How do you tell which region is which trophy list?

Recommended Posts

First off, I have no idea where to post this question, I thought about general discussion but it didn't sound right to me. If I'm posting this in the wrong spot please move it to the right one.

How do you tell which trophy list is for which region? I ask because sometimes I'll see 2 or 3, sometimes 4 different lists for the same set of trophies but I've been told that's because they belong to different regions (ie North America, Europe, Asia, etc... ) but I can't tell once I click on the list which region it's for.

When checking a trophy list, there's a list of recent players on the right. Just click on a few usernames and check their country on the upper left part of the PSN Profile page. If you don't recognize a flag, just hover over it and the country's name will appear.

I understand that, but shouldn't there be a more easier way than checking which regions the usernames belong to? Wouldn't a flag on the the trophy list itself be more useful or easier?

Oh ... wait... I get what you're saying... I think, the trophy lists are comprised based on the player base? So, lets say, if I play the game and get a trophy it will show a trophy list for North America but if you play it and get a trophy it will also show a trophy list for Europe because your from Nederlands?

Not quite. He is saying if you see certain countries continue to show up while checking that lists recent players, it is more than likely that list belongs to the countries in that region.

Ok so, why have multiple lists then? Regional trophies shouldn't matter unless those games are only released in those regions.

Makes sense i guess. Not all games from different regions stack though.

Yeah, it is a game by game basis.

I think it is just how Sony likes to do their stuff since they have so many regional divisions, unlike Microsoft. That is why you don't see dual achievement lists. Just my guess though.

Quite a few Xbox 360 (Less XB1) games have regional variations with dual+ lists. US/Japan/Korea/Germany/Australia. They are only playable if you have an imported system, or are backwards compatible. That's the nice thing about PS3's- they are region free, unlike 360's.

Ah, well then I stand corrected. I have never owned a MS console so I was kinda just assuming.

Also a problem is, that the multiplayer is locked.

I had a German version of Saints Row 3 (because Austrians are using Amazon Germany too) and I wasn't able to complete the game achievementwise. Because the online service for this game was only accepting German accounts. And nobody told you that before. :D So, it's really a nice move from Sony that they tolerate that we have multiple accounts for different regions and that we can play everything from all accounts on our main account...

That may be helpful but on the same time a luck dependend... i for example have 4 version of Sound Shape ps4 in my list so the only hint which list is tied to which region is that my first ps4 entry is several days older than the other three... seeing my country is within EU it's a guess that that's also the first version of the game...

@kmosesltd good idea with the flags for trophy list... or just any kind of info... like adding "US", "EU", "JP" to any trophy entry

@Neputyunu thx for the explanation... looking at this, Japanese and Chinese look more akind than Korean to me... but as Satoshi said in general all "rune" lists remain unreadable = japanese to me

Of course. Kanji (Japanese alphabet) is derived from Chinese and simplified.

Kanji is pretty much readable Hanzi (Chinese alphabet) =D

So yea, Japanese and Chinese are similar, that's why Korean is easier to distinguish for someone who is not well versed in one of the languages.
