Trophy Thoughts

As one of the few Americans with a Don Bradman Cricket 14 Platinum (PS3), I will agree that this will be more grindy than tough. If you can get the grind trophies with 2 controllers it will make it faster.

Another grind again but least it isn't for catches, hopefully you can get most with 2 controllers like the previous game

I remember the whole "catches" trophy. What a nightmare to learn the manual catch system... especially being an American who knew nothing about cricket going into this game. Best of luck and skill to all who take this one on!

I can't see why it won't work for 2 controllers like the past two titles.
Also surprised to not see the win 5 online games or something like that as well.
I think the biggest issue for me will be the Tworiffic trophy and depending on how your skill level goes up Top Skill might take some time as well.

Platinumed the DBC 14 the other day and a huge fan of the series. The wickets, runs and catches grind isn't there but definitely bowling 5k dot balls and 2222 twos will take a long time. But it should mean the platinum will have a low enough percentage to make it worth while. I'm definitely hunting this platinum, although I'm not a huge fan of career mode that will be the biggest pain for me. I prefer to play outside of it.

The game has a few bugs which effect the count just like the past two titles. For an example I have stats under batting on one of the modes but the total game count is 0. I have taken around 15 motion catches but my stats have 3.

The game has crashed 5 times and while there is an auto save 3 out of 5 times the stats for that game were not counted after the game was finished. I have not tracked game by game but I am sure I have played way more then my total count.

There is also a bug after skipping your partners batting where sometimes it will put you down the bowlers end of the pitch and it will be an instant dismissal, the auto save will allow you to quit and reload the game at that point fixing the issue but sometimes the stats are not carried over from that game session when you do so.

Is it worth getting.

I think its a great improvement from the past game, Has a lot more to offer but there are some bugs, still very little in the way of licensed players or productions.
If your up for a good sports game then yes but if your happy to wait till it gets a bit cheaper then that's also an option.

If your a trophy hunter then avoid it unless your willing to accept a very long grind.

Has the licensing for players, teams, logos etc improved from the previous version?

I also noticed you've played a fair bit of this game, would you recommend this?

P.S: I love watching cricket, watched the recently concluded Australia vs Pakistan test match at Gabba (due to the sheer brilliance of that match), although, neither of them is my home country but I am not a hardcore fan and the last cricket game I played was EA Sport's Cricket 07.

The Licensing has not improved I think its almost the same.
The gameplay is one of the better cricket games out there but it has a few bugs and a lot of game crashing at this stage.

A lot of the career trophies can be simulated as long as you play the game(s) in question. I did not know this till the very end of that mode for me but ah well.

The game is great for cricket fans but due to the crashing/glitches unless your a massive fan I would wait for either a patch or a price drop.

Do you have any tips on any Game Settings that can make it a bit easier?

Before each match I set the batting and bowling to easiest, but I'm still struggling, especially with the batting. Whenever I go for an aggressive shot with L2, I almost always get caught, despite the fact that I have green indicators saying it was perfectly timed with good footwork and a good shot selection. I've played over 20 matches and my highest individual score is only 20 so far :(

I hit a brick wall with the final trophies I am over half way with each I will get to it at some stage or just do 10 - 15 overs here and there till I obtain them both.

To be honest after playing the previous game the learning curve was not needed this time around. The only things I can recommend would be the following;

Make sure to keep an eye for when the fielding positions change.

In options there is a custom mode that will allow you to change heaps of settings right down to how a ball will bounce.
Backfoot was really not needed this time around, the only time you need a backfoot is for a very short bouncer.
If you go out quickly pause the game and exit, as the auto save takes place after the wicket so you can load it back up and face the same ball again.

There would be many other tips so hopefully some of the others can give you a hand.

I hadn't noticed that the batting/bowling difficulty level had to be set to custom for my changes to take effect.

  • 3 weeks later...

I'm down to the final 2 trophies for bowling 5,000 dot balls and running 2,222 twos. I managed to get all the other trophies by playing normally, although it took ages to get the trophy for overturning an umpire's decision - I think there's a high degree of luck in that one.

I'm going to have to grind out the last 2 trophies with 2 controllers. Despite playing the game quite heavily for the last 3 weeks, I think I have only run around 30 twos, mainly because my career player doesn't have any stamina. If I was continuously playing this game  normally, I probably still wouldn't have the 2,222 twos needed for the trophy this time next year!!!

You can check how many dot balls and twos you have made,

I have not touched it in a while but I am over half way for both these trophies. I hope to have them done soon

Just wondering can you still do like the previous game get most of the trophies with 2 controllers?

To be honest I have not tried yet, given you can simulate some trophies I am going to assume you can use 2 controllers.

How do you check how many 2s you've done? I've done well over 2,222 and still no trophy?

Been a while since I turned this on but there was a stats section that shows you all your stats for each game mode (ODI,Test,T20 and so on) you just need to add all these up from all the game modes to get your final total.

Im struggling to hit anything in this game, had no problem hitting 6s all day on the orginal Don Bradman, can't understand what im doing wrong, always "poor shot choice", "poor footing" and "good timing"

I'm the opposite, found 6's easier on 17 than on 14. You trying for the 6 6's in an over trophy?

I've done it on exhibition, is there a stat section for that? I know there's one in career mode, but I don't think it said anything about twos?

I've done a few innings in exhibition, I've reached 2,850, 1,028, 979 and I'm on 1,200 again at the moment. You need 4,400 runs in twos for the trophy, and I've done so much more than that.
