Popular Post ddracarys
Hey all, recently went for this 100% again on this new account and realized something that made the Shotgun Challenge grind / a lot of other combat related Challenges extremely easier. Just an apologies in advanced if this has already been mentioned however. For this to work you're gonna need the Side Quest 'Guardian Hunter' still active. 'Guardian Hunter' tasks you to capture the elemental types of the Eridian Guradian's after you've dealt quite a bit of damage on them, a tip to Pokemon of course. The Quest's current objective will automatically start again if you fail, and the only way you can fail is if you damage the Guradian too much by accidentally killing it. I'm sure you can already see where this is going. The Guardian's will always respawn at the same place after death, so why not use that infinite, definite spawn of enemies to your own advantage? Go ahead and "accidentally" kill some Guardians for your Challenges! I was able to finish the 'Open Wide!' Shotgun grind in 10 minutes, just by standing at the spawn and firing. You don't even need to wait for the Guardian's to properly spawn, just fire your Shotgun away and it will count towards the Challenge. The Shotgun Challenge isn't the only one you can grind here, I also did my SMG, Assault Rifle, Sniper, RPG and Melee Challenges here. It's insanely fast and easy to grind out your Challenges here. This method can also be used to grind Moonstones, XP, money, gear and pretty much anything else you may need. That's pretty much it, wish I knew this on my previous account as these took me way longer doing normally haha. I hope this also saves some of your guy's time too. This isn't really important but I personally recommend a Hyperion Shotgun for the 'Open Wide!' Challenge as they have very high stability, making shots more accurate.

I've seen several sources say you should be level 50 to attempt it, but surely it's doable at lower levels too?

I was actually already Level 70, but by the time you reach this Side Quest you should be high enough to tackle this Quest no problem. Why do you ask? Why do you ask? Just wondering whether I should do some XP farming during this mission before I start TVHM, but I guess the XP awarded during vanilla mode wouldn't be much? Also, running out of ammo would be a concern.

I'm not sure if there are other, faster ways to grind XP (I haven't bothered checking myself), but as far as I know grinding XP through the Guardian Hunters Side Quest on Normal Mode can get you to level 50 in about an hour or two. As I've already mentioned several times, I completed the entire 'Open Wide!' Shotgun challenge (750 point-blank kills) without ever running out of ammo. The Guardian's drop a surplus of supplies for you, so you shouldn't need to worry about ever running out of ammo. If you have any more questions feel free to ask and I'll try answering as soon as I can. Good luck with the grind!
EternalChaos72
This is a good method and all, but you run out of ammo far too quickly, then you have to go to the top of the map to restock. Wish there as another way.
