Squad defence is the best mode for getting your kill and melee related trophies. It's basically an endless survival game mode where waves of enemies come flooding at you, meaning you can boost your headshots, kills etc.. all within that game mode. There are no private lobbies, but literally only a handful of people play the game, and they usually only stick to one game mode, so just play a different mode and it'll just be you and your friend. The medals can only be obtained in public matches, so squad defence won't count for the medals. But if you are going for the platinum, just be prepared to spend well over 100hours of constant boosting.
