This is the local sheriff here at the farm, I'm wondering how all my rabbits and carrot eaters are doing?

Nearly at the end of my L/I XCOM 2 playthrough. I have two Psi Op units with Dominate, so it's basically over already, but I still have to go through the motions. I haven't had any deaths yet, but that's mostly (entirely) because I've been backing up my saves. I guess that defeats the purpose of Ironman, but I'd argue that Legendary difficulty defeats the purpose of the game. There's no excuse for a high level soldier behind full cover with height advantage getting killed from a single hit by a low level enemy. Not to much the impossibility of hitting those stupid Archons.

Also, I didn't know you could encounter Gatekeepers in random missions. I guess I finished my first Legendary playthrough before they began appearing. Going to just skip all non-story based missions from now on. Those things could really ruin my day.

So, I used to think Hair Triggers were the most useless weapon mods. I mean, the most basic ones supposedly give a 5% chance to instantly kill an enemy, but I swear that only happens once or twice on an entire playthrough. (I suspect that's because it's only a 5% chance to perform an execution if the shot hits, and we all know THAT never happens in XCOM.) But here I was, on my Legendary Ironman playthrough, and I summoned the Avatar. First attack I chose to do was Hail of Bullets on my grenadier, because I wanted to do guaranteed damage and shred his armor...and she pulls off the first execution in the game. It's awesome seeing that when you encounter a Sectopod (think an AT-AT from Star Wars), but an Avatar (don't think of that movie...especially the Airbender one)... That was amazing.

That lifts a huge burden off my shoulder. (Or is it my chest?) Sure, it's already game over for the aliens because of my two Psi Ops units (and two Mimic Beacons... I won't use more than that because it's not even fair), but I was worried about this mission for a while. Fortunately, I waited until I had a mission with unlimited turns, so that I could pick off the jerks slowly before summoning big boss man.

Also, apparently the purple bugs are in this game too. I'm watching them rip apart my grenadier as we speak.

Sure hope I can cure that poison in time...

Well, I think I am going to change something in these updates...

First of all, no more stories.

Second, no regularity. I'll just write when I feel like or made big progress.

Last but not least, updates are not going to be clean and divided into several parts anymore.

Also, no more questions of the week bullshit. That didn't work out and was pointless.

I don't think you care that much, but here's why:
I am currently having some school-related problems and need much more time than ever. Plus, I don't feel like updating anymore. I just don't have the time to keep it all clean and fancy. Besides, I was feeling like sometimes it was my thread and not Cassylvania's. And that should not happen. My posts were on every page of the thread which I have butted into.

I am not completely withdrawing, I'll participate in discussions should there be any and say something from time to time. The list of games stays and will be preceded with a short text. That's all. Thank you for reading my past posts. Now you'll have less to read :P

How has it been going on for me? Not bad, but I've been better. I finally got my driving license, so now it's time to buy myself a car. I wonder how will I afford one.

When it comes to gaming, I've completed Horizon along with all it's DLCs. I don't know why it has so many high scores. It's average at most. I felt like I was fighting the camera and not the machines this whole time. Plus, The Frozen Wilds is not as long as it is said to be. I don't know how you could play it for 20 - 25 hours. I've done everything there was to do and it took me about 10 hours. I'm calling bullshit.

I have played some horror games. Finished Layers of Fear that was in my backlog for a long time. Played The Park - ugh, that was a bad game. I completed it in an hour and a half without using a guide and experienced some cheap jumpscares. It's not worth neither your time nor your money. Also, I started Kholat. It creates a pretty good atmosphere and is a good test for everyone considering themselves professional map users. I recommend trying this one.

@RockyJokerPL It's okay! I like your stories and updates. The only thing that I would ask is that you don't post platinum images, just because I sometimes like to scroll back through the topic and I get your platinums mixed up with mine. I don't want other people thinking I've earned platinums that I haven't. Otherwise, fill up the topic with as much text as you want! I literally haven't even earned a single trophy since Halloween.

Also, we're a pumpkin patch now!

Oh, God. I'm still dreading having to go back to that for the DLC. Um... I left some tips for the game on the PS Trophies website, if you want to take a look. I was actually considering playing that next, after I finish my XCOM 2 playthrough.

I'm also kinda on the fence about buying a Nintendo Switch next week, if I can snag a good deal somewhere.

Okay, boys and girls! It's time to get back to gaming. I've had a few weeks to kinda relax and finish up some projects around the house, so I'm ready to tackle those 39 remaining trophies...and likely screw myself over by playing a bunch of games I haven't even started.

I was THINKING of starting Horizon Zero Dawn, but I see they're coming out with a "complete" version next month. I have no clue what that version has that the standard doesn't, but look how amazing the cover is. THIS is what needs to be the end case on my shelf. At least for the foreseeable future.

So what am I to do in the meantime? Well, it just so happens the first DLC for Shantae: HGH is on sale for 50% off. And at the time of writing this, it's 50% downloaded as well. So strap on your bootstraps, ye scurvy dogs, because we are pirates once more!

The Pirate Queen's Quest is complete! As usual, it took me longer than it should've because I failed to read the trophy descriptions properly. Ended up having to get 100% twice, after thinking I didn't need it for the speedrun. Fortunately, it's a fairly short DLC. I also see they added the second DLC trophies to the game, but they haven't appeared on this site yet...

All in all, I'm going to say I had fun, but what was up with Shantae knowing way more moves than when we get to play as her? That little brat was holding back this whole time!

What else... Well, I picked up Everybody's Golf now that I'm pretty sure that trophy for getting a hole-in-one on a par 5 isn't impossible. It also doesn't look like the annoying grind that The Golf Club 2 appears to be. That's good because I'm always looking for decent sports games to play. It's hard for me to find those because there seems to be this obsession with making sports games "realistic" instead of fun. Like, if I wanted a realistic experience, I'd go outside and play. Speaking of, I sank two ~40 foot putts the last time I went out. Probably the best round of golf in my life.

And now it's snowing outside...

@Cassylvania You're so close to that 100% profile, you can almost touch it. You got this!

I saw your 100% for XCOM2 (very impressive), so I have to ask, any tips regarding squad composition for the final mission on the higher difficulties? And what did you think of the new expansion do you recommend it?

Also I think the Horizon complete edition will include the new Frozen Wilds expansion, so probably a good time to get in. Looking at that cover makes me wish I'd waited.

The Psi soldiers are pretty OP in XCom 2 and if you can raise them, it's definitely worth the investment. I believe I brought two with me on my Impossible run and didn't really have too much of a problem. I was also a fan of Rangers and Snipers and brought them too. I found the snipers especially helpful on that last level, but you can win with pretty much any of the combinations. Bring along some mimic beacons for emergency and you should be ok.

I really enjoyed the expansion personally. It added a neat wrinkle and the new soldier types were fun to play as well. I played it on the medium difficulty since there weren't any difficulty related trophies for a stress free experience, and it was still a decent challenge and a lot of fun. It is pretty pricey for what it is, but I have no regrets.

I would highly recommend Horizon Zero Dawn. I got it shortly after it came out due to all of the buzz about it and have absolutely loved it. The game play is really well done and I have been really sucked in by its story. I am a few trophies short of finishing the expansion and I have not been disappointed. Whether you start now or wait for the complete edition...it is definitely worth it.

Thank you! If you want detailed tips, I actually wrote the guide for XCOM 2 on the PS Trophies site (though the one here is really good and, I admit, I referred to it a lot more for my L/I playthrough). In short, though, I agree with everything @Br1ste said. I basically separate every XCOM 2 playthrough into three categories: early game (up until the Avatar projection completion), mid-game (once you build a Psi Lab), and late game (once you have one or two Psi Ops with Dominate). For the early game, I completely ignore the Avatar project. That gives you a couple of months to get your base built, research everything you want, and level up your troops. Once the Avatar project bar is full, I do the first story-based mission (to stop the countdown), and basically do the same thing until the Psi Lab is complete (i.e. wait for the Avatar project bar to fill up, and then immediately counter with a story-based mission). Once you reach have a Psi Op unit with Dominate (though Stasis is great too), it's game over for the aliens. Early game is the hardest, and it's most important to pull off flawless missions then. The Mimic Beacon is a game changer.

For the last mission, I'd just use one of every class and two Psi Ops (because you really should upgrade the Psi Lab immediately to allow yourself to level two units at once). For the game, though, I recommend leveling 3-4 Grenadiers, 2-3 Specialists, 2 Rangers, and 2 Sharpshooters (although one is usually enough and will likely be your highest level soldier). You want one of each in every mission, with an extra Grenadier when you get the first squad upgrade (for demolishing cover) and an extra Specialist when you get the next upgrade (for more hacking opportunities).

I absolutely loved the WotC expansion. In my opinion, it's practically XCOM 3. I did the same thing as @Br1ste and played on Veteran because Rookie would have been way too easy, but it's like every change they made to the game was for the better...which is remarkable, considering XCOM 2 was already one of the best games I've ever played.

I wouldn't recommend starting on WotC, though. Or any of the DLCs, really. Or Legendary. Or Ironman. Or...you know what, you can pretty much start anywhere. Part of the fun of the series is learning how to adapt.

Last golf game I played was on the PS2, too slow paced. I enjoy playing WWE, and NHL games from time-to-time. Wish there were more sport games with arcade style power-ups.

Yeah, I'm looking for a new sports game on the PS store... Every now and then, I get this strange itch for something competitive, but then I always get turned off when I see the multiplayer trophies. It sure would be nice to play something that doesn't involve an annoying grind or shaky online servers Maybe Steep? Oh, wait. MUST BE ONLINE TO PLAY. Yeah, that's real great. A game that will be permanently dead someday. We already know I'm not touching Madden or NBA2k or FIFA or or NHL for that same reason.

Also, I'd like you all to avoid Spy Chameleon. Or at least avoid being around me while I'm playing it. It is the most single most aggravating game I've ever played. I don't know why I started it, I don't know why I continue to play it, but OMG DOES IT MAKE ME WANT TO THROW THINGS ACROSS MY ROOM.

LIZARDS ARE THE WORST.

Honestly, Ava, it was stupid, it probably took a hundred attempts, and it certainly wasn't worth it. If I could remove any game from my account, it would be this one.

XCOM 2 was already one of the best games I've ever played.

I wholeheartedly agree on this point. The only thing I hated was the load times when it first came out. I didn't notice them being as bad with the expansion, but I could literally watch a half inning of the world series last year while a map was loading. I'm really surprised this game isn't more popular considering how great the game play is.

I think the expansion is more like an alternate universe version of XCom 2 than an XCom 3 since it runs off the same main story line, but I agree with your overall point that there is enough new stuff to it that it feels like a whole new game.

@Br1ste The load times have ALWAYS been my biggest gripe with XCOM 2. I try to make lemonade out of it, though. I figure if the load times were faster, I'd be more inclined to abuse previous saves, so they help me to resist that temptation...? Either that or I go in the kitchen and make a sandwich.

I've sure made a lot of sandwiches playing XCOM...

Okay, Chameleon Boy. You and me, one last time. I just need that shitty 18 minute trophy and I can delete this awful game from my system forever. Like, as if it wasn't enough to have individual time trials, the game needs to have a TOTAL time trial? Why not just make the time trials harder!? Wait, I have a better idea. HAVE BETTER HIT DETECTION.

Fun fact: did you know, unlike most lizards, chameleons canNOT grow their tails back? Don't ask me how I know that. Ha. Haha. AHAHAHAHAHA.

Congrats on the platinum! I'm the same way with the load times :) Part of the reason I like turn based strategy games is the ability to multi task while playing them. My PS4 is setup next to my PC so I often have a movie running or some sort of TV show on. Or in this case last year, the world series.

My original passion in games was the Final Fantasy series. I was hooked after playing the original on NES and then bought my gaming systems based on which one was continuing the series. I just started FFIX last night after completing the 100% for Horizon Zero Dawn. That's the last Final Fantasy plat I need for the whole series that is released to date. I'm going to attempt to get the stupid jump roping trophies out of the way first...it'll probably take most of the day if I can even do it.

My biggest gripe with the FF series and their trophies is the damn mini-games they have attached to them. A lot of the times they are luck based and it's up to the RNG Gods whether or not you get them. I have the chocobo racing one from FFX in my trophy cabinet simply because it took me like 12 hours to get and I was so relieved to be done with it.

Everybody's Golf, of course! I mean, I don't know if I'll play this one straight through to platinum. I'll probably just play it every now and then until I can figure out which major game I want to tackle next. I'd LIKE to finish one of the big three (Arkham Knight, Darkest Dungeon, or RER) to get them off my list for good, but they're all so tough...

I definitely need this golf game.

Oh, hey guys! If you have any ideas of what else I should add to the first post, let me know. I was trying to think of some more questions that people might want answered about me or the games I play, but I'm not very good at coming up with ideas. Maybe I'll put together a banner too or something...

Also, NO, that dumb chameleon game is not getting the purple carrot award. Was it hard? Yes. Was it frustrating? Yes. Would I consider it as hard and frustrating as some of the other games I've given the award to? Yes, BUT IT DOESN'T DESERVE THAT RECOGNITION.

Get outta here, chameleon!
