Popular Post antithesis
Ok, I got my PSVR all hooked up and I can categorically & absolutely recommend that you DO NOT BUY this piece of sh!t. It's fucking awful. Remember when you were a kid and you sat WAAAYYY too close to the old CRT screen and you could see the pixels clear as day while everything else was washed out and muddy. That's PSVR. Everything looks blurry and smudged and I need to pull the screen right up to the point where they're colliding with my glasses. I don't think wearing glasses is the problem, it'll look like shit for everyone - the resolution may be 1080p, but it looks upscaled from 480p. The nose flaps are bloody annoying too and the headband is a sweat magnet. Regular games and movies look like crap. VR's a slight improvement because you need to look around to see the otherwise equally blurry and smudged crap on-screen. I'm taking these back. Day one buy. Day one return. If anyone's pre-ordered, cancel before you waste your money! Edited October 13, 2016 by ant1th3s1s

Popular Post AuzzieWingman
Really? I've been enjoying them for a few hours now. I'd say the worse part has been setting it up.
Popular Post Undead Wolf
Maybe you should of done a little research before buying it? It was well known the resolution wasn't great. I mean PSVR is the budget headset after all, so you can't expect top quality.

The Vive and Oculus are both a bit more powerful but they all run lower resolutions. Might be a good call for him though since Sony is working on the next iteration of PSVR. If anyone went into this new piece of hardware thinking it would be perfect they are delusional. Eh, I guess I can't blame 'em though. The hype is real with these things.

damon8r351
Best $400 bucks I never spent. Speaking of sitting too close to the CRT, I'm waiting to hear about the bitchin' eye strain headaches that'll no doubt ensue from having a screen that close to your face for too long. Knowing hardware developers, I'm sure quite a bit of research went into this particular area.

Popular Post AffectatiousDonk
That's unfortunate for you, still I am sure your review will be popular here. Must be a personal thing because in the 2hrs I have spent on it so far I have had my mind blown. Totally fantastic, and to be honest a lot better than I expected
Galactic Hyper Balls
Thought you would of went with the PC Vr headset. I know in 2 years I'll be picking one up since consoles are limited for space This is why I want to buy one.

Popular Post Dr_Mayus
Kind of what I have been saying. I mean who wants to spend 400$ playing mediocre games with a screen attached to your face. I mean the initial "neat" factor will go away pretty quickly just like Motion controls and 3d did as well. Gimmicks will never replace good storytelling and solid gameplay
Popular Post antithesis
Maybe you should of done a little research before buying it? It was well known the resolution wasn't great. I mean PSVR is the budget headset after all, so you can't expect top quality. I did as much due diligence as you can on an unreleased product. 1080p sounds good on paper, but I strongly believe it's upscaled from 720p or lower. It's god-awful - take the headset off and look at a regular screen in cinema...smudged, blurred and upscaled is the only way to put it. Top-quality wasn't on the radar. Mediocre quality was the expectation. Poor quality and just plain BAD sum these things up. It doesn't matter if PSVR is the shallow end of the VR pool, it's still expensive for what you get. I was well aware of that going in and bit the bullet so the good folks of PNP Profiles and another couple of communities I frequent didn't have to waste the money themselves. This is particularly critical given Sony's taking a hard-arse approach to returns on PSVR (it needs to be in the same condition as received, i.e a fresh unboxing) or you're outta luck. I had to do some sweet-talking to get EB Games to take it back based on wearing glasses (which is supposed to be a non-issue), but I can assure you, even with perfect 20/20 vision, it'll look like crap. Trust me folks, this is not even remotely worth the money. PSVR will be dead within a year, just as 3D and Move before it. Sony is going to have big problems with this product, expect a shit-tonne of returns. Microsoft dodged a bullet on VR, PS4 Slim and Pro are PR disasters (no 4K Blu-ray...really?) and it sets the Scorpio up really well leading into the second-half of this gen. Sony needs to get their ship in order, things are going bad fast. Edited October 13, 2016 by ant1th3s1s
Popular Post Caesar Clown
VR is a something new in gaming. People should wait a few years for a VR headset with better hardware. VR headsets started to pop up in the mid-1990s, and I'm not talking about the Virtual Boy. This is just another generation of gamers being exposed to something old that's received newer technology to make it better.

Gimmicks will never replace good storytelling and solid gameplay Doc, it's not neat, even the XMB looks bloody awful. Text is all smudged and blurry, regardless of vision quality. I can see text bleed and screen-rounding...it's not even close to usable. I was hoping I could relax back in my seat to play non-VR games and movies in cinema mode, but it was seriously like looking at a mid-80s TV. I would actually like to know this. PSVR Room thingy, Resident Evil VR thingy, a movie and Garden Warfare 2, just to test. Unbearable and thoroughly disappointing are the only words that come to mind.

The funny thing is there is only a handful of us that actually know what a mid-80s TV looks like So it doesn't even have the Wii Sports "this is fun" factor for the 10-20 minutes until it becomes boring? I mean I trust your opinion (you are up there with Gauss as one of the more trust worthy posters) but that distresses me even more so. I mean I was never expecting this thing to be worth 400$ but that sucks if it doesn't even last the honeymoon stage

Apple_Stems
I have one too and here's my take on it: The resolution is definitely low, the text on some apps are unreadable unless you manually move your head towards it. That's not the biggest problem though, from what I've personally gathered, if you leave it on for too long the head tracking gets messed up and can potentially cause motion sickness. You're forced to restart your headset at that point. Overall though, I can say it's a neat device, but there's not too many great games so far (with plats at least ) I like it but wouldn't shell out $500 for it Edit: also there are games that inherently cause motion sickness. I felt really queasy playing the Scavenger game on PSVR Worlds and ESPECIALLY Drive Club VR. Battlezone and Thumper were somewhat bad too. B1rvine
Hmm, two bad reviews. I remember what a mid 80's TV looks like, so I'll hold off getting this. Hopefully some stores will demo it before Christmas, so I experience it before deciding.
