How was your gaming year - 2017 version

My 2017 aka first time actually becoming a trophy hunter (still in progress)

Plats: from 0 to 13 (+13); aiming for 15 by end-of-year

Gold: from 7 to 91 (+84)

Silver: from 70 to 226 (+156)

Bronze: from 307 to 712 (+405)

Best game: judging solely on my log, I would say Infamous SS. Even though I missed some of the lore from the first two main games (this is the first game I played in the series), I loved the fast-pace action of the game, and the abilities were awesome to use. If I ever get a PS3 and/or PSNow, I would gladly jump back on Infamous 1 and 2.

Worst game: I got Murdered: Soul Suspect on sale, and played it when I was out of work for two days (sickness, bleh). It had a decent story, but the game was boring overall. Not really much input into what the user is able to do. It felt like mindless collectable-collecting spree. Worth the $5 I paid for it on sale, and I would recommend it solely for an easy plat. But never would I pay the full $20 (?) for this game.

:silver: Silver Trophies: from 1151 to 1341 (+190)
:gold: Gold Trophies: from 314 to 384 (+70)
:platinum: Platinum Trophies: from 65 to 82 (+17)

not that succesfull as I wanted it to be. Total 1117 new trophies, but I wanted to finish the year with 100 Platinum.

EDIT: Can't really tell my best and worst game 2017.

The worst was maybe ARK (sorry if you like it, I can't really get into it after finish the platinum.)

The best was maybe... hmmm, that's difficult. I don't have 'the' best game 2017. I liked Horizon very much, also 4 Goddesses Online, F1 2017, Sonic Forces, Blue Reflection and Senran Kagura Peach Beach Splash.

Cool thread!

Here is mine as of December 13, 2017. I'm hoping to manage 1 more plat before the end of the year to double my total. BY FAR, my best year. I don't think I have ever broken 1,000 trophies in a year!

Bronze: 2174 - 3347 (+1173)

Silver: 508 - 864 (+356)

Gold: 177 - 313 (+136)

Platinum: 31- 61 (+30)

Best game: Persona 5 or Ratchet and Clank (PS4)

Worst: Metal Gear Solid 5: TPP

WTF @Nauticus87, you got more trophies this year than I have total. Haha!

It was an amazing gaming year for me, lots of adventures, stories, and characters I got to experience. I was also able to earn my 100th platinum this year!

The only disappointments this year is that I didn't get out of my comfort zone in trying more genres and I did not accomplished my 2017 New Year's Resolution of getting more online games since I always felt left out when my friends were playing online together.

Hoping everyone enjoys their new year gaming, best wishes.

Good year 4 me. This year is the best year from me in trophy gain since i created my acc at 2011. Reached also my 100th plat dat year. It was my main goal to get 100 plats . To be honest when i started on ps 3 i thought i never get it xD. My fav game this year is Nioh. I spend total 400 hours around for it . Enjoyed the dlcs to the fullest, great game as well. Dunno if i can top my record on 2018.

Bronze: 7,111 -> 9,038 (+1,927)

Silver: 1,925 -> 2,532 (+607)

Gold: 660 -> 920 (+260)

Platinum: 98 -> 135 (+37)

Total earned this year: 2,831

Pretty good year for gaming in general.  I still have a few more easy platinums I'm hoping to pop by the end of the year to reach 40.

Favorite game: Nier Automate, hands down.  The action was great, the story was the mindfuckary that comes with Yoko Taro games.  and then the music, easily one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard.  I wish I could forget playing it so I could go back though it again for the first time.  Ending E really got to me as well.

Least Favorite game: My least favorite games I played this year didn't come out in 2017.  I would put Risen 3 and Metal Gear Solid v as my least favorite games.  Risen is such a mess.  I wanted to punch something while trying to find some redeeming qualities in it.  I still can't. For MGSV, I tried to like it.  I have tried every MGS out there, and the story just never really grabbed me.  The controls and the open world just didn't work for me.  Maybe I'll try it some more, but I am no hurry to return to it

Most Disappointing game:  this one really hurts to put here, due to how much I was looking forward to it, but Persona 5.  I'm about 15 hours in, and I just have no want to return to it.  The characters just seem like rehashes of older characters in the series (Ryoji<Yosuke<Junpei).  The music was not as memorable as 4 or 3 were either.  I did like that the dungeons were now static, which made them have better puzzles.  I want to go back to it every time I see it on my shelf, but it just feels like a chore.  I really wanted to like it, I bought the Take your Heart edition, but it doesn't even come close to the greatness that Persona 4 was.

I have increased by 18 platinums (not all billion hour, Wipeout HD difficulty platinums, but it's probably the most I've had in a single year in at least a couple). This year, I've introduced 1.5 new consoles into my household, being the Switch and Xbox One X (the .5, since I upgraded and had a One prior to that), and there's been a ton of great games that I really wish I could dedicate my time to instead of shoveling into my massive backlog. I also finally managed to platinum Skyrim, which has been quite an elusive game as I've tried to make a serious dent in its story, guilds, and overall content since its initial release and it wasn't until the Special Edition where I was able to finally sit down and play the story beyond the High Hrothgar climb and put a dent in any of the DLC.

As far as best games that I've played all year? If counting other consoles, then Mario Odyssey. If not, then probably Horizon: Zero Dawn (also one of my first 4k HDR games, and it looks amazing on Pro).

As far as worst? Well, didn't come out this year, but I think the game that left a sour taste in my mouth was Ark: Survival Evolved. It's not a horrible experience with other players, but alone, it's only OK. Not to mention the hunt for trophies in the game is an unbearable slog that I wouldn't recommend to anyone. I can definitely see the appeal of the game, but maybe I'm not as big on the survival games as I was hoping I would be upon buying it.

Best trophy of the year? This bad boy:

20L55fc2a.png

Good on paper from Madden 17. Not because it took extreme skill, but I literally had to wait like 5 months for it to become possible with the draft cards they were dishing out. Seeing some people waste 600 drafts on this around launch, literally run to the forums crying how they were bald since they were tugging out all their hair waiting for a viable draft that could even give them a shot at this put in perspective that maybe being on the list of "first achievers/fastest achievers" wasn't important in the grand scheme of my sanity, especially when they were inevitably going to add more high rated elite players to the card pool in their MUT mode. Probably spent a fraction of the time on the actual mode compared to others, and it should also be noted for those who aren't  in the initiated for this game/series that it takes 20 minutes before you can draft again after failing to achieve the desired results from the previous one. Nuts.

So far my best year in gaming. I started playing consoles in 2015 but didn't care a lot for trophies or anything. I got a bit more interested in it last year but I actively went for trophies this year, so most of my trophy progress was this year:

:bronze: Bronze Trophies: from 409 to 998 (+589)
:silver: Silver Trophies: from 66 to 278 (+212)
:gold: Gold Trophies: from 25 to 167 (+142)
:platinum: Platinum Trophies: from 4 to 24 (+20)
Total: 963 trophies earned

My best games this year were Zelda BotW, Kingdom Hearts (whole of 2.8), Tales from the Borderlands and Danganronpa V3. Especially Danganronpa V3. This game is an emotional roller coaster and it was so well made and I still am invested in it. I haven't earned the plat in that one yet as right now I took some time off it so that my room mate can play it but yeah, besides Zelda this would be my game of the year!

Worst games this year... Adam's Venture: Origins. Don't even have to think twice about that. God, this game was terrible. Apart from that maybe Final Fantasy XV. It was okay, I guess, but the more I try to invest in that game the more I loath it. If I would have to say my reasons, it probably wouldn't stop as I would find more and more reasons.

I don't really have any favorite trophies, but I think it's kinda funny that Murdered: Soul Suspect's plat is called Moving On and with exactly that trophy I got an level up xD

:bronze:: 369 to 1113 (+744)

:silver::121 to 343 (+222)
:gold:: 42 to 120 (+78)
:platinum:: 8 to 23 (+15)

Total: 1059 trophies - not bad :3 (I admittedly haven't been doing too well trophy-wise recently but I might get a few more easy plats before the end of the year)

Best games: Mario Odyssey, Zelda BotW, Taiko Drum Session, Yakuza 0

Worst games: Eh... nothing really comes to mind as particularily BAD, at most I could maybe find a game I was kinda "meh" about of just didn't like as much as the others. Either I just tend to pick good games or I'm not critical enough xD

Best trophy of the year: Taiko no Tatsujin V's plat... felt GREAT to finally get back to it and finally clear out that last annoying challenge I had almost given up on

Very successful year for me!

:platinum: 42 to 109 (+67)

:gold: 229 to 540 (+321)

:silver: 687 to 1,368 (+681)

:bronze: 2,222 to 3,977 (+1,755)

Total = 2,824

I probably won't top that due to the upcoming college semesters but I'm satisfied!

Best Games - Persona 5, Horizon Zero Dawn, Persona 4: Golden

Worst Games - Hannah Montana, The Sims 3: Pets, Albedo: Eyes from Outer Space, Last Rebellion, Sebastein Loeb Rally EVO, Monster Jam Crush It

Best Trophy - 1L03861e.png

:bronze: Bronze Trophies: from 0 to 1,134
:silver: Silver Trophies: from 0 to 466
:gold: Gold Trophies: from 0 to 256
:platinum: Platinum Trophies: from 0 to 50

:yay: Best game I played: So many games!! - Uncharted 4: I played so many games this year but I think I'll go with uncharted.

:rolleyes: Worst game I played: Adam's Venture: Origins - Hated every second of this sloppy game. Played it with a walkthrough next to me just to get it finished as soon as possible.

B) Best trophy of the year: Legend - Metal gear solid V platinum - With 50 platinums in 6-7 month's this one keeps returning in my mind for the huge grind it was to finish it.

My first trophy was on  22nd May 2017 6:26:50 PM. Starting this year out with the mindset to play PS4 exclusives only which turned into a complete completionist/platinum hunter.

I'm pretty new to all of this on PSNP but the community is awesome and I think you guys know best if going from nothing to this many trophies is any good.

I hope to reach over 120 platinums the upcoming year and get out of the top 1000 Netherlands. Currently sitting on 2035.

lots of great memories with all these games

:bronze: Bronze Trophies: from 182 to 785
:silver: Silver Trophies: from 47 to 244
:gold: Gold Trophies: from 19 to 102
:platinum: Platinum Trophies: from 4 to 24

:yay: Best game I played: Toss up but I would have to say...Persona 4 Golen.  I loved Persona 4 and Golden just improved on it.  I can't wait to play 5...once I finally get it!

:rolleyes: Worst game I played: None?  Really.  I would have to say the "worst" would be the Telltale Batman game only because it was a complete bug-filled mess of a game.  Good, when it wasn't breaking or slowing down

B) Best trophy of the year: Where Did You Come From? / Nihongo Ninja Warrior from Hakuoki: Kyoto Winds.  Mainly because HOLY CRAP Yamazaki finally got a route!  He's been my favorite character in every incarnation of Hakuoki I've seen/played/watched and it's great that he finally has more character development.

Clearly, I kicked into trophy mode this year.  Mainly I fell back into gaming and I got my vita.  So "quick" visual novels.  I actually play them so they take a while for me but still.  I started trophy hunting in September last year so my massive improvement isn't much of a surprise.  Also spent a lot of time unemployed, not for lack of trying, so lots of free time.

:bronze:  Bronze Trophies: from 2882 to 5480

:silver:  Silver Trophies: from 1381 to 2664

:gold:  Gold Trophies: from 544 to 1220

:platinum:  Platinum Trophies: from 108 to 231

Best game I played: The Evil Within 2 - that's the game I was most excited about. I literally waited for a sequel since I finished the first game and was so happy when it was announced during E3 this year. Thankfully I wasn't disappointed as this one was just as fantastic as its predecessor.

Worst games I played: I usually enjoy every game I play, no matter if it's considered to be easy, hard, trash, or AAA. With that being said, I think I'd choose Eekeemoo: Splinters of Dark Shard if I have to, because of all the bugs and glitches. Most trophies didn't unlock when they should have, what really was annoying and made it less enjoyable.

Best trophy of the year: I'm gonna pick two trophies from my milestones:

1. "Crossing to the Other Side" from The Evil Within 2.

2. "Restless Dreams" from Silent Hill 2 HD

These two are probably my favorites out of all the trophies I've gotten this year. I tend to plan my milestones based on meaningful names and titles they have. Both games mean much to me as well and both trophies just fit perfectly with the rest of my list. Silent Hill 2 for sure gave me restless dreams, as the boat controls screwed me out of the 10-Star Ranking and getting the plat.

Might as well post my stats now as I’ve just started Bladestorm: Nightmare and it is gonna be one long platinum.

:bronze: 5281 to 6419 = 1138

:silver: 1591 to 2022 = 431

:gold: 512 to 661 = 149

:platinum: 124 to 161 = 37

For a total increase of 1755 trophies.

My platinums were comprised of 4 common plats, 8 uncommon plats, 11 rare plats, 9 very rare plats and 5 ultra rare plats.

This year I also got my profile completion rate above 90% and am currently working towards having it high enough above 91% that starting a new game won’t take it under 91%.

This year was actually not too bad for me. Better than any year so far trophy-wise. ?

:bronze: Bronze Trophies: from 4471 to 5198 (+727)
:silver: Silver Trophies: from 1259 to 1630 (+371)
:gold: Gold Trophies: from 427 to 563 (+137)
:platinum: Platinum Trophies: from 68 to 98 (+30)

Best game I played: Would have to be Crash Bandicoot: Warped or Uncharted 4. I grew up playing Crash when I was like 2-3 years old so that was pure nostalgia for me. As for Uncharted- I can't believe it took me that long to try out the series.. Absolutely brilliant! Was so gutted when I finished UC4 :(

Worst game I played: Orc Slayer without a doubt. Downright dreadful. That last boss.. I was shooting at it for a good 2 hours until it finally died. ?

Was hoping to reach my end of year goals, but 1. When I play my new games on Christmas my Unearned trophies are going to shoot up, and 2. My patience with Grand Theft Auto Vice City is running low as I want it to be my 100th Platinum. Getting 100% is a pain, and the most likely possibility that I have to start a new game, collect all the hidden packages again, just to get Take the Cannoli, is something I'm not looking forward to. ?

This year I played more games than usual,

:bronze: Bronze Trophies: from 1806 to 2586 (+780)
:silver: Silver Trophies: from 354 to 620 (+266)
:gold: Gold Trophies: from 113 to 229 (+116)
:platinum: Platinum Trophies: from 35 to 63 (+28)

Best game I played:  A classic: Mass Effect. I finally managed to play the Trilogy (and Andromeda), and the first ME is my favorite. Discovering the Universe, getting to know all the Alien races, and of course Commander Shepard (femShep, of course) is one of my all time favorite video game characters.

Worst game I played: Danganronpa 1.2 Reload. Not really my kind of game, a grind added on top, and that twice because there are two games to complete for the Plat. I'll tackle it at some point, but without much enthusiasm.

Best trophy of the year

40S92ddd4.png Altar Conquered (Catherine)

Altar is the first stage of extra-levels, and it drove me crazy when I initially played the game five years ago. I came back occasionally, but didn't manage until this year to beat the stage. When I did it, I knew that I could alos beat the rest of the game.It paid off to keep the game in the backlog, and hopefully it will be true for other older games.

:bronze: - 602 to 913 (+311)

:silver: - 176 to 280 (+104)

:gold: - 62 to 103 (+ 41)

:platinum: - 11 to 21 (+ 10)

466 new trophies. I could've earned more if I didn't spend over four months playing Fallout 4 :lol: I don't have any plans to change things in my personal life with work and socialising so I'll have about the same amount of time to play as I did this year. The only thing I could do differently is cram in an hour or two after work more often rather than cramming the majority of my gaming into Saturdays.

Best game I played - Fallout 4.  I've noticed a trend where, one game a year I'll end up spending hundreds of hours on it, in 2016 it was Skyrim, this year it was Fallout 4. I wonder what it'll be next year, whatever it is I hope it's as good as Skyrim and Fallout were.

Worst game I played - No Man's Sky. I didn't dislike No Man's Sky and enjoyed most of the time I spent with it. It just disappointed me the most, even after the update it still didn't feel like the complete game is there. It's a good game, I just wish there was more game to play.

Trophy of the year -  Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain - :platinum: - Legend - Obtain all trophies. I started the game in 2016 but got the platinum in April this year. I doubted I'd be able to get the platinum so it was a nice feeling when I finally did it. I was really tempted to do it again when it was on PS Plus but I don't want to platinum the same game twice.
