Well I got bored and decided to make a trophy guide for the game. To keep the guide size down, I've posted my gold medal times here and will link it from the guide. Maybe other people can post their times too should they wish. Now my times probably didn't make any of the leaderboards, but none the less they are all gold medal times.

How difficult are these Gold challenges?  How many lives do you get in each challenge?  
 

I haven’t played Mega Man in years so I want to complete this trophy set then do the next Legacy Collection.  Thanks for any help.

The earlier challenges range from easy to slightly difficult. There's videos of the fastest people that you can try to replicate. I don't recall if there's a limit to your lives, but usually dying a few times means you'll miss the gold medal. It's highly skill dependent, but I'd say most Megaman veterans will likely take 3-5 attempts per challenge. 

 

The later boss levels are where the difficulty spike occurs. A few of the challenges are painfully difficult.

They arent too difficult imo. You just have to know what weapons to use for clearing stages and bosses quickly. I think you get infinite lives. The challenges are all time based so you will sometimes take a death on purpose in order to fight certain bosses with full life going in. You can watch gold runs on youtube to make this even easier if you want.

Specifically, it's the boss rush challenges near the end that don't let you use any items except your default weapon that are the tough ones. There's little room for error. You're required to do at least four of these, since there's 54 challenges.

I watched the ingame replays for challenges that gave me troubles. I mainly watched the 10-30th placed times so I wasn't focusing on trying to replicate frame perfect manipulations.

yeah I’m doing that with YouTube vids.  So far it seems doable.  Not as bad as Metal Gear Solid 2, which is pure insanity

I found some of the earlier challenges (with MM2) harder than the later ones ?  I did the boss rush with default weapon on MM4-MM6 since you have the megabuster and didn't find those too bad. MM1 boss rush required perfect timing for Elec Man...
