Weirdest thing you own?

This question could go anywhere.  Everyone's definition of weird is going to be different.  For instance I own two living creatures (a cat and a rabbit), and I think that concept is pretty weird.

I guess the weirdest thing I own that most people would think was weird is probably a chess set.  I got a nice chess set from Turkey that is the Ottoman Empire vs the Roman Crusaders.  Then when I went to Greece I bought a nicely carved marble board for the set to be played on.  I found it fitting that the Ottomans and the Romans were fighting over Greece.

Well, mankind has been keeping animals as pets for thousands of years now, I'd say it's pretty standard :) It's weird to think about them as 'owning' them though, me and the wife see our dog as part of the family instead of 'just' a pet.

Cool chess set and board, by the way. Do you happen to have a picture?

Cool thread, I find it difficult to answer though since it's difficult for me to register something as 'weird' or 'not weird'. My mancave is filled with stuff that others would think is weird, like a huge LEGO Tower Bridge, a plush companion cube, a stuffed buzzard shot decades ago by my grandfather... Our living room is not exempt from stuff we like that others would think is weird either, like an amfora, a bust of Poseidon, a Revell scale model of the Titanic, Hard Rock shotglasses... I used to have a melting clock but I dropped it and it broke, still have to get a new one. We also used to have a world scratch map but it didn't survive the move to the new home.

Going to disregard anything that's not 'on display' as I have boxes full of shit from years ago, like fingerlights and sound activated LED shirts (I still think those are cool but as I never go to disco parties any more...).

... Okay, perhaps the one thing I have that would be most commonly seen as 'weird' by others is a binary watch (it has small lights, one row for hours and one row for minutes - on means 1 and off means 0).

I am not, nor have I even been an animal person.  I have had this conversation with my wife before, but I won't be more sad when Crowlie (our rabbit) or Odin (our cat) die than I will be when my ps4 dies.  I could just go out and replace either if I wanted.  I know that people have attachments to their pets, and I have nothing against that, I just don't get it.  So I guess that it is why I think of it more as ownership rather than part of the family.  Don't get me wrong, it isn't like I don't take care of them and treat them well, I am just not deeply emotionally attached.

As for my chess set, I will try and remember to take a picture of it tonight.  One of the Rooks is chipped off the top because I learned the hard way that I cannot keep it in a room that the cat has access to, because he is a tyrant lol.

I have some weird Japanese game collectibles (e.g. art books and figures) from Collector's Editions of games, mostly from Hyperdimension games. But since this is PSNP, that isn't weird for this audience. :P

My overall weirdest item is probably a (worthless) framed reproduction copy of the original "butcher" album cover of this Beatles album: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yesterday_and_Today. I'm not interesting enough to have bought it myself, instead a collector friend gave it to me.

On a side note, I don't have the actual album itself, since I have the proper British versions of all their albums (well, the CD remasters of them) and don't have any of the American versions.

The weirdest thing I own is a coin purportedly minted during the time of Constantine the Great.

The weirdness? It's totally a fake. However, I have to pretend it's real, because my mom and stepfather bought it for me, and it would break their hearts if they found out the truth. Thus, I have to keep it on display in my house.

Hmm, this one is a toughie.

Some of my friends have found it weird I've kept these.

So, back when Super Mario Bros. 3 was about to come out, my mom was working for Nintendo at the time. Nintendo of America decided to celebrate its release by throwing an employee only party at a relatively large lake and campground area that is a great party location. All NOA employees were invited, and Nintendo was supplying free food, drinks, you name it. Nintendo used these really cool, high quality poster prints of Mario and arrows that led to the party for people who did not know where to go. Each poster was of a different version of Mario; so small, big, flower power (lol), etc, and other characters (such as Bowser, etc.). After the party, they let my mom, at her request, take all of them. She got them individually wrapped in clear packaging to preserve their quality.

About 8 years ago, she gave them all to me. I still keep them, cherished, but put away inside my closet. In October of next year, the game, and these posters, will be 30 years old.

Hey, I've played that! ...at a game exhibition. They had Chip-Chan Kick, fun game x3

That's a fun one, kinda plays like bubble bobble. The system is mainly known for having a lot of porno games on it, but it also has some great ones like Zenki FX, Zeroigar, Chip Chan Kick etc
