Popular Post Macabro
Games used to be hard. Now developers are afraid of the internet, so games have become a little easier.
Popular Post MeteorHawk
I died five times on the first island. That's five more times than I'm used to given the last time I played the original the first time I died in that playthrough was towards the end of the second island (one of the misty bridge levels). The controls take a little getting used to but that's just by virtue of being newly remade games on a new console. Dark Souls? Puh-lease. I haven't even played DS because it's too hard for me to open the case.
Conker
Crash bandicoot is the new dark souls makes me laugh Gamers nowdays have it easy, some those games back in the day were not to be messed with
New display name
The game has somehow "transformed into Super Meat Boy"... ok that just about sums up the whole review Edited June 30, 2017 by Smithy

Anyway, I find that reviewers and writers in general these days like to lump things into categories that are personified by whatever is in their recent memory. Dark Souls has become the category for hard games. I'm sure retro reviews would call old NES games the "Dark Souls of platforming" and so on. Reviewers are dumb. Popular Post Undead Wolf
I hate this comparison at the best of times, but the context it's used in here makes absolutely no sense. Crash Bandicoot is over 20 years old, so how in the hell did it "become Dark Souls"? How old is this reviewer? With all the games that hold your hand these days, it might be hard to remember, but difficult games have been around ever since they were first conceived; Dark Souls didn't invent them. What a ridiculous thing to say.

As someone who platted the whole Souls series I find that comparison akin to comparing assault rifles to whipped cream.
Asvinia
It's as hilarious as when Metroid and other classic games were released on Nintendo's virtual store and their Mii pages or whatever they're called where full of kids not knowing how the games work. I once thought that games were good for problem solving skill growth, but now I'm not so sure. It's like games have become so easy and hold your hand so much, the kids have no idea how even the most basic things work. But we have to remember that game journalists typically don't play a lot of games, they play maybe 5-10 hours of a game, review it and move on. When was the last time anyone saw a game journalist that was actually able to play games competently? The only ones I've seen is maybe the Playstation Access guys.

What a ridiculous thing to say. Took the words right out of my mouth. And @MeteorHawk is right, the game being rebuilt from scratch makes it feel different from the originals. Anyone remember their first time playing the originals? Those were difficult to get used to as well, or at least that's how I felt. This was to be expected and these comparisons are moronic.
Popular Post yellowwindow7
guess all these people who's saying it's too hard and it's unforgiving have never played the ps1 originals before and yet trying to act as a huge fan of the original crash bandicoot.... since the day I played crash the first time on ps1 and it was well known of it's difficulty spikes, surprisingly it's one of the reasons why the original crash games was so addicting back then, and also another reason why naughty dog back then did all those different death animations or death scene.

GarciaFever
Seriously? I have never played any of the Souls games, let alone the new Crash Bandicoot game, but for them to say it's hard because you die a lot is just bullshit now. DrakeHellsing
I agree, I may have died a lot on that Native Fortress level, but I don't compare it to Dark Souls, that's for sure x.x
RevengeancePrime
I never found the Crash games to be difficult, so I guess it's just new players who don't have much experience with these older platformers.
turpinator1986
I still play the originals and I think the remastered is slightly harder. But that's just the new controls and different mechanics I think. Its not even in the same league as dark souls. I'm not even qualified to look at that game in the store. Popular Post charlijaen
Are you serious? The people have become more stupid and games a lot easier. The original Crash Bandicoot only let you save if you completed a difficult bonus wave every 3 levels. Now you can save as much as you want, (I actually disliked the change. I loved how hardcore it was originally). Games have become really easy since PS3 generation started. I used to like difficult games, but no new games are difficult nowadays..

gameoncomrade
The reviewers just doesn't know how to play the damn games properly. I got used to the enhanced controls in a matter of minutes. To be honest, it feels better now than with a PS1 controller. I almost have all 30 golden relics now in Warped, and I'm gonna play the first two games from the trilogy first thing tomorrow. This is not like Dark Souls for me - maybe because I've played it for MANY MANY years? Or because it's quite simple?
