS3, but only if it's on sale.

I'm glad I'm not alone. Oh man hahaha, I know this! When I was playing co-op Zestiria with two other friends, one of them chose Mikleo as his main until he got fed up with all the Water resistant monsters. Meanwhile, the other friend started off as Lailah and everything was either weak or neutral to fire. So we deemed Lailah OP and only brought out her meteor shower when times were dire. If you're thinking about getting a PS4, you could wait until then to get it off a sale. Though apparently there's not much difference between the versions, but still.

Believe me, my FFXIV guild knows about Zestiria and the nerds, even if they never touched a Tales of game in their lives. Lailah is definitely OP if played right, but most (including me) don't like her sloooooooooooow and small combat motions. You always have the feeling, you're not even scratching the enemy, even if you clearly are. On the other hand, it IS paper... And it's best not to mention the fire kamui in terms of being OP. I think the only differences are the rendering distance (you can't see mobs far away from you most of the time and i think that could get a bit annoying with windwalk + lord of the land speed buff lol) and texture resolution. The game itself should be exactly the same. I'll just wait if the PS4 or a sale for the PS3 version comes first.

Kaleniya
Fixed the trophy images, that got screwed up by the update. I was thinking "oh you better don't forget to do that", when i looked around the site after the update, but then RL happened. I also have to give up on my goal to finish at least one more Tales of game, by the time Berseria rolls around. I don't wanna start a new one, when i don't have the plat for Symphonia yet and i doubt i'll get to finish it sometime soon. (Also VNs are evil and winter + PS Vita while lying in bed is just to tempting)
