yup, mine was Shadow of Memories, but seeing folks mention Crisis Core, or Azure Dreams or Murdered: Soul Suspect is always interesting, and I reckon gives a much more clear window into their personality than the usual, obvious choices.

Now when I look at it, my top 10 is basically JRPGs, lol. So I guess if anyone asks for my top 10 favorite JRPGs, I can just give them the first 10 games on my top 20 list. Besides the SMT series, I limited the other games to one game per series... or else my list would've been flooded with Mario, Zelda and MGS games.

You're so right about it being the best JRPG of the generation, I'm such a sucker for those traditional gameplay mechanics. I was thinking about it recently and on a personal level I did enjoy Final Fantasy 13-2, but that game still had its issues. In my estimation, aside from Tales of Vesperia nothing even got close to Lost Odyssey.

I'm only taking results from people that list their top 20 games and not top 20 game series since that will require a separate list entirely. I'm still collecting everybody's data but I'll wait for a few days to gather more information from forum members before posting the results.

Again like most no particular order but i guess the ones i put on top spring to mind as the best, the rest would be games i had to think about by looking at my lists

 

Top of my list must be

 

* the binding of Isaac - brilliant game which i think i have more than 300 hours on 

 

* enter the gungeon 

 

* the last of us - story, gameplay, graphics and multiplayer are all brilliant 

 

* super mario 3 - nes

 

* transformers wfc - great co op action 

 

* spec ops - the line - best story in war games ever, and a tough challenge

 

* digger/digger hd - a game of skill i grew up with on pc and was still brilliant on ps3

 

* portal 2 - awesome humor, great puzzles and very good co op action

 

* ultima iv - sega master system RPG 

 

* the walking dead (season 1 telltale) i teared twice at the end at each platform plat

 

* El shaddai - this game is a work of art! Fun to learn, hard to master 

 

* god of war 3 - best hack n slash game i played

 

* GTA San Andreas PS2 version 100%ed it without trophies

 

* Dune 2 - best strategy game i played on pc (command and conquer worth a mention here too)

 

* heavy rain 

 

* borderlands - claptrap need i say more

 

* littlebigplanet - a game for all ages

 

* dead nation - very atmospheric very intense

 

* NBA JAM/NBA HANGTIME - best arcade sportsgame ever made

 

* southpark the stick of truth - this game made me lol for real so many times, very well written

I finally have everybody's votes and am in the process of drawing up a table. There is a LOT of data to process so it will take me a few days or a week to finalise the results. Anyway, here are a few facts about the results that you might find interesting while you wait on the table.

 

1. There were 69 forum members that cast their votes for the top 20 games of all time.
2. Over 600 games made it onto the list of all time greatest (634 games to be exact). These games vary in genre, years released and the consoles that they were released on but they all have one thing in common - they all had a huge impact on your life and gaming careers.
3. I think it is quite obvious which game is considered the greatest of all time by you guys. In fact, the game in first place has almost twice the amount of votes as the game in second place. How's that for a landslide victory?

As I said, it will take me a while to draw up the table. In the meantime, continue voting as the more data we have the more accurate the final table will be.

 

By the way, I will post the results in this thread but I was thinking - should I create another thread with the results as well. That way people can discuss the results in that thread while continuing to cast their votes in this thread. I don't want to derail the topic.

Well here it is - the final table. Just a couple of things to note about the results:

 

• I only counted the votes for individual games. If you said that X game series was your favourite then I did not count it. Series can range from only 2 games to over 20 games so this kind of discrepancy wasn't fair for people who only voted for one game each in their top 20.
• If a game isn't listed then just assume it received less than 4 votes and didn't make the final table.
• I'm hoping the table is accurate. I know certain games receive different titles depending on the region it is released (e.g. Dark Cloud 2 is called Dark Chronicle depending on where you live). I tried my best to count these votes as one game but I'm not familiar with every game out there so something may have slipped through.

I guess I should of assumed the top two spots were always going to fall the way they did, especially on a PlayStation site.

The interest lies with stuff like Persona 4 being the highest JRPG and also Final Fantasy X polling highest for that particular series, didn't see either of those coming. Pretty modern top ten as well, nothing pre- PS2.
