Well anyway, good luck! I have no idea what kind of madness drove you into selling off your whole collection, but I'm sure it will be fun putting this new one together :)

Making space in preparation for moving to a new apartment. I also sold hundreds of CDs. The good thing is that now I can aim directly at the best versions, especially GotY ones. So, I'm not too sad. ;)

Alarm für Cobra 11, well, omg. This is a crappy German TV show. I always thought the games were only released on PC.
Thanks for the list. This'll help a lot. :)

as someone who has dabbled in this but, for now, has no job...this shit is expensive, like I had a list just like yours and browsed ebay and game.co.uk (which have buy 3 for 2 used) all the time to see a good deal and man, it will cost you a ton xD
also I always aimed at special editions or limited editions, no bundles and no "essentials"

I will buy the most stuff used. That's why I'd never go for special editions as online codes are pretty much always used. An example:
Mass Effect 2: new on Amazon.de for 19,99 € (23,79 $, 17,62 £)

Mass Effect 2: used on rebuy.de for 2,99 € (3,56 $, 2,64 £)

oh yeah if the SE doesn't have anything that great and/or the price difference is huge then I'd go for basic one as well
one exception though, SW The Force Unleashed I will not buy it unless I'm getting the Unlimited Sith Edition

yeah, most stores have the "essentials" version and it just ruins the cover
and also the essentials version doesn't come with steelbook and stuff
so the real deal costs a lot, I mean relatively a lot for a game that came out in like 2009

Let's Build a Game Collection

Hello community! :awesome:

As some of you might know, I sold almost my entire game collection this spring. I decided to switch to digital games. Six months later I came to the conclusion that this was an idiotic move if there ever was one. Digital versions of major releases are way more expensive (like this) and there's obviously no way to put them on a shelve. What will I do now? Build a game collection! Of course there are limitations. I'm not rich by any means and I see no purpose in buying Japanese or Korean games. I'm busy enough using English properly. :eyebrow: I wanna give a huge shout out to MetalJesusRocks, whose videos were the sparks that set my passion on fire. 1f918.png

What will I collect?
System: PlayStation 3
Genres:

  • Role Playing Games
  • Racing Games
  • Fighting Games (examples)

Exceptions:

  • Games that are made for online play, e.g. Final Fantasy XIV.
  • Games without trophies.

My focus lies on games released in the West (EU & US). If a game was also released on PS4, it won't be purchased. There is no point in buying an inferior version. However, I'll keep them on the list for a better overview. If a game was released in multiple versions, I'm only going for the best one. Street Fighter IV is a prime example. This game was re-released as Super Street Fighter IV and later as Ultra Street Fighter IV. I will only buy the ultra version. There's only one exception: Editions that contain a soundtrack CD. Those will always have priority over others.

I will start my collection with bundles (examples), followed by complete series (Final Fantasy, Need for Speed ect.) and finally single games. However, if I find a single one for an exceptionally low price, I'll pick it up no matter what. Hunters gonna hunt. ;)

Well, but this won't be possible without the help of the PSNP community. Even though I play games for almost 30 years and been on PS3 since 2008, I don't know everything. I need your help to track down even the most obscure stuff. Don't hesitate to post even really shitty games. Quality does not matter. And please, please, please let me know if there are editions with a soundtrack CD. Those have top priority!

I will keep updating this thread as soon as I pull new stuff from my mailbox, including photos of my recent pick ups and the prices I got them for (in €, $ and £ respectively)

To give you an overview of my entire physical game collection as of today (30 November 2017), here's a picture.

Yes, that's it. Quite pathetic for someone who plays games since 1989, huh? :P

I like MetalJesusRocks channel, aswell as RadicalReggie. It seems weve been gaming nearly the sametime, I started in 1988. We also both sold our game collections (yes, I sold mine to go digital aswell).

Only difference is I'm happy with my decision to trade my cartridges for Everdrives, my PSP games for roms, and PS4 stuff for those convenient tiles. Thats because unlike yourself, I didnt sell my PS2 or PS3 collections - I left those (and my nintendo Wii U/3DS) games alone. :)

YES, it has a full offline mode...rather fun...Kinda like Split/Second with the standard RR flavoring.

I don't know how prices are in Europe, but man, here in the States, best time to be collecting PS3 games, so cheap now.

I would focus on getting the "Games/Series that Defined PS3" stuff:

Bioshock, Assassins creed, Uncharted, Infamous, Souls, Last of Us, Tales of Xillia etc.

Then focus on the HD collections, like PS2 games that got trophy treatment, like God of War, Ratchet, Jak, etc.

Then focus on underrated gems like Dragon's Crown, Dragon's Dogma, Deadly Premonition, Trails of Cold Steel, and others.

Then you can do weeaboo trash and COD LOL jk (sorta...)

I don't regret selling my SNES and N64 stuff at all. I actually had some sort of a retro kick a few years ago and bought some stuff (see spoiler). But it turned out that games without trophies don't motivate me anymore. Kinda sad but that's how it is now.

From the top of my head: Hunt down Folklore.

Yeah, it doesn't have trophies, but...

Dew it. Dew it, dew it, dew it. -eye twitch-

So far RPG bases are covered rather well.

I can't help you with racing or fighting games, as I rarely play these. As for RPG and misc that aren't in that list...

Alice: Madness Returns

Asura's Wrath

Catherine

Deadly Premonition

Silent Hill Downpour

Zone of the Enders: HD Collection

Why not adding Mass Effect 1 to your list too? also if you like fallout you may want to consider adding The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and V: Skyrim to your list, unless you plane to play Skyrim on the PS4, in that case just Oblivion

Alice: Madness Returns -> platformer

Asura's Wrath -> hack 'n' slash

Catherine -> visual novel/puzzle

Deadly Premonition -> survival horror

Silent Hill Downpour -> survival horror

Zone of the Enders: HD Collection -> hack 'n' slash. I already own the first one on PS3

None of these games can be considered RPG in any way. See annotations above.

You should read posts carefully too, I guess. And I shouldn't have wrongly adviced as well.

In the end, my input isn't important.

I did. the first post in this thread clearly states which games I'm about to collect. The games you've listed have nothing to do with it.

I don’t see Dirt 2 in your list. I would definitely add it.

EDIT: Nevermind. It has a different name on EU and it’s on there 😑

Yep. The retail version has no trophies. Only the digital one has.

Yesterday was my lucky day. I've visited a flea market and got the official guide books for Final Fantasy X, X-2 and XII for 3,50 € each (4,11 $, 3,08 £). About a fifth of the usual price.

Just remember when buying used GOTY or limited edition versions...the Publishers LOVE to have just the standard game included in the case and all the extra stuff is available via voucher...which has already been used.
