Criminal Mastermind IV Resetting

I have just earned the "Masterminds" trophy.

Today, my group and I encountered a glitch (?) in terms of progress resetting concerning Criminal Mastermind III.

We were playing the mission in which you have to escort Agent ULP while he is sitting in his helicopter.

One of our members driving a Kuruma died due to an explosion, we closed the game immediately.

Having checked our challenge progress afterwards, we realized that his progress has been reset while my other team member and I still had x/29 missions completed.

We have completed the heist finale and only the person who died did not complete Criminal Mastermind III.

Therefore, it seems that the progress tracker can sometimes be a bit off.

Basically, we have not been able to fulfill the requirement of nobody dying which is why it seems that we had a fair share of luck with this.

Best of success to you with this trophy!

Greetings from Germany :)

This exact thing just happened to me last night.

CM4 run, escorting ULP while he's in his heli, I'm in my kuruma and randomly explode (we guessed it was explosive fire from one of the attack choppers. We all quit out immediately (less than 2 seconds after dying) - but only my progress got reset. Even more annoying is it happened again right after, despite me doing the exact same thing as one of my co-players who was also in his Kuruma, and a 3rd time we both died the same way and his progress didn't get reset. Absolute bullshit this glitchy ass game.

This is actually weird, especially because only one person loses the challenge progress.

One aspect we found out during our sessions is that you can fall back with the Kuruma.

Our approach (it worked out very well immediately) was to escort the Chernobog with the Kuruma until you leave the freeway. Once this happens, just follow the Chernobog very slowly. You won't get a notice in terms of a distance which you have to maintain (at least if you don't drive to Michael's house I guess :) ) , so the hostile helicopters won't open fire on the Kuruma.

I hope this helps for your future runs.

If a personal vehicle is destroyed the game will save and quitting does not work for the person who owns the personal vehicle. The game saves so people cannot cheese having to pay insurance for their car. I would not recommend using personal vehicles on missions with rockets.

Didn't know this. Thank you - any explanation as to why my progress would be reset but not my friend's? Who was also killed in his kuruma?

For the chernobog mission, you can have just the 2 people in the missle launcher truck handle everything while the other 2 players just sit inside the first tunnel, after doing this mission 10+ times on hard with only the chernobog and the others hanging back, it's pretty easy.  Just have the guy using the launcher shoot down 5 or 6 helicopters, then move up again to the agent, rinse and repeat the whole mission. Don't worry about the guys in the trucks shooting at you, the truck is armored and the windows are bulletproof

This is definitely not true, at least in regard to Criminal Mastermind. I can confirm that it's possible to get killed in your personal vehicle without losing any progress toward the Criminal Mastermind challenge if you close the game just in time.

Well I closed it within two seconds, not sure if you have wizard fingers or you were just really lucky, but it cost me the run.

I'm not saying that you always can save your progress by fast quitting. I'm only saying that it's possible to die in your personal vehicle without losing your progress. The other guy said it was your cars fault and this is definitely not true. I don't want that someone gets confused. In that particular situation it's probably impossilbe to save your progress, maybe due to a checkpoint or something, but it's not because of your car. The same thing happend to me (I was the guy that was mentioned before in that post you've quoted) and I also wasn't able to save my progress even though I closed the game immediately. ;)

Digging up an old thread here, but I was wondering if the glitch affecting Criminal Mastermind progress might have anything to do with a group of players from different timezones perhaps? I don't see any reason why it should, but I do know I got up to 22/29 for CM II with a player from my own country (UK) with no problems at all before he abandoned the challenge, and 12/29 today with a player in Romania (2 hours ahead of me) before our progress got reset for no reason. What was even more puzzling is that, as we were starting Server Farm, his All In Order II progress reset, which is in itself a requirement for CM, yet we both retained our CM II and Loyalty II progress until the Avenger mission started. Outside of the progress tracker just being outright broken, it's the only explanation I can think of, even if there's no reason why it should be the case. I guess I just want to hear back from people who have completed any of these challenges with other players from across the world so this possibility can be safely ruled out.

EDIT: Scratch that, I think I know where I went wrong. Pretty sure I accidentally started the Avenger mission from a public lobby, now that I think about it. I was so happy that we had made so much progress in such a small amount of time that in my haste I forgot to start an invite-only session. This doesn't account for my friend's loss of All in Order II from an earlier mission however, that was definitely hosted in a private lobby.

Regarding the resetting and the close application exploit.

Does it make any difference if you have a digital or disc version of the game?

Like having less time to close app in digital? I'm thinking of picking the game from the store (summer sales)

No it doesn't as long as you hold the ps button and have the close application highlighted you should be alright
