Popular Post AlteredFormula
OK guys, Its the latest interview. You're in for a great one... . This time around its with Parker, and most of the community questions got thrown in for good measure. A massive thanks to Parker for his time on the interview, Connie, prepare to be blown away by the answer to yours! Finally, all responses are unedited unless I've noticed a word has been missed and thrown it in. I dont want peoples responses to come across as though I've written them. 1.) ScreechingOwl in particular would like to know a bit more about the farm. The farm is nothing really special, just an old family farm. It's right at 1,500 acres (we've sold a lot of land the past 10 or so years) and we have about 100 head of cattle, 20 horses, some sheep, goats, chickens and other animals. We have fields that we mainly use for hay but we rent some land to other local farmers so they can plant other crops. I end up working the fields for them though, but I enjoy the work so it's not a big deal. One of my favorite things on the farm is our garden. It's over 10 acres and we grow every fruit and vegetable imagineable, and fresh fruit is miles better than anything you can buy at the store. Combine that with our apple trees, peach trees, pear trees and others, you can have a damn fine meal without ever having to go back to the house. We also have 4 pretty big ponds, stocked with plenty of fish of course, so after a long day I can grab a pole, a few cold beers and have myself a nice evening. 2.) I’d like to know that as some who plays a real instrument, what your thoughts are on a lot of the music rhythm games like guitar hero / rockband and so on? I'm a fan of the music games, not because it teaches anyone how to play an actual instrument, but because it can potentially turn people on the music they never knew they'd enjoy. Anything that can get more people interested in music is a good thing, even if it is just listening to it, but inspiring people to take up guitar, bass, drums or singing is even better. 3.) In the great Gota’s own words, we would like to “get personal and shit” and ask what are your favourite movies and albums? Let's start with albums. As most can already guess by my PSN name, I'm a massive Led Zeppelin fan. They've been my all time favorite band since before I could even walk and as cheesey as it sounds, their music has helped me through a lot of tough times in my life. When I like an artists I generally enjoy all their music, so instead of listing particular albums I'm going to list some of my favorite musicians. 1. Led Zeppelin - No explanation nessecary. 2. Rory Gallagher - Not many people know who this is, and that's a shame. He is certainly one of the best blues rock musicians from the 60's and 70's and I actually named my Son after him. My wife wasn't having any Zeppelin references (I tried naming him James Patrick or Robert Anthony...) but since I'm Irish (not born there) she went along with Rory. 3. Django Reinhardt - Easily one of the best guitarists of all time and I love his music. I don't imagine many people my age will like him but any music fan should appreciate him. 4. Cream - Eric Clapton at his best, along with the fantastic Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker. All great musicians coming together to create a fantastic, although short lived, band. 5. The Allman Brothers Band - When they were truly the Allman brothers (before Duane died) they were utterly fantastic. Nice mix of blues and southern rock. 6. The Yardbirds - Launched the careers of 3 of the best known guitarists of all time. Clapton, Beck and Page, so how could they not be good? 7. Robert Johnson - Blues Legend 8. Howlin' Wolf 9. Muddy Waters 10. Bling Boy Fuller I could list hundreds of others (mostly blues and jazz artists) but I'll leave it at ten to keep it simple. As far as movies... 1. Smokey and the Bandit - I have extremely fond memories of this movie. I used to watch it as a child all the time (probably one of the reasons I love old Kenworth semi trucks so much) and it is still one of my all time favorite movies. My wife hates it... 2. Clint Eastwood - Anything with this man in it is gold. From his Westerns (all fantastic) to modern movies like Gran Torino, I have yet to see a movie from him I haven't liked. 3. Westerns in general - I've always been a big fan of westerns and I enjoy most of the ones I see. 4. James Bond - I love all the James Bond films, but I'm especially fond of the Sean Connery era. I'm not a huge movie guy so I really can't think of much more at the moment. I enjoy a lot of movies, but apparently I can remember enough to make a list... Judging by a lot of the questions we’ve received you’re a bit of what I would call a petrol head, so in that vein: 4.) Hocus Pocus wants to know what vehicles you own. Which is your favourite, and which is most used? By vehicles I'm going to assume you want me to leave tractors and semi's out of it. Currently, I own two vehicles. The very first vehicle I ever bought (when I was 15) is still the one I own and drive today. It is a 1991 Dodge Ram D350, 5.9l Cummins Turbo Diesel, dual rear wheels, 5 speed transmission. Right now it has a little over 300K miles and runs like a top. I've never been stranded anywhere and everything I've replaced has been wear items like a water pump, alternator and starter. Those three things are the only things I ever had to fix on my truck. Pretty damn good if you ask me. My other vehicle is actually my Wife's. It is a 2002 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport. Nice little hatchback with some get up and go, but it is also very comfortable and has plenty of room. 5.) Broy asks, if money wasn’t a factor what would your dream vehicle be? Ferrari F40 or Lamborghini Countach is what I want to say. But I have a few others I'd like to mention. I'd love to have a 2013 Dodge Ram 3500 with the Cummins of course but I'd also love a older Crew Cab Dodge with a Cummins swapped in as they weren't available from the factory. To drive every day, I'd take the trucks over the Ferrari or Lambo any day of the week. 6.) Dead or alive, who is your favourite driver and why? Aryton Senna and Michael Shumacher are the first ones to come to mind when I think of great drivers. Both of them are fantastic drivers and really seemed to push what their cars were capable of. 7.) If you could drive any circuit/track from a racing game (real or not) in real life what would it be? Hands down, Nurburgring Nordschleife in Germany. 2nd place would either be Bathurst or Spa. Right so lets move on to the gaming side of things and get to know what you enjoy gamingwise: 8.) Oscar/Dark_Knight/Dark_Knight_Risen/new name next week would like to know what your favourite game of all time on any system is? (AF thinks he might know this one!) Gran Turismo, any of them. If I had to coose between them I'd say Gran Turismo 5 is my favorite simply because the driving physics are the best in the series, and in my opinion, the best on any console right now. And in a driving game that is the most important feature for me. (AF was right!) I'd also like to mention the Harvest Moon series as one of my alltime favorites as well. 9.) Orenji asks,How old were you when you started gaming and what is your fondest gaming memory? I've been gaming since before I can remember. My fondest memories are of my brothers and I sitting on our living room floor playing the hell out of our Sega Genesis. I still have that system complete with the 32X and Sega CD attachments and it's one of my favorite systems of all time. 10.) Gamerm would like to know what systems you’ve owned over the years, have you held on to all of your systems or do you move on with each generation? I still have and play each system I'm about to list... Vectrex, Atari 2600, 5200, 7800, NES, SNES, Intellivision, ColecoVision, Sega Genesis, 32X, Sega CD, N64, Magnavox Odyssey, Commodore 64, TurboGrafx-CD, Neo-Geo, Neo-Geo CD, Atari Jaguar, Panasonic 3DO, Sega Dreamcast, Sony PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Gamecube, Wii, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I know I have a few more but I can't think of them right now. For handhelds... Microvision, Game Boy, Atari Lynx, TurboExpress, Game Gear, Watara Supervision, Sega Nomad, Neo Geo Pocket, Neo Geo Pocket Color, Game Boy Pocket, Game Boy Pocket Light, Game Boy Color, Bandai WonderSwan, WonderSwan Color, Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Advance SP, Game Boy Micro, Nintendo DS, DS Lite, 3DS, and Sony PSP. I actually own more than that now as that list was made earlier in the year, but I have just about every system that has ever been released in America. All work perfectly and like I said, still get played. So no, I don't move on with each generation, I keep all my systems because you never know when you're going to get an urge to play some Toejam & Earl or Battletoads. My wife isn't as happy with my collection as I am. 11.) Rory has 101 questions on Gran Turismo, He’s curious to know which of the five was your favourite? Was there any feature dropped or added as the series progressed that you wouldnt have chosen? What would you add to GT6 to improve it you were the brains behind the next title? Of the 5, number 5 is my favorite because as I said previously physics are the most important thing to me in a racing game, and in my opinion GT5 is the best of the best on consoles. A feature that I wouldn't have added is the leveling system. I liked the old system of the liscense tests and I think adding levels to cars and events just makes things more frustrating. Especially when it takes so long to get to level 40. I'm also disappointed in the number of great original tracks that were dropped throughtout the series. Red Rock Valley and Grindlewald are some of my favorites and I can only play them in GT2. We're also missing El Capitan in GT5 as well as quite a few other great classics. If I could make GT6 it would be a little something like this... You start your career as a Kart racer and the only events available to you are Karting events. As you advance and get better you can race in different series such as Rally, NASCAR, BTCC, F1 and everything in between. I would try and make it as realistic as possible in terms of the way you progress. I would also revamp the physics system to have to most realistic one yet and create a better damage model as well. I would add an option for people who really want a simulation to turn real time damage on, so if you hit a wall at 200mph, you're race is over. I would also like to add a livery editor because a large portion of the GT community wants one, and even though I personally leave all my cars stock in appearance (even in Forza) I recognise that people would enjoy it. Car sounds would also get a massive improvement and we would re-record every car in the game. I would address the Japanese biased car list as well and add many of the great European sports cars as well as more American Muscle. Online would be improved too. Bringing back to home momentarily, 12.) Hocus Pocus notes that you recently spoke about your wife helping out on Gran Turismo 5, is she new to gaming, how did you introduce her, and what games does she play? She isn't really big on gaming but she does ocasionally partake. She like Dynasty Warriors more than anything else, but since I have a cockpit for my racing games (with a wheel, shifter and pedal set with a clutch) she does want to try that out sometimes. She sometimes does endurance races with me, but I have to build a huge lead before letting her drive. Now I’d normally bring it to a close about now, but there were two fun questions and I’m not even sure if one of them is just trolling by our dear connie but here we go. 13.) Sir Bee wants to know what super power you would pick if you could pick any, and why? Flying. I just think it would be extremely fun to be able to fly and I would enjoy it more than any other super power. 14.)This is the Connie question… Tell us all about you fascination with Britney spears? (Get ready to be amazed!) Well this is kind of a long story. Britney and I go a long way back and before she was famous I was actually her neighbor. Even at an early age I though she was beautiful but she always had an attitude and her mother wasn't to fond of me because I was a farmer. Needless to say I didn't really see much of her, but luckily enough our bedroom windows were positioned in such a way that I could peer into hers without her really seeing me. Now before you sick bastards get the wrong idea, I never watched her undress as I don't feel right about invading someones privacy that much, but wathing her dance and sing at an early age was something to behold. We never really spoke to one another because I was always to busy with farm chores to socialze with anyone outside my family, but I'm not ashamed to admit I did fantasise a relationship with her. Nothing sexual as I was way too young for that, but I felt a strange connection to her and when I watched her sing and dance through her window I always imagined she was singing for me. Fast forward a few years. I'm driving the tractor to another field a few miles away and who do I see broken down on the side of the road? Her mother's car had a flat tire and they had no idea how to fix it. I pull the tractor to the side of the road and offer a helping hand to which they initially refuse, which I can only assume was because they didn't want to be seen by their snooty friends on a tractor. When I explained she only needed a tire change and she had a spare she rolled her eyes and acted like it was a privelage to changer her tire fer her. A few minutes later she was good to go and as an act of good faith, her mother invited me to dinner at their house. She knew I couldn't drive (legally) so I'm assuming she didn't think I'd show but the law doesn't say anything about how old you have to be to drive a tractor so I showed up to their mansion on a 1955 John Deere 4020. Needless to say her mother was not impressed, but Britney did seem to find the whole thing humorous and we actually hadn't had a full conversation until that night. Dinner wasn't anything to write home about but that isn't why I went to their house anyway. I wanted to get to know Britney better, and I wanted her to finally be able to actually sing to me like I had fantasised about for so many years. My wishes were about to come true. Luckily Britney's mother was a raging alcoholic and after downing a whole bottle of wine at dinner, she was passed out in no time. That gave us the alone time I desparately wanted but I can't say Britney was as happy as I was. We did talk for a few hours and she was a lot more comfortable around me, even asked if she could ride on my tractor (to which I still regret not taking her.) One thing led to another and she actually kissed me. Not a steamy, romantic, lets take our clothes off and make it kind of kiss, but more of a "I can see myself with you" kind of kiss. I was stunned, never in a million years did I think the girl I had been watching through windows would actually kiss me, and better yet she was the one who made the first move. As we were laying together, I heard her sing for the first time. I couldn't tell you the name of the song but it is to this day the most beautiful thing I've heard in my life. Her voice was so effortless and feminine, holding her while she sang is still the highlight of my life. We saw eachother for a few months after that and we were both really happy during that time. I never saw her as much as I would have liked and out of the blue her mother decided to move. Before she left we embraced for a final time and I can still smell her, feel her and hear her. I can still see her face as she got into the car and drove away, sticking her head out the window to see me for the last time. It was that moment when my obsession started. This was long before Facebook or Myspace, so we really had no way to communicate with each other except through actual mail. Two weeks went by before I received her first letter but it seemed like years. I thought of her everyday, couldn't sleep because I was thinking of her, and when I finally passed out from exhaustion, she was in my dreams. Her letter spoke of a new school, new house, new car and new life. As happy as I was to hear from her, I couldn't help but be upset by the fact she didn't even mention the times we had together or a longing to see me again. When I replied to her I wrote out all my feelings, how I had longed for her for years and how much I would love to see her. I wrote my phone number and told her I'd love to actually be able to speak to her, love to hear her beautiful singing. It was another week before I heard from her again. I was out in the pasture tending to the horses when my mother called me in, saying I had a phone call. This was unusual because like I said before, I never really had any friends because I was always on the farm. When I answered and I heard that voice I actually became weak at the knee. Unfortunately, it wasn't the conversation I wanted to have. Britney said it was too hard to live this far apart and even though she had feeling for me, her mother advised her to forget me and move on. At my request she sang to me one last time and said something I'll never forget. She said "I love you Parker, and I always will." I heard her voice tremble and before I could say anything, she hung up. It was at that moment I began to suspect her mother of trying to sabotage us. Could she have left so suddenly because she saw how we were together anddidn't want her precious daughter to be "stuck" with a lowly farm boy. Some say that was the day when I went crazy... Years went by and I still thought about her everyday. I still heard her saying she loved me, at night I could hear her whispering in my ear. It was the hardest time of my life and I genuinely thought I'd never see her again. How wrong I was. As I came in for dinner the next day, I overheard the television saying something about a new, young talented singer. I knew they were talking about her, something in my bones told me so. I walked over to the television and stared in awe. There she was, grown up, gorgeous and taking to the stage. Before she started she said she wanted to dedicate this to "the boy in Kentucky who always believed in me. The boy who put up with me, and the boy I love." I cried like a fucking baby right there in the living room in front of my whole family. No one knew how much she meant to me and it was then that I realized that I had to get out of Kentucky and see her, no matter what it took. I packed my bag that night and left without telling a soul. It's about 30 miles from our farm to the nearest main road, so I had a hike ahead of me before I could catch some traffic to hitchhike. After hours of walking I finally came upon some traffic, and as luck would have it most of them were truckers. It must have been fate that made the first trucker stop. He told me he never picks anyone up but he sensed something in me and asked where I was headed. "California" I told him, exactly where he was hauling his load. Luck was on my side for the first time in years. We made it to California on a few days and I thanked the man and went on my way. It took me another month to find where she was. Yet again I was watching her through her window and thought of all the wonderful times we had. I was overcome with emotion and yet again, cried on the spot. She was the only woman I've ever met who could evoke so much emotion in me. Fearful of what she might say to me for leaving Kentucky and hitchhiking all the way to California just to see her, I simply watched her for the next few months. I got a job as a farmhand to provide for myself and I was saving up to buy a ring for her. I would go days without eating just so I could afford one faster. It took me a year and 4 months to be able to afford a ring good enough for her, and every single night I would go to her house and watch her. Some nights it seemed like she knew I was there and we would lock eyes, if only for a moment, but I could never say for sure. I rented a tux from a local place went to her house with the ring. I waited until her mother left and rang the bell. She answered in an old ratty shirt and some jeans but she had never looked more beautiful. Her hair smelled of strawberries, her face had no make-up on it, she was wearing a gentle perfume. When she saw me she cried and said she had hoped for this day for years. She had never even seen another man in hopes that one day we would be together again. I didn't say anything to her at first. I just looked at her, took everything in and dropped to one knee. I told her I thought about her every single day since the day she left, I told her I could hear her in my thoughts, see her in my dreams, and she was the only girl in the world that I wanted to be with. I pulled the ring out and asked her to marry me. She burst into tears and screamed "yes!" I had never been happier in my life and neither had she. She pulled me inside and kissed me passionately. We went to her room and she ripped my clothes off, kissing every part of my bruised and beaten body. She took her clothes off and got in bed, and I think you know what happened from there. Then disaster struck, her mother had come home early and heard us. She barged in Britney's room and was furious when she saw me there. She screamed of her being to good for a poor fucker like me and told me to leave. Britney said if I left, she'd go with me. Again, her mother stopped her and said something that changed both out lives forever. You see, I was a year older than Britney and while in Kentucky she was of age, in California the age on consent is higher so technically she couldn't consent to having sex and her mother was going to charge me with statutory rape. Devastated, we agreed to leave one another until she was old enough. A month later I received a call I never thought I would get, her period was late and she was pregnant. Her mother was furious, as was Britney although she realized she was at fault just as much as I was, and I was once again threatened. I was told I would never see Britney again and I would never see or mention our child. If I tried contacting either one of them I would be thrown in prison and branded a sex offender. After talking with Britney one last time, she agreed with her mother and though that was the best course of action for her to take. I went back to Kentucky a broken man. Not only would I never see the love of my life again, I would never get to see my child either. I haven't spoken to Britney since then, nor my daughter but I have heard rumors. It seems Britney gave birth to a baby girl and they hid the child and pregnancy from everyone. One of the nanny's has recently gotten in touch with me and told me who my child is. It turns out, Britney and I are the parent's of the artist you all know as Lady GaGa... I've got to admit, up until that 4th paragraph, I was sucked in... I was honestly thinking "Dont post it AF, sell it to a newspaper!" So if that isnt enough, you've now got either a good starting point to get to know Parker, or a bloody good reason to avoid him based on his Britney delusions! Thanks to Parker for letting us probe his grey matter, and thanks to all of you for contributing to the questions.
Popular Post Parker
First off, thanks for the opportunity to be interviewed. I really appreciate that. Secondly, my apologies for the story for Conn's question. I will admit I have had a little to drink tonight and I wrote it all in one sitting without proof readin, or re-reading. About halfway though I just wanted to get it over with so the quality may have decresed a little. Anyways, for those who are interested I have a few pictures of some vehicles I'd like to share. First off is my truck: And one on the farm... My wife's Scooby And a few other fun vehicles the family has had over the years... My brothers 1997 Dodge Ram 2500. Cummins Turbo DIesel, 5 spd, this one was over 716rwhp and 2,000ft/lb of torque... broy300
You had me hooked Parker, I think you should start your new career writing dime store paperbacks with Fabio on the cover. Great Interview, I don't see anyone topping that one! Love your ideas on GT6. and yes they definitely have to bring those tracks back. Excellent choices in music. You have to have a separate pole barn just for all the damn systems you have!

Popular Post Gotakibono
First of all, kudos to Mr.Formula for creating a winning "formula" for fantastic interviews. Get it? Okay, seriously good job guys. Now onto a story that had me completely enthralled, bemused and slightly excitable from start to finish. Parker, that was not only legendary, it was exceptional; in fact there isn't a word powerful enough to describe its brilliance in the English lexicon, so I'll just call the story completely 'Parker.' Also, man, I wanna go fishing and have a few beers in your little piece of paradise: I know where I'm going when the zombies come.
