Maahniac
Hey!I have a question regarding the PS4 controllers. It seems our PSN accounts are somehow paired or stored with our PS4 controllers. Today I returned my PS4 controller to the store I bought it from (The R2-button was broken), and I received a new one. Now... I'm very big on trophy completion ratings and so on in games. Is it possible for people, should they pick up my "broken" controller and play with it, to install trophy sets to my user account? And earn trophies with that PS4 controller I returned? I remember when I borrowed my friend's PS4 controller, for me and my girlfriend to play Trivial Pursuit, the TP trophy set was installed on his account. Luckily, a trophy was never unlocked on his account - but is it possible? Thanks guys, I hope you understand what I mean. It's kind of difficult to explain, and ask, as I'm not quite sure about how this works.
Pumpkin Head Cthulhu
no it is not so do not worry. it is just a blu-tooth so nothing is "stored" on the controller.
DaivRules
Hey! It seems our PSN accounts are somehow paired or stored with our PS4 controllers. Do you have any more information about this? I've never heard of such a thing.
Maahniac
Do you have any more information about this? I've never heard of such a thing. Only that, as I wrote, my friend suddenly had the Trivial Pursuit trophy set installed on his profile, because me and my girlfriend played the game on my console, with his controller. TheYuriG
Pretty sure that happened because he had his account logged in your PS4. I got loads of PS4 lists in my account because my account is logged on my friend's PS4 console. Nothing gets stored on your controller, even though you might think that when it turns off when you log off a certain account.
Maahniac
Okay, but what if anyone uses my returned controller then? And logs into a console with my user, which is stored to the controller (?) and earns a trophy in a game? I know the trophy isn't stored to the controller, but if the controller is logged into my user?
Orenn16
Okay, but what if anyone uses my returned controller then? And logs into a console with my user, which is stored to the controller (?) and earns a trophy in a game? I know the trophy isn't stored to the controller, but if the controller is logged into my user? Nothing is stored on the controller. The log in is purely based on username and password. So in the example you gave with Trivial Pursuit, your friend must have been logged in at some point when Trivial Pursuit was played. It could have been with any controller. When you "turn on" the controller, it asks "who is using this controller?" Once the user is selected and logged in, trophy lists can populate. To emphasize; no information is stored on a PS4 controller what so ever. Account info, including trophies, are purely tied to Username and Password log ins. Maahniac
WTF are you talking about? Hey, I was just as confused about this It's, like I said numerous times now, all based on the fact that a trophy set was installed on my friend's account for a game I played with my friend's borrowed controller, which he never played on his console. I understand now the log-in thing. But I didn't before. So that's why I asked
yellowwindow7
your trophies are linked to your psn account, the dual shock 4 don't have a storage unit to store things to begin with.
