That Other, Other Platinum Race, that's also rather misleading

Welcome to all to this Challenge!

 

I would like to say that this is a standard Platinum race, but that would be a lie. I would also say that this will produce some some WOW moments as to what great Platinums that will be achieved , so rare that only a handful of people will have ever achieved them. This will probably be a lie too.

But enough of me playing down this thread, lets get on with why we are here.

 

This was originally brought about by Edunstar84 who mentioned that there were 'too many Plat races to keep up with' and the they all seemed to feature the same people who have been hunting for the lowest rarity Platinums available on PSNP. So, we, as mostly newbs to this level of trophy hunting decided to test ourselves. By throwing ourselves into an arena where only one may be victorious after a year of brutal combat, blood, sweat and most likely tears. Or just by earning the rarest trophies we can.

 

This competition will run from 1st July 2017 12PM until 1st July 2018 12PM. You may be thinking this is a bit odd, but we originally planned to run from these dates but the original thread somehow got scrubbed.

 

The points we have decided upon are as follows:

VR trophies = 1 point

UR trophies = 2 points

VR platinum = 3 points

UR platinum = 4 points

 

So here are the competitors:

Starting Stats:

2175 Total Trophies

15UR Trophies = 0.69% of all trophies earned

42VR Trophies = 1.93% of all trophies earned

 

Besides having a profile named after a monkey that lived 7 million years ago, she previously had an account under the name of RachP13 which had quite an impressive array of trophies. Competing in many events on the forums, she has a strong reputation as being a fierce competitor. Starting with the lowest amount of VR and UR trophies won't be much of a hindrance to the overwhelming favourite in this unconventional Plat Race.

Starting Stats:

2458 Total Trophies

27UR Trophies = 1.10% of all trophies earned

108VR Trophies = 4.39% of all trophies earned

 

The instigator for this unconventional race, she prefers the long story driven affairs of JRPG's and other similar games. With completing these games, there is a lot of drive to finish everything 100% and as of July there were only 16 uncompleted games on her profile (before entering KYOC 4). But delving into the realms of the VR and UR may be a step too far, or it may be the start of something great and new, only time will tell.

12UR Trophies = 0.16% of all trophies earned

93VR Trophies = 1.21% of all trophies earned

 

Me. I can honestly say that I am the real dark horse in this race. I have the lowest percentage of UR and VR based on trophies earned, have the lowest completion rating, have the lowest self esteem... I'll stop there. My backlog is huge (717 games and counting) so I should have some hidden rare gems in there somewhere right? In any case, I may have to sacrifice my standing in the THL to commit to this, not sure I'm ready for this step yet...

So what's the strategy here guy? Don't care if you know mine. So I've been working on Mugen Souls Z, but I need a bit of a break. It's a lot to take in right now, and I'll be starting Muramasa Rebirth tomorrow for the Kill Your Completion event. 

 

My back-up is Everybody's Golf/Hot Shots International. I can tell you now...I really suck at this game. So I'm hoping with continued play I can plat it before the end of the year. My goal for the event is to plat 6 UR games. We'll see if I get close. Anyway, let the games begin! 3 points for Gryffindor!!

Yea, it wasn't too hard at all.  I think it's partially because of PS+ and partially because you need a good, coordinated group to get through bananas difficulty.  The game was a lot of fun though.

Bloomin' 'eck!! Everybody's Golf is bloody hard. I'm cream crackered and that's no lie. Might have to take a long break from the game. Replaying a course again and again, and I haven't been consistent. Might have to slide in an easy Very Rare game sometime in the near future.

I'm looking at Bound, Magicka 2 (as I need to rearrange my HDD to fit this on), Chariot, Knytt Undergound, and Vessel to start with.

I've not tried them out yet, but it looks like you have some games on your list already with UR plats that are not meant to be too difficult

• Nom Nom Galaxy
• Super Time Force Ultra

That's just to name a few.

 

Magicka 2 is great fun, but you will more than likely need to find a couple of coop partners if you want to do bananas difficulty.

Since you have so many games on your profile try using the Trophy Advisor. Just change to rarity filter to VR or UR.

It will show you all the VR or UR trophies you could earn from your profile. While it isn't perfect it can be used to see what games you could try to play for VR or UR trophies.

Okay, so I didn't come back int he evening. Was binge watching Friends from College. It seemed alright, and I could relate. But to tell you the truth, I only watched it for Fred Savage. One of my favorite child actors back in the day (The Wonder Years and The Princess Bride).

Haven't played bound before but the others have some easy UR's in them. vessel in particular is a particularly easy 100%, or so I've been told. However I found it very boring so I deleted it from my list at 0%
