Has anyone dipped into the "remaster" yet? How does it look? Does it play well? Anything interesting?

I haven't noticed anything different. I don't know if its because i haven't played the game 12 years or what. Its still worth the money though. I forgot how good it was.

Yeesh, that's rough. These are the most Square Enix-ass prices. Like, not $20, but $21. Not $30, but $31.95. Lol wut. 

 

Anyway, I bit the bullet and bought it. Last time I played it I loved it but then my disc corrupted and I could never get past this specific point without the game freezing. So I have some unfinished business.

 

My buddy says the character models looks nice (less jaggies), but the menus still look fuzzy.

That's gaming in Australia, expensive and sometimes not worth it at all. I mean Overwatch is still $99.95 at EB, this weekend doesn't count since it's on sale.

Yeah it's a joke, Also the reason why I'll over shop in Japan if I'm there. If I ever visit the U.S I'd do the same there.

Yeah no kidding...
But Japanese games are also expansive, mostly because of the shipping cost.

I played the game many years ago but never finished it, now I have a change to finish it, I think they did a good job with ps2 version, it looks better then the original version I think

They did a good job with making it look better, which is a plus. The game has crashed on me 4 times, but it's not been bad, other than those times. Gladly I save so much and it didn't affect me. Also, I don't think $21 is too much for it like many people are saying. I'm 45 hours in and just started disc 2, so I'm getting the same amount, probably more, out of this game for 1/3rd the cost than a normal PS4 game at $60, compared to my recent games I've played.

It's funny how cheap games are there in comparison to buying from sites like playasia, I mean I love PA but talk about mark up. I caved in and bought star ocean, I had $50 on and bought Dead island riptide at half price and spent the rest on star ocean.

Wow. I forgot just how bad the AI was in this game. On the plus side, playing the dragon songs is easy as pie now.

Same here, but only once did it really gnaw at me. I was going for a chain of 500 and it glitched at 243 (so, I missed the 250 BT as well as the 500). I guess it's better than glitching at 443. 

 

the game doesn't seem to like the player getting rid of all the black in the Mosel Dunes. I had all of my other three crashes there.

Yeah crashing in this game is really bad and random, I crashed consistently in one hallway while in the Firewall area: had to use an older save to pass through without crashing. Save frequently!

This is the worst Jrpg I've ever played, and I've played a lot. I can look past the dated graphics, don't mind the shitty camera controls and the mediocre story (so far) but the battle system is absolutely horrendous. It's so shitty that I don't bother fighting anymore but let my AI teammates do everything. I've tried to get back into/like this game 4 times now but it's just no fun at all. Guess I'll shelve it again for now, my 5th try will be my last...
