If you don't mind buying online, Amazon.com is a great place to buy from. Or eBay can be a great place for deals as well.

Played a few hours today and make some progress. I am currently at the end of the Golden Grove (Drove, maybe?) and am about to face the boss. Unfortunately I don't have time tonight to finish the fight but I plan on beating him tomorrow. This game just keeps getting better and better.

So how far is everyone in this game?

I'm at the Temple of Trials, Lv. 14. I let Esther have one of my Familiars because I didn't use it (Seed Sprite from Golden Grove).

By the way, what is your favorite Familiar so far and what is its name? My favorite is the Thumbelemur Familiar (Name: Murko). Although its defense isn't the best. I use the Mite Familiar (Name: Dowse) the most because its stats are balanced out. I hardly use Oliver unless I need to heal.

Before you read the spoiler, know that I am about 24 hours into the game. I tried to only talk about familiars, but you have been warned :)

I have made it to Hamilin (I think that is what it is called). I think I am level 23 or 24. My most used familiar is the mite, but I am changing that out for a little bighorn (I evolved it to a big horn). It moves a little slower, but it has a natural resistance to physical, and no weakness. I also really like Esther's base Familiar. The other ones I have caught are the evolved forms of the following: The Drone Bee, the clubber tiger, Shonky that you get from the trials, and one of the owls. Oh and I almost forgot my second favourite familiar right now, one of the floating suns. After I replace my Mite, I think that I am going to add one of the spriggots, or maybe a boogie if they are any good. I also find that I am using Oliver in most boss fights, because his magic spells are stronger then my familiars right now, and not to mention his golden glim attack is awesome.

Esther just joined my party and I'm doing some leveling right now. Currently at level 15 and I think I'll grind until I'm level 17 or 18 before I continue with the story. So far this game has exceeded all my expectations and I haven't touched Gran Turismo 5 since I've started this game which is a huge accomplishment. Can't wait to play more.

Just got the platinum for this game, and I've got to say that the story was incredible. This is probably going to be my GOTY. I really don't know what to say except that the voice acting was great and the plot was surprisingly refreshing and hard to guess. It could have held the player's hand less, but the farming for the alchemy ingredients made up for it.

Congratulations on the platinum, did you buy the game on the US release date? If so, you must have played quite a bit in order to platinum the game so fast. If I may, what would you rate the difficulty of this platinum? Is anything miss-able or can you backtrack whenever you want to get things you missed? I'm sure many members are curious.

Yeah. I bought it when it was released in US and did skip two nights of sleep near the end. I'd probably rate it maybe a 5 or 6/10. The Solosseum and end-game boss can be somewhat challenging, especially on normal, but most of it's just patience in trying to get the rare ingredients for the 120 alchemized items needed and taming 250 familiars. Everything else is pretty straightforward and simple. Nothing trophy-wise is missable, but there are a few minor Wizard Companion's entries that are missable if you're a true completionist.

1) Some pages can be only gained from Father Oak at specfic times in the story by going visit him, I believe.

2) The Wretch enemies during the ashes event only show up that one time.

3) Before heading into the marshes, the Flash Fry only appears on the narrow road to it and must be battled before you beat Shadar if you want their location to be entered into your Wizard's Companion.

I had a pretty productive night. I flew through the Temple of Trials (not difficult at all) and beat the boss on the Volcano. Now I'm on my way to the Cove but I'm going to do some more side quests first. I've "evolved" quite a few of my Familiars which is pretty cool and Oliver is level 22.

Just got to the fairyground... about to jump inside the fairy godmother to unclog the "littlies" but i will probably do some grinding to obtain a couple more familiars and levels and gold... stuff is expensive yo!

I have about 25-30 different familiars as well and there are about 3 that i don't have in the area that im currently grinding plus some of the water areas but im currently shipwrecked so those will have to wait.

i think im around level 25-30 with about half of my familiars ready to morph... ive read in the guide that if you wait to morph the familiars they will ultimately end up stronger in the long run... the guide also suggests in the early days of the game to just morph as you see fit and not to worry too much about waiting.

i actually might be higher level than that... i might be thinking of one or two of my familiars instead of my character Oliver...

ive been grinding more so i will probably get leveled up a lot more...

im not even sure i know what mornstar is... i can't remember... is that before you get the boat?

You are not as far as mornstar. It is a wand that you get some time after the Fairy World.

Anyone notice how Old Father Oak's face looks like that of a Ferbie?

I was actually thinking King Dedede, but I see a Furby too, now.

So far I like the game quite a bit. The combat kind of reminds me of Radiata Stories, the visuals are great and I love the music. I haven't really been able to chisel away at it very much, so I just got to the part where you get your first actual wand. Here's hoping I have time this weekend to enjoy it properly.

Haven't been able to play this all week, because I have a full time job, and well, from what I've been hearing about this game, I wouldn't be able to put it down, and I'd end up staying up super late if I played it. Weekend rolled around, and I'm about to enter Golden Grove and I fucking love this game so far.

Just beat the main story after two days of having no power (and irregular work hours; going back in an hour). All that leaves is the post-game side quests, bounties, the Solosseum, and some grinding for guilders (500k and Casino trophies).

Such a great game, really.

I just got to Yule, looking for the final magical stone. I just recently recruited 3 familiars that I intend to have in my final party, and will max them out as I evolve them. They are: Sillymander, Monolith, and Naja. The Sillymander and the Naja are both fast moving and fast attackers (I use a dragonstooth ring to increase attack speed to 4 and 5 respectively). They will both end up with decently high attacks and defenses, and have what looks like a nice collection of skills, so I am happy with them. The monolith will be a good tank as it will have massive defense and magic defense.

I have a question about evolving the familiars. Does anyone know how much of a difference letting a familiar reach max level before evolving it has on its stats? Is it worth waiting?

The main purpose in waiting would be to allow them to learn Tricks that their evolved forms would not learn otherwise. Aside from that, I haven't seen much difference in stats (if any), outside of the use of treats.

With regards to my question, yes it makes a difference if you level them up to max before you metamorph them. This shows an example: http://i.stack.imgur.com/OUB2j.jpg

It is a difference of almost 20 points across the board, so if you are trying to make an end game party, it may be a good idea. This is just the difference between second the third forms, so I would imagine this effect is added to if you do it between first and second forms as well. During the story however it is not overly important, I have never waited on my other familiars, and I have always been strong enough to keep up everywhere I go. It isn't always easy, but I can survive.
