fadingtrails
Hello everyone, When buying games online I come across trophy sellers at times. It bothers me because it's a dishonest practice that devalues trophy hunting. Does anyone know if Sony will ban a seller, or even a buyer that's reported? Is the act of selling/buying trophies itself in violation of Sony's terms of service? At any rate there's no suitable option when reporting people; it's all about in-game behavior. Thanks Edited October 7, 2017 by fadingtrails

skateak
To be fair, absolutely nothing. Even if it was in the ToS, I doubt Sony could care less.
Popular Post Kristycism
Quote you must not: (i) share, sell, buy, transfer, rent or sublicense all or part of an Account (including Accounts of Child Family Members), an Online ID or any other Account credentials; ^ From their ToS. Technically by trophy purchasing they'd be breaking the above term. But like others have said, I highly doubt they'd actually do anything about it. I mean, I don't understand why people do it, but it doesn't take anything away from me or any trophies I've achieved by myself, so I'm not really sure why people have an issue with it. Except where it's at the top of the leaderboard where honest people also compete for the top spots - then I could understand why it'd irritate others that were up there, competing against someone who can just buy their way in front. But outside of those people it doesn't affect yours or my enjoyment of playing games and earning trophies.
Feral
If really bothers you, report them to Sony. Otherwise just don't worry about them.

Evil_Joker88
It is against Sony's law because you have to give your login to someone else... and yeah i do very much to get some trophies easy as possible like boosting every mp trophy i wanna have but buying trophies? No way ... i choose lifetime over money to achieve trophies ... besides there are only few people i'd trust with my login and not a total stranger even if he says he wouldn't abuse my info nor talk about it to anybody else (i saw this in one actual offer.... and 20€ for games like My Name is Mayo, Mr. Massagy etc. is way too much i think )

Thanks I completely agree with you. I really wish something could be done. However, as was mentioned earlier, Sony couldn't care less. Maybe, one day, they will see fit to enforce their own ToS. One can dream, right? . . .

It is a shady activity, cause most of these people hack the trophies and get paid for it. His point is that there's nothing that can be done. Sony certainly won't be doing anything so just accept that these people will continue to do this and move on. I don't agree with him but I think that was the crux of his statement.
fadingtrails
Thanks for the replies, everyone. Not the rude guy, though. Despite cheapening trophies for us all, people are also not buying the games they get trophies for. Trophy sellers are corrupting our hobby and making a lot of money doing it. I'm not sure why the people who are indifferent to this would bother with legitimate trophy hunting. Maybe people are more unwilling than unable to do something about this. If enough people cared, it could be brought to Sony's attention. It hurts their business after all. To me , it doesn't affect me one bit , i like to gaming on my own and achieving my trophies the legit and normal way . Buying trophies defeats the purpose of them , which is doing certain tasks , objectives or actions in order to really achieve and properly saying you earned them . Martinhopp
You can report cheaters on this site, and have them removed, probably the only active thing you can do. My guess is people buy/hack trophies to gain higher ranks on sites like these, if you remove them from these sites, the incentive/bragging rights are gone.
starcrunch061
Honestly, the biggest annoyance for me here is the virtual homeless, who go around begging people to get trophies. I've never had anyone offer to sell me a trophy. If s/he did, my old man instincts would kick in and I'd probably beat him with my cane, shouting, "Poppycock! Balderdash!"
HellcoreFire
Not taking this too seriously, it's just a hobby. By that I mean both the buyers and the complainers. Live and let live.

AndresLionheart
Its as much a stupid way of earning platinums as buying shitty, easy games for easy trophies. So, I don't care, trophies have been extremelly devalued already. Just enjoy what you enjoy.
audiopile
It took Sony 2 weeks to remove the dickpics from the psnp communities page so I don’t see them taking any action on this subject. They would have done something about it by now if they cared. It still amazes me that people care so much about other people’s trophy list and how they got the trophies. Why does it matter?
DisturbedIsMe
The buyers should be drop kicked. on a side note though... I wouldn't even wanna imagine the price of some platinum trophies out there. Ex.) Super Meat Boy, White Knight Chronicles, or Dragon Fin Soup...
StrickenBiged
I reported a trophy seller advertising profiles with 100+ platinums on this site's PlayStation Community (y'know, those things on the PS4 social dashboard thing). I got a message from Sony a few days later saying that "appropriate action" had been taken. I don't know what they did, but the person's messages had been deleted from the community wall at that point.
