Popular Post whoadreader
So having recently completed Valhalla Mode I thought I'd share some tips and advice on how to fight the bosses without taking damage or using god powers. Normally I'd of attempted a guide but I don't really have enough information to fill one. If you're struggling on any of the normal mode trophies then I'd recommend looking at Shilag's videos on youtube since they seem to use mostly the same techniques as me. Jera The main change between Valhalla mode and normal is that poison mushrooms appear by the three weakpoints she has preventing you from standing there for too long. Jera is probably the easiest of the valhalla bosses but needs a bit of luck for the no damage part. I'd stay on the left of Jera and only cross over to the middle the first time the flower is exposed. Once you've done a few hits return to the left and never head towards the middle again as it's really easy to get trapped. At the start of the match wait till she does her 5 ground pounds and on the fourth run up and hit her with two heavy attacks before running away. If she uses the flower attack then stop attacking and run away. Once she starts summoning vines I'd take it as a priority to clear those before attacking again. When attacking at this point it's much safer to attack with one heavy attack rather than two. She seems to only attack if you get near her though so it's worth walking near her to bait the ground slam attack, dodging it and then clearing the rest of the vines. At some point she summons a lot of vines all at once, and tends to keep doing it unless you attack her. On the no damage run I'd definitely use a shield to clear them and then use Odin's spears to knock her out of the cycle of summoning them. Otherwise just clear the ones in the way of the blue flower and carry on attacking. If you stand directly below her arm and use a heavy attack you can hit both her arm and her root which saves a lot of time. Fe The main difference with Fe is the sheer amount of dwarves she summons and she uses the roar attack a lot more than she used to. Still one of the easier jotun's but much harder than before. No Damage: for the no damage run I'd recommend starting off with freya+thor powers (and loki's if there's dwarves about) and knock her health down as much as you can. Once you're out of freya+thor you can use the spears to do a bit more damage. Hopefully she's summoned towers at this point, if not don't worry. From now on just stay on the very outskirts of the arena and head towards the towers. Break them if you get an opportunity since it'll do a bit of extra damage. At this point it's too dangerous to attack her directly so you need to bounce back her shield. Try to get a clear area and wait for the shield throw to bounce back. The no powers run is a little easier and employs the same technique but obviously the start will be a bit slower since you can't use powers. I backed off a bit earlier, and waited for shield throws, since you don't have the aoe from thor or the distraction of loki so it's much more risky to be stuck in the middle Isa Isa is generally the same as before except when he does his slam attack it leaves a ring of icicles infront of him. The technique I used for both runs was to stay just behind him and roll through his legs. If you roll through his legs when he does a slam attack then you get a free opportunity to heavy attack him. If he does his running move then just chase him and hope you can dodge the breath attack (then you can usually get two slam attacks on his forward leg). My biggest problem in the early phases was moving out the way if he fell down, sometimes you just can't get out the way in time due to icicles but there's no way to really stop that. Once he starts the storm the fight becomes a lot harder, the slippy floor makes dodging much harder but the same technique should still work just focus on positioning between his legs earlier than you were before. When he's on low health he'll start to do multiple charges in a row, they're pretty easy to dodge if you can tell when he's about to do them. Just keep trying to get between his legs and you should be fine. For the no damage run I'd use both Loki's at the start for a bit of damage, then wait till you've hit him a bit normally then unload with freya+thor. Once he starts running back and forth I'd use your spears and you should be pretty much done by that point. Kaunen I'm covering Kaunen next since although he seems intimidating he's much, much easier than Hagalaz and Odin. His attacks hit hard, turns aggressive much quicker, the explosions drop quicker and the fire cracks flash up much quicker. I had a pretty easy time with this fight so I never came up with a proper strategy but looking at Shilag's video since his no damage run is very similar to the technique I used for this boss. Generally it will come down to luck as to whether you can dodge the fiery floor or not. The main piece of advise I can give for this fight is post his purple glow phase change thing, when he jumps back and makes a ring of cracks on the floor you should run away from him. This should make him do his jump attack more often and his sword attack less often which is what you want. Odin Odin's up next since he's nothing compared to Hagalaz. The no damage run is much easier than the no power run since you can very quickly take most of his health bar away. The key differences between this and normal is that he always fires three spears, starts summoning jotuns quicker and will summons more of them earlier on in the fight. A useful tip is to pause when the Jotun's are summoned so you can quickly see who you're dealing with without wasting time. No damage: I'd play the fight without powers until he starts to summon the first Jotun. If it's an easy to dodge one like Fe, Isa, Kaunen or a badly placed Jera then you're set. Dodge the Jotun then chase him so he throws spears, if you had to dodge Jera or Hagalaz then I'd wait til the second set of spears he throws. Activate Thor+Freya heavy hit him once, and then drop a Loki. Carry on heavy hitting him until he moves or you have to dodge something. Now just repeat this technique with a second Loki+Thor+Freya combo. He should be pretty low now so carry on till you get an opportunity to Thor+Freya and use your shields if you need safety from a spear or two. Now comes the tricky part. Using this method he always summoned four Jotuns around this part and I was without Loki's or shields. Try to get to safety while throwing your spears at him. if you're lucky this might finish him off, if not he should have a sliver of heatlh and you'll just have to try and get one more hit in somewhere. I've got a recording of my no power Odin run at the bottom of the post so hopefully this will show you the sort of techniques I used for this (my start was played pretty badly though). A lot of luck is involved in the Jotuns that are summoned and an awkwardly placed Kaunen, Jera or even Isa could ruin a run instantly. Hagalaz Finally we get to Hagalaz who is by far the hardest fight in the game. Instead of four towers there is now a tower on all 8 of the outside spots, she splits into two much earlier and then splits into 3 near the end. When there's two or more try to make sure you know what they're all doing. If you get a safe moment you can pause and check their actions. If one is floating in a directions it will almost definitely try to beam you when you draw level with it. Occasionally you can use this to get it to beam towers or other Hagalaz. No Powers: Hagalaz is one of the few where no powers is easier than no damage. The first phase is pretty standard so I won't go into too much detail. When she split into two you have a couple of options. If most of the towers are lit or they're both standing near lit towers then it's probably worth lighting the rest to knock them down. If one of them is near an unlit tower try to bait the other into beaming you so you can run to the first Hagalaz and hit her a bit. If you're lucky you can try to get one to beam the other, however unless the knocked down one is in the middle you probably won't be able to hit them much and instead knocking them down gives you a a safety net since you're just dealing with one. I would definitely recommend trying to end stage 2 with most of the pillars lit. Once there's three of them things get very tough. You're in a race against time since it's extremely hard to avoid damage at this point. Hopefully one of them will beam another however I could never reliably set this up. Your best bet is to try and get all the towers lit really quickly, do two standard hits and a heavy hit on one and then rush to do a heavy hit on another if possible. If you can pull that off they'll have very little health and with most the towers down you might get a chance to finish them off quickly. If not just run in a big circle on the outside, do your best to dodge the attacks and pray you can get all the towers lit again. No Damage: This is by far the hardest part of the game. A single spark could ruin the run. I started by charging a heavy attack and waiting till you could see a health bar. Then roll once towards her, activate Thor then Freya and keep heavy attacking (She should start charging a beam). If done right she'll swap to phase two straight away, and if you activated Freya second and still have it up then you should of got one extra hit in while she was disappearing, making stage two a bit easier. Quickly work out where the two appear and start running towards one that is far away from the lit tower (If they're both near it then just pick one and hope for the best). When you're on the bridge between the square you've come from and then square with Hagalaz on activate Loki then Thor then Freya (if you're too close to the tower on the square with Haglaz then Thor will activate it, which is very bad). They should both start dropping lightning (hitting the Loki) which will give you the opportunity to keep heavy attacking the Hagalaz. It will probably teleport at some point now and if the other is level with you it usually tries to beam you so be wary of that. Now there shouldn't be too much health left of this stage but there's no defined strategy at this point. I'd try to avoid relying on the tower stun since you really need that for stage 3. If you're lucky and Hagalaz has teleported to an unlit tower, or even better the middle, run over and hope she charges a beam. This should give you the chance to get a couple more heavy hits in and move it to stage 3. If she moved to a lit tower then you'll just have to wing it really. You can probably use a shield up but I'd save the remaining Shield, Thor, Freya and Loki for stage 3. If possible try to make the remaining unlit towers in a row or even better, just leave one unlit. Stage 3 is a nightmare. I'd pause to work out where they've teleported in and which towers need lighting. You almost have to get the tower stun to win this stage so you need to do everything possible to light the remaining ones. If the only ones left are in a row with a Haglaz nearby you should run there while throwing your spears and hope she beams the row. If you've got one tower left you're probably best running to it while throwing spears and using Thor to activate it if needed. If all three start dropping lightning or you have a long way to travel then use a Loki.Whatever the case once the towers are lit and they get stunned you should run to the nearest one, activate shields to block the sparks they drop, activate Freya (and Thor, outside of blast range, if you still have it) and two two light attacks and a heavy attack. Quickly run to the next and hope you get time for a heavy attack. If the first one starts dropping lightning you probably won't get time for a heavy attack and should just do a few light attacks. If you're near one when they all get up it should teleport and if it teleports to the middle then I'd suggest chasing it there. If you still have a Loki then use it when they drop lightning and just keep hitting the one you're near and hope you can take it down in time. Hopefully my advice has been useful, I wrote down everything I could think that would be helpful, I'm just gutted I didn't think to record my other fights. If you have any other questions about the game or the fights then I'll give my best attempt at answering them.

You can just retry, it doesn't matter how many attempts you take and you can fight the first 5 bosses in any order that you want. You can mix it up too so I worked on a boss at a time, did no god powers then no damage then moved to the next boss.
WorldOfSheeps
Thanks for your advise! The tip for Hagalaz (light up all pillars) made the no power challenge a lot easier for me, i thought the knock down was random haha. With that advice my tactic was just to run clockwise and keep rolling. The only thing you have to dodge that way are the sparks and the beams, what made it pretty easy. For some reason i had the most trouble with Fe (both), one of the reasons was probably that i didn't know that you could hold down triangle (I just thought you had to time it really really good). Kaunen and Halagaz where the easiest for me and completed both of them in a couple runs. 50% of these fights are probably based on luck tho. Overall fun game and good luck to anyone who is gonna plat this game .
Stardroid
I have a question. The completionist trophy. Is it given to you for finding all shires and collecting all apples? Or is there something more to it?

So when your in the main area you can see little symbols on the map, they all need to be visited to get 100%.

VegaMan-X4
Hey, guys. I've made a video for Perfect Valhalla trophy. Give it a go if you feel like it - might get you an idea on how to deal with some jotun or two. Played the hell out of Share Factory application to make it happen, so any comments or even advices are highly appreciated. Thanks! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3phOZ_hRTU Edited March 11, 2017 by VegaMan-X4 No idea how to insert a video directly to my post, sorry... starcrunch061
Necropost. This is good stuff here. I would only mention that for Shun the Gods - Jera (Valhalla), I think it's much easier simply to stay in the middle, near the flower, so you can charge attack her middle ground pound. You might make a couple of trips to the main body, but for the most part, you just sit back, and slowly whittle her down, killing vines and knocking back the lone branch to your right when necessary. VERY slow, but quite safe.
starcrunch061
So apparently, in my own personal Bizarro world, the ONLY special condition I've managed on Valhalla mode is...no damage Hagalaz. I haven't even been able to BEAT Odin, but it all came together when I fought Hagalaz.
S_y_n_e_IR_g_Y
For Valhalla Mode: I have to defeat the bosses in a row without getting a hit or can I do it all alone an die between the fights?

The worst were Fe no damage (I mean, really devs? I couldnt even see those stupid flying hammers coming at me...) and Odin no powers. The game is good and fun to play but man oh man, you better pray those RNGods for mercy.

Inuty
Finished this Weekend the no damage on Vahalla mode .. That was insane and sometimes really frustrating but rewarding after you finished it Had a lot of Trouble with Fe and Halagaz. Odin was the easiest one for me. Tried some runs without god powers and this is even more frustrating for me then no damage I guess I Need a break first until I will get into this again but all in all a really good game and no one should hesitate to Play it because of the trophies.
Danny_Johansen
Found an exploit on Fé Valhalla mode, not sure if it works on her normal version but you can get her stuck on the throne. She will only spawn 1 wave of enemies and that is with the 6 pillars. Set up is easy, just stand on the spot in the video, kill some adds and attack away with your god powers.
Mori
Do I get the Shun the Gods and no hit trophies also in Valhalla mode? Would spare me some time on normal mode.

Yes, you can get all boss related trophies in a Valhalla mode; no need to attempt them on your normal playthrough if you are going for the plat.
NaseemJohn
Good luck to anyone that attempts this plat. I've done a decent amount of challenging games over the last couple of years but this one was an absolute nightmare due to the rng.
Mori
I didnt get the Shun the gods trophy on Fe in Valhalla mode. Did it in story Mode now. Am I right that the "fist" symbol represents the usage of God powers? I also watched a replay; I didnt use any powers. Edit: Got the plat. I had to do all God related trophies (no damage and no God powers) in normal mode. Edited February 17, 2019 by Mori
