Popular Post jemmie
Welcome to the Fourth Annual League of Trophy Hunters Holiday Special! For those of you who are relatively new to the forums, every year, on my birthday, I create a Holiday Special event, each one more extravagant than the last! The event is always right after Christmas, giving admins of the Trophy Hunters League (and now the Team League) a break during the holidays. If anyone wants to know more about the past of this event, look at the threads for Season One, Season Two and Season Three. Did you look at all those threads? Good, because we're doing SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT! This year, we're going to do a BATTLE ROYALE OF EPIC PROPORTIONS! Here are the rules: General Rules: Spoiler 1. Base Scoring will be based on rules from the Trophy Hunters League (this means that if a game won't count for points in the league, then it won't count here!), but as always, anyone can join this event. 2. The event will start on December 26th, GMT. Registration will close as soon as the event starts. 3. Each round will be one rest day, followed by an elimination day. Rest Day Rules: Spoiler 1. During the rest day, each remaining player will choose one other remaining player to challenge. 2. Challenges must be submitted within four hours of the elimination day. Only one challenge may be issued per player. 3. Any one player can participate in up to three challenges per round (including the one the player may issue). 4. While a player doesn't have to issue a challenge during a rest day, if anyone doesn't participate in at least one challenge per round, he/she will be automatically eliminated. 5. Each player will start out with two Boosts (each giving X2 points for a round) and a nullifier (which can be used to negate the score of any one challenger in the upcoming round). 6. Items can be used up until one hour before the rest day ends. 7. A nullifier can only be used against a challenger, and even then, it can only be used if there are multiple challengers. 8. If a player uses a boost and then gets nullified, he/she can opt to save the boost within an hour of the nullification. Elimination Day Rules: Spoiler 1. To win a challenge, a player must get a higher score than all those who have challenged him/her. This means that if someone is issued three challenges, gets 100 points, and his/her opponents get 20, 30, and 51 points respectively, the challenge is considered lost. 2. If you lose a challenge, you are eliminated. 3. If you score lower than the person you challenged, but the combined score of you and your fellow challengers is still higher, you are safe. 4. Trophies must be synced as soon as the elimination day ends. Scores may or may not be counted immediately. 5. In the event of a tie, if there is more than one challenger, the challenged player automatically wins. Otherwise, basic THL tie-breaking rules apply. Tearraven
Despite getting an absolute vote by forcing a game, I went ahead and voted for Street Fighter V. Despite my lack of enjoyment in terms of the developer's business practices, the game is still excellent for tournaments.
Dr_Mayus
The only fighting game I really like is Mortal Kombat so I put my vote in for that

jemmie
So a few people (understandably) voiced their concerns that I'm not doing an official trophy event this year, so I added an option to bring back my original idea in the poll. I'll only do it though if it gets more than half of the votes.
Tearraven
I can't really say I'm surprised that many people want a trophy hunter event when it's labelled "Trophy Hunter's Holiday Special". Perhaps we need a different name for the event and can run it on the side.
jemmie
It seems people are keen on having another trophy competition, so I whipped up something in a spoiler tab at the bottom of the opening post. It'll become official if it wins the poll.
jemmie
After thinking about it a bit more, I added a few rules regarding the nullifier to make it fair.
jemmie
The poll is over! It looks like we're doing a trophy event after all. I'll update the thread tomorrow night. The update will include which days the fighting tournaments will be. The games are Tekken 7 (PS4), Under Night In-Birth EXE:Late (PS3), Injustice (PS4), Mortal Kombat X (PS4), and Street Fighter V (PS4).
jemmie
The opening post is now officially up to date. Everyone can now start joining the bench for either a fighting tournament and/or the event itself.

jemmie
There are about ten days left to sign up for either the trophy event and/or the fighting tournaments. I wasn't planning on participating in the trophy event, but with such a weak showing, I'll only need to use a fraction of my power to win this year. Maybe more people will sign up and prove me wrong. jemmie
Thanks to @StrickenBiged, the winner of the Holiday Special (trophy portion) will get a one year Premium Membership! I'm not going to hand it over too easily though!
jemmie
After some careful consideration, I have decided to remove the 2D tournaments from the event. It occurred to me that having them from the start may have come off as a troll to some people, and I apologize. The trophy competition will still happen no matter what though, and a countdown has been added for that. In case anyone's wondering, @Tearraven will still be streaming some Injustice matches with me during its intended tournament time, December 30th at 2am GMT. Here's a countdown for that. It'll be more of a casual thing now, but it'll still be a fun time.
jemmie
Merry Christmas everyone! There are only two hours left to join the Holiday Soecial! More will be said when I get home, but to put it simply, as soon as the countdown reaches zero, people can start challenging one another.

jemmie
Sorry to keep you waiting! Signups have now officially closed! There are four of us in total, which means we can have anywhere from one to three rounds, depending on who challenges who. Today is the first Rest Day, which means we all have until 8 pm GMT to challenge someone. Since there are so few of us, the three-person rule is meaningless, meaning any possible combination of challengers and "challengies" is a-okay. You don't have to challenge someone, but if you end up not being in any challenges at all, you'll be automatically eliminated! After the challenge period is done, we'll have until the end of the rest day to use our possible items (of course, you can use them right now if you want, but I wouldn't recommend it). Remember that the only way to take back a boost is if your score has been nullified by someone else. Even then, you can still choose to keep it if you're involved in another challenge. Don't worry. If your score gets nullified right before the Rest Day ends, I'll give you a short grace period to reconfirm your boost, say one hour after the nullification? That seems fair. That should be it for now. If anyone has any questions, please let me know.
