Popular Post Kevvik
Game #2: MeiQ Day 3 Impressions Time played: 8 hrs OK, I'm up to 3 party members with guardians. I think this is max party size as the formation menu has no remaining spaces open. Killing things in the third tower now. I also have access to combo attacks with a party when you do moves that are compatible with combos on multiple guardians. This gives a multiplier to your damage based on how well the elements of the attack complement each other. I have also picked up a few more guardians by finding hidden rooms in the first two dungeons. This gives a few more options. I have also discovered forms for the main character. These are revealing costumes which give bonuses to attributes (Atk, Def, MAtk, etc) which also level up giving bigger boosts. Storywise, we are still pretty thin though we now have a trio of baddies which work for the dark mage. I've fought one as a boss fight once I had a 3 person party and was a bit more difficult than normal or early guardian fights. It looks like I will have a long grind ahead of me for the plat going into the other dungeons and post game stuff as one of the trophies is 30k kills and I haven't reached 500 yet though this tower is giving me groups to kill instead on 1s and 2s like the first 2 dungeons. It's picking up but still going to be a long haul. I'll eventually keep going with this as the characters aren't too annoying and combat is fairly fast paced for the grind. As I previously judged, the game is nothing special but I've played worse. Trophies earned: 3/37, 4% for D rank Rating so far: 6.5/10 Completion Rate: 80.94% (-0.54%) Side note: My completion rate went up a bit from Quest of Dungeons as I completed my 10 floor custom dungeon in hard mode, completing the 50 stash, 50 quests, 20 bosses trophies on the way (earning me 3 gold and 2 silver trophies). Next up: not sure, Wednesday and Thursday nights are always busy and tomorrow is unexpectedly busy as well so we'll have to see. More likely a Vita title than console. Popular Post Jaguargenie
Game 2 Final Review I got about 3 hours in on this one. All in all, I'm a bit disappointed. Let me explain. This is a 2d Souls clone. So what can you do to make it stand out so it's not JUST a 2d souls clone? Take mechanics that were basically optional or geared toward a certain type of build and make them mandatory to succeed. This is my source of frustration. A tank build doesn't work (my first character) and a strength build works only slightly better. To really progress you can not use the 'block with your shield until there is an opening' or 'strafe around until you find an opening' techniques. Parry and roll are imperative. They are also really tough to get right. There are small windows for both actions and I've died many times trying to figure them out. Forget the boss fights. Some attacks must be blocked, some jumped, others rolled through. I haven't found a boss attack that can be parried yet (but that all could be me and my ineptitude). Progress is slower going than even in a souls game. I touched on the visual style in my initial impressions, but it bears repeating. Everything is a washed out grey. Like a grey filter was applied to everything but the UI which makes it worse because the colors of the UI contrast so drastically with the grey of the world. Lastly, this game is just as obtuse as souls games. Why is the a problem? A huge community exists to help and give advice and tips for souls games. Not so with s&s. Again, if a game is going to be this obtuse, there has to be a resource to help. All in all, I'm still on the fence. After only about 3 hours (including the restart) I can't put an official grade. I will come back. I will try and persevere. I just don't know how successful I will be. Rating: C Trophies: 4 / 38 for 5 % and E ranking Trophy completion: 74.85% (-.84)

Going by the letters you received, you go back to her hometown of Matsue to talk to her after finding one additional letter that states she killed someone. Upon arriving, you find out that no one named Fumino Aya was alive 15 years ago, but a girl with the same name died 25 years prior, and is said to haunt the high school. You only clues are her friends mentioned in the letters, and to find them and ask questions. The gameplay is more reminiscent of Ace Attorney as opposed to a straight VN. It probably is the most hand holding VN game I have ever played as well. The story seems ok, but it hasn't grasped me fully yet. That is a sentence that I feel I think on a lot of VNs but then something happens to kick it up into high gear. I am looking forward to finishing the story. The chapters are nice a quick, so far only about 20 minutes each. and I'm 4 out of 10 chapters done. there are multiple endings, but the main story is the same, with just the final 2 chapters differentiating. It will be an easy platinum once I finish the first playthrough. Funny to see Root Letter again. I don't think we've had a KYC event without someone playing this game. 3 hours ago, Kittet3 said: I’ll be starting Unravel probably tomorrow, but I’ll give my expectations today. I saw the Unravel artwork on a gamer card and quickly tracked down what game it was and purchased it last December when it was half off. I played it for about twenty minutes but got distracted by other games quickly afterward. I’m expecting a cozy game with an equally cozy story. I’m interested to see how the strings work as a mechanic and if they found some unique uses for that. I love the artwork and I hope I find another string thing to make friends with. I equally hope not to encounter a cat. I played this game in KYC3. Your profile doesn't indicate you're a Completionist, so you should enjoy this one a bit more than I did at first. There's a trophy for beating all levels without dying and that was frustrating at many spots. I eventually completed them all for the plat but this one was tougher than I expected for an "artsy" game. If you're not hell-bent on the platinum, then you'll really enjoy it. The visuals are great, soundtrack is wonderful and how the developers incorporate the scenery into the game is clever. Have fun!
DamagingRob
My completion percentage is going the wrong way. Lol. Zone of the Enders remained fun till the end. Quite a bit more to the story in the last third of the game, too. I didn't notice this before, but it has a Versus mode. For when you want to robot fight your friends.
Popular Post vin_rob
Game #2: Infamous Day 4-6 I’ve had some experiences with infamous since I’ve got the infamous games for the ps4 and I got the plat for both of them. But this is the first one I’m playing for the ps3, still using the ps4 controller that I paired with the Mass Effect title tho. Story wise you play as Cole MacGrath. You are a package delivery guy. When you are delivering a certain package a huge explosion occurs where you are, and this will give you the gift of powers. All of a sudden you are charged with electricity. You live with your best friend Zeke during the lockdown. And believe it or not, the town is being ruled by local drug gangs. But of course you are going to try and find a way out and to take back the town. You can do this by doing missions given to you by bystanders in the city, you slowly take back territory. There 15 specific good karma missions and 15 bad karma in the game that lock each other out. So you have to be careful if you want to do a complete good or bad karma run. During your escape attempt at pretty much the start of the game, you meet a woman, she asks you to do her a favor and in return she’ll get you out of there and your name will be cleared.. (since people suspect you for the explosion). After that point you do missions for her and you can do this the good or bad way (karma) The missions have a good or a bad outcome you can decide. I’ve only done the good route for now since that’s usually my first playthrough of infamous games. At the start of the game you slowly learn how everything works with your powers. And slowly after certain conditions are met, you learn new powers you can use to ‘hurt’ or to heal people in the town. And you can upgrade almost all powers, for example the healing power is more like a passive skill. While the shooting electricity from the palm of your hand can be upgraded to do more damage and to heal yourself. You gain experience by killing / immobilize enemy’s and beating enemy’s in a certain ways yield more experience. And of course your powers are awesome to have some fun in the town. Using the tram / train rails to travel, jumping around the city using the electric cable’s between buildings to glide between them. Etc. In the end I liked the game wished I had time to play some more. But I've had some time claimed from my destiny clan too help / do the raid. Popular Post Metal Slime King
Game #2 - Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational I should make a bit of a disclaimer on this review. I'm not a sports guy and as such you won't find any serious sports games on my profile, unless you consider driving a sport, then I suppose you would find one serious sports game on my profile. I do like some games that emulate a fun recreational activity in a lighthearted way. I liked Wii Tennis and Wii Bowling and I liked an earlier Hot Shots Golf on PS1 so it was no surprise that I enjoyed Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational for the Vita. It's a fun golf game with cartoonish characters that doesn't take itself too seriously. The courses I've seen so far have been varied and interesting, the music for each have fitted their unique styles and none have annoyed me yet. As I've mentioned previously, the control scheme for golf games haven't changed much since their inception, I've unlocked 4/5 of the available control schemes but they are all different graphical representations of the same idea; you select the power of your swing, then the precision of your impact. That's fine though, there's no need to reinvent the wheel just for the sake of differentiating yourself. There are further complications in this game, you can put backspin on the ball (which is handy if you don't want to roll past the hole) and perform other fancy shots which I haven't really got into. It looks like there are 7(?) tournaments with 5 courses and a Vs. round each, so there's a lot of content, characters to unlock and items to buy. The flaming intro for the Vs. round was pretty funny, that's some intense GOLF ACTION! I would give World Invitational a solid (). It's a good looking, lighthearted golf game with good controls, plenty of content and plenty of challenge too. The rarity of the plat on PSNP is under 2% and I can see why. It's going to be a long grind to earn enough money to buy all the things (a trophy) but I think the real barrier for most players will be collecting all of the crowns which are earned by coming in first on a course and fulfilling a special requirement for each course and some of the requirements look quite daunting. I'm debating whether to grab the PS3 version as well, before the one easy online trophy becomes unavailable (Dec 21st, 2017). Popular Post voodoo_eyes
Game #3 - Volume - Initial Impressions So I've put an hour in this game so far and completed 20 levels. I gotta say, it's very meh. The game feels lackluster in every aspect so far and I'm quite sure that won't change. The gadgets are fiddly as hell and some have way too long cooldowns. If I have to stand idle just to wait for something to recharge, that's something that makes me question the game design. I'll play some more of it tomorrow, but currently a back-to.back playthrough of Dreamfall Chapters is more fun than this game. It's not just 8-bit, it's extra strength ugly 8-bit. Well I wasn't just thinking about the graphics and sound, if you gave the game more of a chance I'm sure you would've found it to be horribly repetitive and boring as well. If Shovel Knight is retro gold then Downwell would be more like retro mould, especially if you use the Gameboy green palette. Although like a mould it can grow on you, I still find myself jumping in for a couple of runs every now and then. Like "Stockholm Syndrome - The Game", though I suppose most gamers have their own games they could give that title to. The game that spits in your face at every turn but you still return. It's alright, just don't try to defend them against others on the internet and for the love of god don't try to recruit new hostages. Speaking of Shovel Knight, I had to postpone starting Transistor today until I finished the last level of new game+ with Spectre Knight in order to get his final trophy as my 4000th milestone (woot, woot!) and 100% in Shovel Knight (if only temporarily). Speaking of Transistor, that's my third game of the event. I had enough time to get to the first boss encounter. I knew this game was by Supermassive who did Bastion, I read that this game came out first. I was totally surprised by how similar the two games were. Like the engine and the core mechanics are identical, the graphics and sounds are different but they play like the same game. There were further similarities, the vague undefined nature of the game worlds at the start of the games, the constant presence of the narrator. I'm pretty sure it's the same narrator in both games, he just sounds gruffer in Bastion. I guess it's not a bad thing necessarily, to share so much with Bastion because they're both decent games. It just seems a little lazy. I guess I can't point the finger at Transistor since it was released first but that sense of déjà vu certainly dominated my first impressions. I started playing Bastion last month but lost interest not long into it, mainly because I was still focused on Shovel Knight. It was a decent game and I'm sure I'll get back to it but I might as well focus on Transistor now first. I'm going to save a more through description of the game for the final review so it's all in one post. Popular Post Jaguargenie
Game 3 Impressions According to the save game file I'm 108 minutes in and just popped the trophy for the midway point in the story. In that short time I've popped 20 (yes 20) of the 30 trophies. I feel a little bit dirty. So here's my stats thus far. Trophies: 20/30 for 40% and a D rank. Completion %: 74.70 (-.99%) For those who don't know, Undertale is an 8 bit retro style RPG. It very much draws from Dragon Warrior 1 on the NES for it's battle inspiration. What makes it stand out though? A few things actually. It's weird as hell (You can flirt with, and date a skeleton). It's battle system allows to be a pacifist and not fight at all. (A dog attacks you? Pet it into submission) It's also super quirky and doesn't take itself seriously at all. What do i think about It? So I am going to sound like @Cubone when I say this, but this is an ugly 8 bit retro game. Not everything is ugly. The monster characters look pretty good when u get to the battles. It's the over the top view of the world as you are walking around that looks bad. And your main character looks terrible. I could excuse character models looking meh if the one you had to look at all the time was good. This one isn't. The sound track is more of the same. 8 bit retro MIDI music but it isn't all that catchy. It's not grating, but you won't be humming it ala mega man 2. What I am enjoying is the combat. You have the choice of attacking or being a pacifist. The interesting thing is that you can use context clues to decide what action to take other than attacking (flirt, pet, threaten, etc). But your half of combat isn't the only unique part. When you are attacked, you have to maneuver a heart through a bullet hell to avoid damage. It's really unique. So far I'm enjoying it. It's unlike any RPG I've ever played before. Hopefully I will get some more playtime before the next game swap.

Popular Post Arctic Cress
A bit late, but here's my review for Game #1: Dynasty Warriors: Godseekers Started with a Vita game because I'm trying to get the Everybody's Golf platinum right now, and this was the only choice there. Having played Dynasty Warriors 8 I'm pretty familiar with the Three Kingdoms storyline, though this skips the usual Yellow Turban Rebellion battle to have Zhao Yun explore a cave and introduce the two new characters exclusive to this game. Yeah, ok. Afterwards, chapter 2 was the familiar Hulao Gate battle split into 4 separate fights and including some officers that usually aren't there, for whatever reason. From the battles I played through, the game feels a bit sluggish and enemy + allied turns take a long time even when sped up which is the exact opposite of what you would expect from a Dynasty Warriors game - though it's normal for a strategy RPG like this game is. The basic way to win battles is to deal enough damage with bonuses to fill up the Synchro Gauge at the top of the screen, which allows a number of your units to move and attack again and after those actions, land a devastating special attack with a 3x3 square on the map that can deal up to 100% extra damage by repeatedly hitting the X button. It's also efficient for leveling characters as all characters that participate in the Synchro Mode divide EXP equally, and it helped one character who was lagging behind everyone else. Leveling up also is enhanced by the skill board for each officer - battles give points that can be used on the board to unlock new skills and stat boosts. Right now I've been focused on giving HP healing effects, a 30% exp boost, and some stat boosts that seem useful. My only complaint so far is that no character has stayed except for the two new characters - even when I did a skirmish battle after chapter 2 neither of the officers stuck around besides the one battle. Hopefully that changes later on. Anyway, the battle system is interesting enough to keep going since I have good knowledge of the story already. There's a subplot about one of the new characters as well, so there's a small part of the story I haven't seen yet, obviously. I'll keep playing this going forward, but now I think I'll get to one of my PS4 games - Blue Reflection will be the first and that's totally not because I already have the game installed on my PS4. Completion stats: Dynasty Warriors: Godseekers - 7/44 - 11% Completion % at beginning of event: 71.13% Current completion %: 70.91% Difference: -0.22% I'm still playing some other games so the completion % isn't as lowered as it could have been. Too many games to play and too little time, unfortunately!
Psy-Tychist
5 hours ago, mking_63 said: Speaking of Transistor, that's my third game of the event. Just going to add some bits for your info: The company is Supergiant Games, Supermassive Games made Until Dawn. Bastion came out first for XBox Live Arcade and was the ported to the PS4. You are quite correct that the narrator is the same, the difference is he actually is present in Transistor (as the Transistor). Give the combat more of a chance, you'll be surprised
Popular Post dizzyshadow
Game 1 Lego Star Wars – The Force Awakens (vita) I think most people will have played a lego game at some point or at least be familiar with the concept. But just in case if you haven’t they are a fairly simple 3d platformer, clearly targeted at younger gamers, but they are also a rare (these days) 2 player couch Coop game. Typically you play through the game twice, once in story mode which tells the story of the particular movie or franchise the game is based on (in a slightly humorous way) and then secondly in Free Play mode where you can use any character you have unlocked to replay the level, this allows you to reach areas that were previously inaccessible due to not having characters with the right abilities. During this step you main aim is to collect the huge number of collectibles that are hidden around the levels. While all the games are available on home consoles they typically have handheld conversions as well. From what I have seen the approach here varies significantly from a full conversion of the game to the handheld system, a cut down version or possibly even a game with significant changes to suit the handheld system. I used to be a big fan of Lego games , and myself and my wife used to play through them together in coop, most of this was in the days before trophies even dating back to my ps2/Gamecube days, however Lego harry potter should have been my first platinum except one the collectibles glitched on me, which is something that is all too common in Lego games annoying glitches that stop you making progress. While I haven’t encountered any problems yet (touch wood) there are lots of reports of people suffering glitches so it looks like the game still holds true to form. Over time I found they got very repetitive so a kind of drifted away from them, so recently I was keen to go back and see if anything has changed significantly. This game works well on the Vita level have been broken down into small chunks which makes it suitable for handheld “on the go” gaming there are 9 chapters each broken down into 3 sections with each sections taking on average 5-10 minutes to complete in story mode. I’ve not played the PS4 version but I’m guessing there have been quite a few changes when converting this to handheld. The game also adopts a hub world approach so the story continues between chapters (as well as being a ton of collectibles to find in the hubs) There are a couple of new features which I haven’t seen before, the blaster shooting sections where the camera angle is changed to be fixed behind you and which act like a very basic shooter where you can dive in and out of cover (although to be honest I’ve not found much need to use cover), and secondly multi-build which basically means you have to use the same Lego bricks to build different objects, this means that you have to build and then dismantle objects in order to solve the puzzles, this made the puzzles a bit more challenging in my opinion as you have to figure out the correct order to do things rather than simply the old approach of smash everything and build whatever you find. But if you’ve ever played a Lego game before you will pick this up straight away and even if you haven’t there really isn’t much of a learning curve. However if you do want to try a Lego game I’d really recommend picking up one where you are familiar with the film it is based on, as the story mode doesn’t really tell the story and the jokes will likely be lost on you. Note to self I really must get round to watching the force awakens. Overall I’ve had more fun here than I expected to, and it made me remember why I used to enjoy these so much, remains to be seen if this is still same once I’ve done the hard slog of getting the collectibles. Future plans: will definitely return and platinum this once the event is over Trophies 21/47 Completion: 51.8% (-0.04%) Next Up : Aegis of Earth 6 hours ago, PerryToxteth said: Playing Root Letter would be way out of my gaming element. But with a 55% plat, what could go wrong? BTW, I looked in the prior events and DizzyShadow played it in KYC IV and Markus tried it in III. I did play Root Letter in the last KYC, i actually really enjoyed it during the event, I went back after the event and got the plat, i have to say i didn't like where they went with some of the endings but overall i enjoyed it, I'd recommend anyone give it a go. Its also got me in to VNs. I've played virtue's last reward, will be trying out zero time in this event and i now have quite a few others waiting in my backlog.

Metal Slime King
@Psy-Tychist Thanks for the corrections, I don't research these reviews, I was just going off of memory of something I'd read a while ago. To be fair Supergiant and Supermassive are probably the two easiest company names to confuse for someone who doesn't follow the industry too closely, even easier that Traveller's Tales and Tell Tale Games. It probably didn't help that I played through Until Dawn a couple of months ago. Regarding the chronological order, I've got no excuse for that, guess I just misread or misremembered. @dizzyshadow The part about reusing pieces in different builds sounds interesting. The Lego games were in dire need of something resembling a puzzle mechanic. For all the franchise action games they release I would really like to see a new Lego Racers game. You ever play those?
