Popular Post MesopithecusUK
As we all live in different parts of the world, surrounded by all kinds of different beauty (nature, architecture, etc.) I thought it would be a nice idea to have a thread dedicated to photos you have taken and want to share. Any commentary on the photo is also welcome I'll start off with a couple of mine This one is of a Northern Cardinal and was taken from the yard of my house. He pretty much wakes me up every morning with his song, so thought getting a cool snap of him would be fitting This next one is of a beautiful Monarch Butterfly that posed for me during a visit to our local botanical gardens Finally, this is one of my favorite birds - Great Blue Heron. I snapped this one yesterday and so far, husband and I encountered one of these on our wedding day and both anniversaries so it has some special meaning. I look forward to seeing any future photos that are shared by others Edited May 22, 2017 by Rach
Popular Post Avatar_Of_Battle
Unfortunately, without a real camera all of my stuff is taken from various phones lol. Florida Stuff This one isn't mine, my dad took it outside of where he was working at the time. He actually got the owl rescued. Random crane that just decided to land in front of me. One of the last photos I took before leaving florida. Landed in a bush near the van and decided it didn't mind being photographed lol. Random photos I took here in MA.
Popular Post Parker
I'm far from a photographer so don't expect anything good, but these are from the first day I got a DSLR, a Nikon D3200, and I was just messing around. Parker
Nothing particularly amazing about the quality of the photos (they were taken on my Pixel XL) but we had a confirmed EF-1 tornado touchdown last night and this is just some of the carnage. Luckily my house wasn't damaged at all but my neighbor lost all three of their vehicles. Their son had his car parked in the front of their house and they had another tree fall in the front yard, right on top of that one too. My other next door neighbor just lost his bridge, trampoline and a few trees but no damage to the house. Parker

Dragon-Archon
Don't expect any great photos, as I just shoot them when spotting something nice. This was shot 2 weeks ago from my balcony when the flowers in the trees were all blooming. I like the view a lot, as these trees remind me of cherry blossoms. I've been feeding some Blue Herons once in a while and one of them sometimes sits at the edge of the balcony. Don't have a photo of that yet, but will post it once I have the opportunity to take a shot. Spoiler Same tree a few years ago back when winter was actually winter instead of a prolonged autumn. Snow is a very rare thing nowadays in The Netherlands. Spoiler On 28-4-2017 at 10:46 PM, Jibril said: Took this one with my phone after a morning jog. I thought the sunrise looked kinda pretty. MesopithecusUK
@BillyHorrible Nope, it's a general photography thread for sharing some of your favorite pictures with the community I was just really saying that we all live in different corners of the world, filled with magnificent beauty, so it would be great to share any photos (and experiences) you've captured. It can be in your home country or on holidays.

Popular Post FarSideOfSaturn
Hey guys. I'm here to share my less than impressive photos I took on my phone. So I climbed Arthur's Seat today, which for those of you who don't know is an extinct volcano dating back 335 million years in my hometown, Edinburgh, Scotland. It's only 251m (823ft) but that's high enough to get a great view over the entire city and the surrounding areas. If anyone does happen to visit, it's roughly a 15 minute walk, east of the city centre though it can be climbed from multiple directions. Generally, it'll take 45 to 60 minutes to reach the summit depending on the route you take. This rockface, Salisbury Crags actually formed independently in front of Arthur's Seat which lies just behind it. On the main path to the summit, to the left the remnants of a hill fort dating back to around 600 AD can be seen. Slightly further up the main path, I didn't get the name of the small lake unfortunately. To the left is Easter Road Stadium, home of one of Scottish footballs biggest teams, Hibernian Football Club. We took this from just beyond the halfway point, pointing back to the same lake as before. View from the southern slope where a larger lake can be spotted. A view of the summit. Slighter higher up, this is the path that joins Arthur's Seat and Salisbury Crags which is in the backround The Northbound view from the summit, looking out over the Firth of Forth at the point where it meets the North Sea. A sundial looking thing on the summit showing the height and distance of various elevated areas around Scotland and also the latitude and longitude of Arthur's Seat. Lat 55.56.43.8 N, Long 3.9.38.3 W Zoomed in view Westbound. To the right Edinburgh Castle can be seen, which rests of top of another, smaller extinct volcano. Apologizes for the quality. I'm not a professional by any means and like I said, I only had my phone on me to take photos with, hope you enjoyed! FarSideOfSaturn
Me and my girlfriend went to an Indian festival in the centre of town tonight, there were music acts but they were pretty awful so we left for a coffee and bite to eat in Starbucks and came back later for the fireworks. The festival itself is called Diwali, a festival of lights celebrated in the Northern Hemisphere. This year they set up camp at the stage in Princess Street Gardens with Edinburgh Castle in the background. We're going to a different festival next week so I should be back with more pics soon. Mesopithecus
Not the greatest picture, but this is the first Pileated Woodpecker I've seen. It was in the tree right outside our house, sounded like he was chopping the tree down

FarSideOfSaturn
Start of the Christmas celebrations in Edinburgh. The lights were actually turned on a few days ago but the official event isn't til a few days later. They switch everything off and at 5pm on the Sunday they turn everything back on and act like the last few days didn't exist
Avatar_Of_Battle
Nothing better than a good ol' necro. I'm only now realizing that since I deactivated my FB account earlier this year the photos I've posted are all broken links. Taken with my LG G5. The first 2 I zoomed in a bit and then just screenshot it as a new photo. Pretty sure my father took this one with a camera that was oddly enough bought for me as a gift lol.
Mesopithecus
Hoping to revive this thread a little - my husband bought me a new camera for Christmas and has been encouraging me to enjoy some creativity in some of my hobbies. I've been testing it out and here are three of my favorites so far - I've put them in spoiler tags as they are quite big in size Little blue heron, taken at the retention pond near to where we live Spoiler Banded Water Snake, taken at our local wetlands Spoiler Little Egret, again taken at our local wetlands Spoiler Edited January 14, 2019 by Mesopithecus

Willerix
Recently, I have also taken a great interest in photography. So far I am shooting with my smartphone camera, but I already have some success. I recently took some beautiful sunrise shots. I am currently using imageupscaler and will be editing them in Lightroom. After that, I will share my footage.
