Popular Post Wavergray
Hello and welcome to the first of the new PSNP Interviews. Our first interviewee is Wdog-999. Stock Questions. 1. How did you come up with your PSN name? It wouldn't really be fair to say that I came up with it so much as my mom did when I wanted to sign up for Nick.com or something when I was about 7 or 8. I'm not sure there's really much meaning behind the name other than the W standing for my name in real life since I hate dogs and 999 didn't really mean anything to my knowledge before it became a Zero Escape reference. The only other thing I can really explain is the dash between the name and the number. That was a new addition when I came into PSN since I technically already have an account named Wdog999 that I used back when I had my first PSP, but since I have zero idea what the password is because I used that account maybe twice in my life just to browse the PS Store, I had to make a new account. Since my old name was taken, but I didn't feel like coming up with anything else (it was Christmas day and I really wanted to play my new system), I just added a dash because it looked cool and called it a day. Can't say I regret it. 2. What games convinced you get your PlayStation 3, Playstation Vita, and/or PlayStation 4? It wasn't really a game per say that brought me to the systems so much as it was the trophy system, at least for Vita and PS4. The idea of earning trophies on the go appealed to me greatly, so naturally, I was excited as hell about the Vita when it was announced to have trophy support, and I traded in my first PSP along with all the games on it just to get it myself. The PS4 is considerably less exciting of a story because I pretty much got it because Sony was keeping me happy so far and I knew I would get left behind eventually by just sticking to the PS3. As far as the PS3 that got me here in the first place, that was actually a complete surprise from my parents, who got it for me because they knew I was big into anime and bullet hell at the time and they figured that PS3 would be a better console for me than the 360 I had at the time because it was actually region-free. 3. What are your top 5 game series and why? In no particular order... Super Monkey Ball: because rolling a monkey around the board and trying to get him or her to the goal is fun as hell, and while it's not quite as amazing now as it was when it started (though to be fair, it hasn't had new entries since 2012 or so), it's still fun to play. I still need to get to Banana Splitz. >_> Hyperdimension Neptunia: (no shit, really? ). While I'll admit that they aren't the best games out there, it's the only real fandom I've ever been in and seeing the games get better and better in noticeable ways over time is something really nice to see. I will also admit that I do like the character designs quite a lot. I've also noticed that it's a lot easier for me to get into a Neptunia game than it is for me to get into similar games, even from the same developers, likely due to how familiar it all feels from an aesthetic standpoint and the fact that I just feel at ease when I play a Neptunia game. Even going back to the very first game recently, which is known for being a piece of shit, is oddly calming and addictive even though I can't help but agree with those claims. Project Diva: I do love me a good music game, and I also like Vocaloid, so when you combine the two together, it makes for a series I like quite a lot. It helps that this is the series that got me into non-plastic-instrument rhythm games in the first place, allowing me to fall in love with the genre in a deeper way after GH and RB basically fell out. Steins;Gate: The two games we've got here are a duo of fucking amazing stories and I recommend that anyone who doesn't mind reading checks them out. S;G0 isn't quite as amazing as the original, but it is still very much a worthy ride that had me engrossed for the three days it took me to read it. Energy. :As a trophy whore, seeing a company not only make a shitload of stacks for their easy games, but even do absolutely nothing to patch out a glitch from one of them that makes it piss easy instead of reasonably difficult truly warms my heart. Sonic: albeit in a weird way. I may not be all that good at the games or even play them that much, but seeing how the franchise has evolved and devolved over time is certainly fascinating. I did also love the series as a kid, though I lost interest in the games themselves as I moved into the seventh generation of consoles. The Twitter account is also amazing in a memey kind of way. 4. What are your top 5 games and why? In no particular order... DJMAX Technika Tune: One of the best rhythm games I've played so far. It's easy enough to get into, with a nice application of touch controls and one of the only good uses I have ever seen for that stupid rear touch pad on the Vita, but it's also hard to master as the difficulty ramps up. Super Monkey Ball 2: While both this and the first one were amazing games, this is the one that really sucked me in. Going through the Story mode and trying to beat the levels over and over again was a blast even when things got frustrating as hell. The feeling of accomplishment I would get after beating a particularly tough level was absolute bliss as well. Dungeon Travelers 2: The game that introduced me to DRPGs and one of the best, if not the best RPG I have played yet. While the game is certainly difficult, it always felt fair and even when some grinding was recommended, it wasn't even that bad, stupid 20k enemy kill trophy aside. The ability to form your characters more or less how you wanted to and even to reset their skills at no penalty after reaching a certain level also made it feel a lot more fun than I ever thought it would be when I went into it. NieR Automata: The story and OST for this one were on point, and even playing on Easy with the autochips (I have become as scrub ), the gameplay was a blast as well. Definitely a contender for best RPG I've played. Corpse Party: Blood Drive (Korean): lol debug menu Steins;Gate: As mentioned earlier, this was definitely the stronger of the two S;G stories to me. I was glued to it the whole time I read it and it left me incredibly impressed. Even going back and watching the anime adaptation with my parents (very good adaptation by the way, and well worth watching even if you found the visual novel a bit slow for your taste), the story still held up wonderfully. Yes, not a single Neptunia game in my list. Sue me. 5. Top 5 TV shows whether they be animated or live-action, why, and would you recommend them to people? In no particular order... Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood: A brilliant story of two brothers who are trying to get their original bodies back after one lost an arm and a leg and the other lost all but his soul after trying to bring their dead mother back with alchemy. Both series are great, but Brotherhood is generally considered the better of the two, so I recommend watching that. That, and it's harder to find the first series legally since while Brotherhood is on Crunchyroll, the 2003 series isn't. Gravity Falls: Not only does this one have some great wit, but it also has an interesting story and it even had the balls to end on its own terms despite the usual norm for American shows to go on as long as possible, which I can definitely respect. Even though it's a kid's show, I definitely recommend giving it a go. It has a fanbase for a reason. Rick and Morty: Sauce controversy and shitty copypasta aside, this is a well-done adult animation series and I enjoy watching it immensely. It can get gory at times and it does have some vulgar humor, but I recommend it to anyone who appreciates some well-done humor and well-written characters. Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju: Despite having a premise that sounds boring as hell (it's about the life of a rakugo performer), this series actually manages to be a damn well done drama that had me invested for both seasons. Also, the opening themes are fucking amazing. I definitely recommend giving it a go. It is surprising just how good the series is. The only caveat is that it has no English dub to my knowledge, so it may be hard to get into if you can't watch with subtitles alone for whatever reason. Fate/Zero: The series that got me into the Fate series (if only the main stuff, not the spinoff stuff like Grand Order). It's an incredibly well written series that has some amazing animation to back it up. Definitely recommended to anyone who likes a great story with some great action. 6. Top 5 favorite music bands/group/artist? This really isn't a question I can reliably answer just because my actual tastes change so damn much that it's hard to really pin anything down. Whenever I end up liking some song, I end up playing it on repeat to the point that it gets hard later to bother going back because the magic is just gone and I can't really get the same feeling that made me love the song so much in the first place. Sorry if it's a disappointing answer, but I can't really answer this as intended truthfully. 7. Your favorite platinum? My favorite platinum so far would likely be DJMAX Technika Tune. It's a damn good music game and while the grind was long at 1000 songs, it was never boring because I always wanted to get better and better at the game and beat my high scores. It's also considered decently difficult, which is definitely different from most of the plats on my account. If there was a runner up, I would have to say Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax Ignition. The plat is technically a 3/10, and generally, the vast majority of the trophy list is a joke. That said, there was one combo trophy I had a lot of trouble with: Kirito's 100-hit combo. The trophy is technically supposed to be easy, but anyone who knows me knows damn well that I have the fighting game skills of a greased-up pig lit on fire. Cue 6 or so hours of attempting the same combo over and over again until I finally got the timing down and saw the hit counter reach 100 for that final trophy along with the plat, followed by cheering from myself. It's an experience I will definitely not forget any time soon. 8. Your least favorite platinum? My least favorite platinum honestly has to be, and this is a shocker, Hyperdimension Neptunia, specifically the Japanese version. Not only was grinding out every sidequest an exercise in tedium, but then it turned out that I missed a monster in one of the last dungeons of the game, so I had to do another run of the game which was insanely boring. Also keep in mind that this was before Google Translate had that feature where you could translate words in a picture, so I had to rely on wikis for a source to translate words from for the English guides. There is a reason I do not look forward to doing the Korean version of this game, though I can at least directly translate from photos now. 9. Have you ever been tempted to switch over to the Xbox/Nintendo/PC gaming ecosystems? I'll admit that I have tried to dabble in those realms a few times, but alas, the pull of the trophy system is just too tight for me to stick around for long or buy much for those systems. That said, when/if the Vita dies out and Sony decides not to make another handheld, I may go to Nintendo for handheld games down the line. 10. If you could have one game from any gaming generation be remade or rereleased what would it be? SUPER MONKEY BALL! And not the stuff from Banana Blitz onwards, I mean the first two games. Those games were the shit when I was a kid and having them on PS4 with trophy support would be a dream. Given it's Sega, it would probably have no plat because they are dicks about that for no reason, but just like people looked past Sonic Mania's lack of a plat out of sheer hype, so too would I look past a hypothetical lack of a plat for a SMB rerelease or even remake. 11. How far are you willing to go for a platinum? It really depends on how much fun I'm having with the game, whether the issue is a grind or actual difficulty, and if it's a Nep game or not. If I'm having fun with the game, then I'll be more receptive to putting in the time and effort for the plat, and if it's a grind that I can reliably make progress in, that will definitely appeal more than something difficult that I could go hours with no progress in. And of course, I will always go for a Nep plat even if it made me crawl through acid while roaches infest my skin. Community Questions 1. What's your favourite pokémon and why? by @Dragon-Archon Haven't really played Pokemon since Diamond and Pearl, but I guess I'll say Charizard because it's a dragon (kind of) and it looks cool and I wanna make you happy because spreading happiness is good. 2. What does the "W" stand for? by @Beyondthegrave07 It stands for my name, Walt. This must be awkward for you, seeing your question so easily answered. 3. What is your favorite type of dog? by @Beyondthegrave07 None. Despite my name, I hate dogs. Sue me. 4. What's the earliest memory you have? by @Lucky Falling off a table while dancing around Age 1. 5. What's the first game you played? by @Lucky The first game I played was some Winnie the Pooh educational game. My parents were invested in me a lot, so they made sure to teach me all my basic knowledge as soon as I could understand it, and they used those games as a reinforcement. I remember having fun with them back then, though I imagine it'd be pretty boring now. 6. Out of the games on your PSN, which is your least favorite and why? by @Lucky Life of Black Tiger. Had to do it twice because I managed to glitch myself out of a trophy by doing the required mission in Mission mode instead of Story mode, which progressed the story to the next mission without my trophy. Also, the gameplay is absolute trash. You basically circle around and swipe at things, and some of the later enemies have a frankly ridiculous amount of health, so you will be doing this for several minutes before the enemy will finally just die. It's an easy 100%, but it is debatable whether it is worth it or not. 7. Why do you play games such as "1000 Top Rated" and "Aabs Animals?" by @B1rvine It's a quick way to keep up on trophy leaderboards and boost my count for competitions and stuff. That and I enjoy getting my trophy count up. 8. How do you feel about the changes of the website since you first joined? by @Xxleonardo97xX Honestly, while the new forum interface on mobile is nice and all, I do miss being able to just have a list of threads with new posts. Now it's mixed in with a bunch of status updates and now I mainly hang out in Community Events because of that. 9. Did you think Kingsman 2 was as good as Kingsman 1? by @Super-Fly Spider-Guy I have seen neither of those, so I am just going to go ahead and say yes because it will make you happy and spreading happiness is good. 10. With the amount of platinums that you have, and still growing, what was your most challenging game that you have platinumed? by @GarciaFever The most challenging game I have platinumed would likely be Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax Ignition. It's super easy for the most part, but the Kirito 100-hit combo took me far longer than it should have. Kinda surprised I kept going and going considering it took me 6 hours to finally get the combo. And yet I plan to use Arcana Heart 3 for Weeblympics. 11. If you had to kill off one of the main characters from the Nep games, who would it be and why? by @Mesopithecus This is easy. Plutia. She may be adorable in her human form, but in her HDD form, he is a sadist who tortures her friends. I'm not gonna argue over whether or not she went as far as some people have suggested she has, but she does do shit to people that leaves them traumatized and doesn't feel bad about it except for the one time that she accidentally scarred a child who saw her actions. Say what you will about the other main CPUs, but that's some low shit right there. Also, can you imagine the freakout that some people would have over it? That would be worth it alone. 12. Do you partake in fan gainz (the earning of trophies with a household fan) like @HcG Clawz? by @Kent10201 Yes. While it's not useful for everything, it does help out a lot with tedium such as the hundreds of songs I had to "sing" for those mad Singstar stacks. 13. Ever play a game that made you need to take a break from trophies? by @ERICVOLTAGE No, though I have come close a few times on some longer trophy trash streaks. 14. If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be? by @damon8r351 A baobab. They apparently live for a ridiculously long time. 15. Is there a game you played in the past that you feel either cemented your love of gaming, or perhaps redefined how you feel about the medium in general? by @DrBloodmoney Project Diva. At the time, GH and RB were fading due to release spam on the part of the former series and there weren't really any othr rhythm games here in the US that weren't just karaoke games, which I hate. Then I decided to import Project Diva f for my Vita and I fell in love with it. There was something incredibly fun about hitting the buttons to the beat and learning the songs, and ever since, I have taken rhythm games as my pet genre. 16. With over 400 plats, what is/are your most memorable game/s? by @Edunstar84 DJMAX Technika Tune. I loved playing that game while grinding it out for the plat, and even now, I still remember it fondly. 17. What would you do if Neptune turned out to be like Astolfo? by @Shana Alter If Neptune turned out to be a character in the extended Fate universe, I would probably have to start watching the new Fate stuff eventually. Got a lot to go through though since I've only seen Zero and UBW so far. 18. If Neptune turned out to be a trap, would you still go through with it? by @HcG Clawz Assuming Neptune turned out to be a guy, I will admit that it would be awkward as hell, especially if I figured out at some point during a romantic relationship, which I assume is what you mean. As much as I love Neptune, I am simply not into penises, even if they are attached to someone who is very feminine or is actually a woman. I would have to explain the situation to Neptune and just hope that Neptune would understand. I would also have to take a blood oath to never disclose this as the Neptunia fanbase would Jojo's pose and screech at IF and CH endlessly if they learned that their precious waifu was a man and was therefore "tainting the garden." Then again, they would be doing that anyway if I were in Neptunia and having a relationship with Neptune, so eh. 19. I would like a two 500 word essays about why Nep is the best series of all time and why you would play every version of every single game. Times New Roman, size 12 font, double spaced and due next Tuesday and Thursday please. by @Kent10201 I will eat your babies. While I answered why I love the series above, I can go into why I wanna get all the stacks. It started when I happened to search for the Korean version of mk2 on a whim and saw that it was actually on eBay. Since my birthday was coming up, I decided to ask for it as a present, and lo and behold, I got it in an order with some cheap PS3 VN. Ever since then, I had decided to make it my mission to get every Nep stack out there because I figured it would be a good way to distinguish myself given that aside from that, I mainly plat trophy trash. Had I known how many damn games there would be when I started, I am not sure I would've done it, but now that I'm on the track, I can't and won't get off unless my train crashes and burns. 20. Who is the better overall trophy hunter, you or MrUnknown625 by @Andrea As much as I'd like to toot my own horn, MrUnknown is definitely the better trophy hunter of the two of us. He has a considerably larger amount of hard stuff done than I do if we're looking at skill, and as far as trophy whoring ability, he definitely manages to be a lot more consistent than I am, getting plats done at a faster rate than I will ever manage with my not-so-great time management. 21. Are you and Mr Unknown the same person? by @CjShai Oh shit, we've been figured out! Run! runs away, leaving Unknown to fall on the ground with the oversized trenchcoat covering him (No) 22. What/when was the last VN you played without skipping? by @CjShai 999 as part of The Nonary Games. It was interesting to read having gone through both VLR and ZTD beforehand and I can see why people liked it so much. 23. Will you ever play another MXGP game (and can I watch) by @CjShai pls no bully ;_; (Seriously though, fuck that game. I do not get how people can control those fucking motorcycles.) 24. Do you plan on joining The Corporation (a cj backed collaborative) in 2018? by @Andrea Who knows, maybe. I'm certainly elite enough to join, being Level 81 as of now and all. 25. What is your proudest gaming accomplishment? by @Miles_Warren I have completed Expert on Super Monkey Ball. I had unlimited continues, granted, but dammit, I did it! There's also that combo I mentioned above since I am terrible at fighting games. 26. Are there are games on your trophy list that you are embarrassed by and wished you hadn't played? by @Miles_Warren Terminator Salvation, Heavy Fire: Afghanistan, Generator Rex, and Man Vs. Wild. All Gamefly rentals that I struggled with to the point where they are just sitting on my list forever incomplete. Except Man Vs. Wild. I had the misfortune of playing it around Mother's Day, which got my mom pissed. Then I accidentally died on one of the adventures, voiding the no death trophy for that section, causing me to basically rage quit the game out of stress. It is also the only one of the games that I did not go out and buy sometime afterwards because it sucks dick, specifically the dick that produces the piss that I was making Bear Grylls drink constantly. 27. Having grown up in the 2000s, what is your most memorable moment in gaming history as a child(under 12ish lets say)? by @Dav9834 That would have to be City Escape from Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. While I had played learning games on the PC before, that was the first memory I actually have of playing a game. I was also naturally godawful back then, so while I didn't have too much trouble with the stage, I had massive difficulty on the boss immediately after. It was weird going back to that on PS3 and actually being able to beat the whole Hero story. 28. Do you think you would have liked to witness memorable moments before your time? If so which ones? by @Dav9834 Honestly, it'd be nice to be aware of myself during the time when the Saturn, N64, and Playstation were released. I do wonder how it was like during that time in gaming history since while I do have an interest in that time period, I obviously can't really relate to it since I only really started playing games on the Gamecube, not to mention I wasn't even born until well into that generation. 29. If you could choose any region + language (that doesn't already have its own stacking list of some game) to get its own stack, what would it be? Also what game would you want it to make a stack for? @MrUnknown625 Netherlands for the might of DutchProGaming2. Seriously though, probably Canada for Neptunia. Would be pretty easy to import from and it would be yet another English stack to use for practicing platinum speedruns. Thank you @Wdog-999 for being the first interviewee in the new era of PSNP Interviews. The next interviewee will be revealed soon. @Parker can this thread be moved to the Member Interviews section? Good interview As for this question I can give 2 examples that I experienced. 1. I remember seeing the first Mario 64 commercial and being so excited I ran into the kitchen (I would have been 10 or 11) and telling my mom about Mario flying around in 3d. I even remember quoting some of the commercial to her. As a kid in the 90s you have no idea how huge this was to see Mario flying around and having the Freedom to go where you wanted. 2. When I was in Grade 7 we rented a Playstation with FF7 and Crash Bandicoot. I remember it being our Christmas band concert and I just wanted to finish the concert so my friend and I could get home and play some FF7. The words "blown away" is probably the best way to describe how we felt about that game. It just seemed so HUGE that, and this is 100% the truth, I thought when you escape on the bike that had to be the end of the first CD. I mean it was such an epic scene and it felt like we had been playing for hours and hours...we had to be near 1/3 mark...right? Well the disc didn't end but then when you go to the Golden Saucer for the first time and there is that cutscene as the Saucer gets bigger and bigger...this has to be the end...right? I just couldn't believe as we hit huge location after huge location that there was still more to go on the disc. I never even finished the first disc on that initial rent. So yeah...nowadays it is obviously silly to think that way about a game but at the time nothing was bigger than what we were seeing. Also don't forget back then you got 1 or 2 new games a year so you really got to appreciate how epic some of these games could be
AffectatiousDonk
@Wdog-999, very enjoyable read. I had a feeling you might be a funny farker but wasn't completely sure until now. Respect to Corpse Blood Party Drive what a great game, it definitely spiked my interest in the Korean gaming scene. I enjoy your turn of phrase here, this is definitely my favourite response I will be appropriating it in the future. 1 hour ago, soultaker655 said: I have seen neither of those, so I am just going to go ahead and say yes because it will make you happy and spreading happiness is good. I am still not convinced about you and MrUnknown but perhaps I will have to take my doubts to the grave. ?. As for your Eliteness well, I mean you have alot of BS plats but being able to drive a virtual motorcycle is pretty important factor. Will let you know how the Collaboration votes. Also thanks @Kent10201 I hadn't come across the term " fan gainz " before, now I feel a little dirty participating in this underhanded play without giving it the respectful name it deserves. From this day forward I will proudly acknowledge " fan gainz " bring on WeSing Pop. But I think you were a little tough on @HcG Clawz, my understanding is he did actually sing 6hrs straight of Justin Bieber .............. mmmmmmm Edited October 17, 2017 by CjShai

You bet I mentioned in my Madden 11 review that one of the coolest moments is the first time I heard "EA Sports, it's in the game" on my SNES :D. Also when i met Kraid the first time in Super Metroid and then he begins to grow...I was like HOLY SHIT THAT IS HUGE. If you notice I will always praise a game with Huge Bosses...because I miss games giving us larger than life bosses instead of just some normal looking guy you have to beat
Super-Fly Spider-Guy
Dude, go see them! Like, the first one is great, but it's overhyped as fuuuuuuck so don't fall for that trap, but it's still well worth it. fisty123
Nice job Wdog-999and soultaker655, Been a quite a few years now since I came across the jokes of "Walter and the Never-ending Money Tree" and since then been involved in many topics with yourself so its always nice to get more about members. Bit surprised you picked Plutia for the one to kill off but after thinking about it her HDD form provided some nice change in the humor but really lacked in the development beyond this. Satoshi Ookami
@Wdog-999 >I do miss being able to just have a list of threads with new posts. Just create a custom filter and you can have this @Wdog-999 >This is easy. You're so dead now! ? On 10/17/2017 at 11:07 PM, soultaker655 said: If Neptune turned out to be a trap, would you still go through with it?
