53,596?

Anyone know if the number for the Trail of Corpses trophy has a specific meaning? Or did they just randomly pick it? I've tried to find out, but there's not much out there about it. Just seems a really strange amount.

I was curious about this a while ago as well, but it seems to have started with Dead Rising as I can find no link to 'Dawn of the Dead' as some people seem to be suggesting that it is the population of the town in that movie. I've seen that movie 4 or 5 times and I don't remember the reference.

 

From the Dead Rising Wikia:

 

"The population of Willamette, Colorado is 53,594. Therefore, if Frank kills this many zombies, he has killed the entire population of Willamette."

 

I suppose they used the number as a nod to that game.

There's been a few games that have done that now, including a dodonpachi one as a reference to dead rising

If I remember correctly it is the Population of the city in Dead Rising is 53,594. Then Left 4 Dead put out an achievement of 53,595 just as a joke to up them. Then prototype jumped in on the fun and upped them by 1

Adding my two cents, Rock Band 3 has a trophy for hitting 53,596 hammer-ons and pull-offs. HOPO-Cidal maniac, I believe it is called.
