Can't play when signed it to PSN constantly freezes.

So I bought this again last week but I cannot do anything without it freezing, swapped disks but same issue. The console doesn't freeze just the game.  Start a race...freeze... Pause to restart.. Freeze...during race freeze... finish a race freeze (every time) i started a new game and i t freezes as soon as the intro starts...  Now if I sign out of PSN it never freezes! I just don't understand what's going on? Also I have 2 PS3 super slims and it does it on both of them.

Looking at their trophy list, they still need some of the trophies that require online play, maybe this is happening to them when they're aiming to get those trophies. If this is a worldwide issue and it happens online, it could currently be making the platinum unobtainable. There's not really much I can say as a solution for this, maybe it only affects a handful of people.

EA game, what would you expect? All EA racing games are a piece of junk when you try to play them online. Autolog issues, general issues, overall stupidity issues, piles of bugs that are never corrected. Just choose an option,as long as it's detrimental it's correct.

I've been on chat with EA for 2 hours and a specialist said they think my account might be bugged with this game which it has to be as there is no other explanation. I've tried the game on 3 other accounts too and they work fine. I can get into an online game but for cops and robbers which I just need to win once it freezes on round 2. For a race it freezes at the finish. So frustrating. I can't find anyone else who has had this issue. Its like as soon as it tries to update my stats with EA nation it causes it to freeze. If I sign out of EA nation I can still play fine. I have tried to do some online just now and won 2 races, it froze as usual at the end but my stats online saved.. But because it didn't get to the save screen it won't count as the wins etc are saved on the save?  Whats more annoying is my stats from when I played it years ago say I've won 42 races so don't know why the 25 win trophy didn't pop, and I've done 107 events... Its so strange never had an issue like this before.

For single player you can just sign out of EA, for online all you can do is keep trying, eventually it stopped freezing for me.

I'm having this exact issue as well.  Did you guys do anything different that worked better?  I've been freezing consistently all day in cops and robbers.

It’s a miracle that EA game from 2008 still online in 2021

A tip for everyone, if you have issues for freezing in the online and in general, I recommend purging your friends list.  I had over 160 friends and when i brought my friend count down to under 80 friends I had no issues anymore.

This actually works, thanks! My boosting buddy had same problem that the game was always freezing on him after completing the race, sprint or first round of C'n'R and due to this we were not going back to lobby. He reduced his friends list from ~120 to ~60 and... a miracle. Everything is working fine. Thanks for that!

No problem! I never saw a forum post about it so I figured I'd mention I just tried lowering the friend list and the freezing went away.  It was the same for me as well, I would either freeze instantly or loading into a lobby, or after first round of cops and robbers.  There are other games usually older ps3 online games which have weird issues like this.
