History:

In 1972, by Senate Joint Resolution 117, Congress requested the President to declare the fourth Saturday of September 1972 as National Hunting and Fishing Day. On May 2 of the same year, President Richard Nixon signed proclamation 4128 designating the Fourth Saturday in September National Hunting and Fishing Day.

 

Event:

Therefore, we, as gamers are going to do what we do best and "hunt" (you can fish for trophies if you want, I don't care) and try to earn as many trophies on this day as humanly possible on September, 23rd 2017 (12 AM - 11:59 PM US ET) as a community! I am going to set up goals for us as a community and the more trophies we earn as a community, the more $20 PSN cards I will hand out via random drawings!

 

Goal:

So, what the endgame here? Ah, it's quite simply really. Starting at 100 trophies earned as a collective group, for every zero we add on to the end of the total amount by everyone, I will give out an additional U.S. PSN card. You can decide whether or not you want to be in the drawing at the end, but your trophies will be included in the total. Confused on how this is going to work? Good! Lets take a look!

 

100 trophies total = 1 PSN card

1000 trophies total = 2 PSN cards

10,000 trophies total = 3 PSN cards

100,000 trophies total = 4 PSN cards

1,000,000 trophies total (Holy F%^$!) = 5 PSN cards.

 

FAQ (Frequently asked questions):

Q: How do I sign up and by when is the sign up deadline?

A: Vote in the poll. That's it! You must vote before the beginning of the event! If you are interested in helping me count trophies, vote yes in the second question. I won't judge you if you don't want to, but the more volunteers we have, the quicker the results! If I have too many volunteers (haha). I'll judge how many I need based on the number of participants so I can avoid the scenario where I get 157 PMs with totals in 24 hours! I may have a separate raffle depending on how many people participate in the event. Even if you are not needed to count, but voted yes, you'll be included in the drawing. This is more about the volunteering than the free PSN card, if you don't see it this way, you may want to change your answer.

 

Q: Who is eligible for the drawings?

A: This is where it gets a little tricky. I'm not simply letting everyone be eligible for the drawing to avoid alt-accounts or anything of the like. Therefore, you must have been a member on this site before 9/1/2017 to be in the drawing. That's it. No post requirement is necessary. Though, if you have multiple accounts, please only use one account in the event to make this as fair as possible and so the number isn't inflated! Also, if you are caught of cheating/hacking any trophies during the event, you'll automatically be disqualified and all trophies will not count towards the total!

 

Q: Do I still get to participate in the drawing even if I don't earn a trophy?

A: No, you must earn at least one trophy to be in the main drawing. If I draw your name and you did not earn a trophy, you will not receive the prize. However, you could still be elligible if you help count trophies (Again, this depends on how many participants we have total, I'm not going to have a separate raffle for this if I only have a handful of members participate and only need a couple of volunteers from the pool of people who voted yes to the second question).

 

Q: Do stacks, cross-saves, duplicate trophy lists, etc. count?

A: As long as they are earned legit, you can have as many sound shape plats as you want in this thing!

 

Q:How long will it take to count the trophies and learn who won the prizes (and how many were distributed)?

A: Depends on the number of volunteers I get to count trophies and the number of people who sign up. I'll send each volunteer a list of names to count. via PMs Once, each person reports back with each person's PSN ID and the # of trophies (total), I'll create a spreadsheet of everyone's trophies and let everyone know of the totals. If I don't hear back in a week or 2 from the person, I will count them myself during the following weekend. Therefore, it could take up to 2-3 weeks to figure the results depending on the speed of the team... so let's say HOPEFULLY October 28th at the latest. If you feel like that's too long, or for some reason we are overwhelmed, then send me a PM to help me out. I am open for as much help as is willing to be offered. If someone is being a slacker, and you want to count MORE trophies because you are bored at work, school, etc. or think you'll have time to count EVERYONE's trophies... have at it. You can fill in the blanks that I am missing from other people. If you follow the topic, I will post here with updates on everything to keep everyone updated!

 

Q: Do I get anything if I get the most trophies?

A: Yes, of course! The top 10 trophy hunters will be put into the OP as the "Top Hunters" for the event. In terms of monetary value, you get nothing for earning the most trophies. Sorry, folks. I do not want this to be an elitist sort of event, but instead as a community event where we all work towards a designated goal! This section is just to satisfy those competitive spirits, but it means nothing.

 

Q: What if I win a PSN card, and it doesn't work? Do I get another code?

A: HAHA! Nice try. No.

 

Q: How quickly do I need to sync the trophies for them to be in the count? Will you do a recount if it's not in time?

A: I'll give you one week to sync your trophies before I send out messages to people to start help counting. If you cannot sync them in that timespan. LET ME KNOW AHEAD OF TIME. This is important if you want your trophies to count. I won't do a recount if you can't let me know in a timely fashion.

Q: I earned the most trophies; where is my PSN card, you cheap @$$?

A: BEGONE TROLL!!!

 

Q: I PM-ed you like 40 times about this event, why have you not responded!?!?

A: Stop being so annoying and maybe I'll respond. I have a full-time professional job that requires me to work 40+ hours a week and am a part-time student at college so I am busy on the weekends as well. Be patient.

 

Q: I earned like 6 trophies in this event... Am I winning?

A: You are always a winner in my eyes. ;)

 

Q: I didn't win a PSN Card! This S*&^ is rigged!!!

A: That's not a question. That's actually a (false) declarative statement.

 

Q: Who's team am I on? I don't get this!

A: TEAM PSNP (Always). 

 

Q: You have the total count as 7642, but I counted myself and got 7701. Can you request a recount or update the number?

A: That's a hard NO. the amount won't be 100% accurate as this is done manually so it is prone to errors. You probably counted wrong as well.

Number of participants: 60

Average number of trophies earned per participant: 20.25

Standard Deviation: 28.09 - FYI for those who don't know, for this event, that is REALLY REALLY high. This means that the number of trophies were very volatile and that there was a lot of people who earned a ton of trophies and a lot of people who didn't earn any at all!

The below screenshots are proof that I did this with absolutely no bias or ill-intent. In the first 2 screenshots I accidentally left myself and the non-drawers in there and took them out of GTA_Darren's drawings. I saw no harm in this as none of the non-drawers were selected and this would be unfair to the winners. I have absolutely no idea who these individuals are and I would like everyone to celebrate this awesome event with me as it comes to a close. Once again, let me thank everyone for participating in my first hosted event, and I hope you enjoyed the event as much as I did!

Sounds fun but I have to see if I am doing something that day.

 

My Aunt that passed away this year would have turned 60 on the 26th. I (and some of my family) would still like to hold her birthday for her as a final goodbye. So that is either on the Sat or the Sun. of that weekend. If it isn't Saturday I will be down though :)

About 2 weeks to sign up! 

 

I'm hoping for more people to join us to add to the count. Remember, more trophies mean more PSN cards to give away, which helps with more participants.

 

Though, less people means better odds of getting drawn assuming we at least make the 100 trophies mark (expecting a few to earn at least 30 to 40 trophies)... You just have to maximize the number of trophies earned per person.

I'm actually trying to decide what games I should play this day. I don't really have any quick games in the backlog, but I do have some where trophies can be earned 5 minutes in and a few with short campaigns. Should I kill my completion earning as many as I can in a bunch of games or do I diligently play through one game and get a handful of trophies? Decisions. Decisions.

That's what I'm gonna have to try and decide as well. I know I've got a few games that are really quick that I haven't had a good reason to play (like Steins;Gate Darling of Loving Vows and The Walking Dead S2), but I don't know if I just want to mash through them to get the quick trophies. I'll probably end up just killing my completion with games that have been sitting on my shelf forever, to force myself to finish them up later, haha.
