What is your all-time favorite old school RPG?

SNES era:

Chrono Trigger

Final Fantasy IV (aka II upon initial release in NA)

PSOne era:

Final Fantasy VII

Final Fantasy IX

Never got to sink my teeth into BOF. As a kid I remember seeing adverts in gaming mags for IV and always wanting to get it for the PS.

I didn't play BOFIV but it's available on PSN so I may check it out. I'm have begun to buy digital versions of old RPGs now. Xenogears was my first one.

Pokemon easily
aside from that Tales of Symphonia used to play it quite a bit.

Everyone and their moms were playing Pokémon back in the early 2000s lol

I agree!!! LOD had a battle system that kept you engaged especially when you had Lavitz in your party. His combos were sweet to watch!

Dang! I almost forgot.

Hell Yeah! Lavitz combo FTW!

And another BIG YEASH to LOD's battle system, it was marked as Industry's first during it's release.

Brings back some good'ol memory indeed. #nostalgia

With a topic like this, it needs clarification on the end timeline. Like up to which generation is considered the last for old school?

GBA: Pokemon Emerald/Dragon Ball Z: Legacy of Goku II

I grew up with Sonic, Mario, opportunities to play Zelda, Pokemon, fighters, racers, adventure games, platformers, and shooters, so I didnt experience a lot of RPGs aside from Pokemon and HH Dbz titles.
