PSA: PLATINUM IS UNOBTAINABLE

I know there are threads about the specific issue already, but I'm making this one to make it 100% clear to new players. The only online trophy,  Pay It Forward, requires you to gift an item to a friend, which is impossible now that the game's servers have been shut down. If you bought the recent Humble Bundle and care about your completion percentage, play the PS4 version instead.

It really is a pity. I remember back in 2013 when the studio was folding and the servers shut down before I got the trophy. They came back up briefly, thankfully, but now they're gone for good it deprives many of the opportunity for an enjoyable plat.

There's still the PS4 version which doesn't have the online trophy, but yeah it sucks that I won't be able to stack it if I end up enjoying Deathinitive (at the moment though, it's failing to capture my attention in the way Darksiders 1 did and I'm not even sure why).

I have Darksiders for PS3 and Darksiders II DE for PS4 so phew. 

 

This is why online trophies are a bad idea.

If you do play the PS4 version, I'd really suggest turning off the damage display (you know, the numbers that show up when you hit something). They really screwed up when they ported the game to PS4 (dunno about Xbox One or PC), and large crit numbers cause the game to crash.

So the ps4 version of Darksiders 2 is 100%able? It's just the PS3 version that has the unobtainable trophy.

With all due respect, that's not a surprise while on a community about trophy hunting.

Perhaps it's a waste of time, as are most hobbies, but at the end of the day, as long as people are enjoying it, /shrug.

People collect for different reasons, doesn't matter if it's stamps, coins, pins or trophies. Some just go for whatever trophies they can get, others are in for plats or 100%. If they can't complete the set they are hunting, collecting can become unsatisfying and frustrating.

Except they don't enjoy it if they neglect a game because a meaningless platinum is unachieveable. I get it, I'm the unpopular opinion, because everybody treats platinum like money on this site, but I'll never not play a game I otherwise would, just because I can't get a platinum.

You can say something is a hobby, or something is for fun, but when you purposely avoid something because you can't get something specific out of it... that's just shitty.

I have both Darksiders on my bakclog physically so why shall i not play II cause a trophy got unobtainable  .Fuck that , i'll play it anyway even tho i won't get the plat never .

So speaking the truth is trolling now and means you're lonely? He wasn't being a jackass. Not playing something simply because 2 trophies are unobtainable IS shitty, especialky when every other trophy is and completion whores can still get 95% out of this game. A game which has top notch production, a badass and hilarious hero and a very funny dark sense of humor. Darksiders II is a spectacular experience, so not playing it because of two silly trophies is a poor attitude to have with gaming.

 

I love trophies. I have 12 platinums, but I have never let my love of platinums get in the way of what could be an amazing experience.

I get missing out on a great game for a trophy is sad, but again this IS a trophy site. Trophies matter to most of us and to tell us otherwise and to insult us as a result IS trolling.

I brought up my platinum obsession in job interviews. I bring it up a lot with my students. They get a kick out of it.

 

It's no different from, say, collecting sports memorabilia (which I don't anymore) or comics (which I still do).

I swear, you write the strangest things. I can't think of a better reason to avoid something than because I don't get what I want out of it. Again, that just seems like basic economics.

Looking at your profile, I can see why it doesn't make sense to you. It doesn't make sense to me why my goals and how I game would bother someone who doesn't even know me.

Guys, stop. Would everyone please just start enjoying their hobby the way I want them to? I mean, all these wrong opinions are so exhausting. Sure, how you choose to spend your time doesn't affect me or my gaming AT ALL, but still it would be best for everyone just to do it the right way (i.e., my way). Thanks, all!

 

P.S. No one call me out on this, because this is simply The Truth. It says so right in this very post (refer to previous sentence).
